Great little place on the strand. You have the option of sitting outside or dining inside which is a little tight on space, but the staff where friendly and food was Ok but a little burnt around the edges ok if you like a crunch in your pizza.

I went to La Porchetta in Williamstown for lunch with my daughter & my friend & her daughter; I was starving. We ordered our food, I got digging into my Risotto dish, as I began eating the first few bites I saw a piece of HAIR in it... It completely turned me off as it was a black short curled up whispy type hair & coarse. It put me off my food & I didn't feel comfortable eating from that same dish, so I told the waitress what happened & she took my plate away in order to get me another. In the meantime the others sat eating their meals and so I had 2 just sit there n wait for my replacement dish. As I sat waiting, I took some chips off my daughters plate which was a kids meal and as I sat there pecking at her plate, I saw ANOTHER piece of HAIR similar to the first one but now in my daughters meal upon her chips; a Second strand of hair... I couldn't believe it! My meal came out & I accepted it being so hungry but I did indeed tell the waitress that I had found yet another HAIR in another dish/meal on that table. She apologized. Now after our meals were done, I expected some sort of discount on our bill because of the not one, but two hairs that were found in our food. I expressed this to a waiter that was serving us that we should get some sort of discount or the kids meal waived atleast. He went & spoke to the manager (who happened to be the girl waitress who I had complained to & who knew very well as she had delivered & taken the food away). He came back saying that the manager had approved a no charge on the chips in the kids meal which was like a $5-6.00 discount. I explained that this was barely much of a discount & that one of the meals should be waived, at least the kids meal! Because I requested this, she caved in & gave me what I wanted all the while being very rude about it. No apologies, no offerings, I had 2 ask, practically plead for the kids meal to be waived & she treated me as if I had no right in asking even after I had found not one but TWO strands of HAIR in 2 seperate dishes... she acted extremely rude! so Not a good impression at all; which is sad because I am normally a fan of La Porchetta but now definitely not the one in Williamstown!

Hi DioneM, while some of us certainly need more roughage in our diets, human hair is not a great option, particularly when it belongs to someone else! While no offense is intended, why is it that we (consumers) feel the need to bargain with unhygienic businesses in order to garner a discount? Perhaps we all need to vacate the premises immediately upon discovery of any health violation, after taking photos for evidentiary purposes. Businesses like this clearly underestimate the power of the consumer (and review websites like WOMO) and while they may indeed make money on the day in question, they lose a lot more in the long run. And for the record, businesses should learn how to render a basic and appropriate apology. Itâ??s also interesting to note that our local La Porchetta has been shut down (repeatedly) for health violations. Thanks for disclosing your experience. Regards, Reeces

We always come here for lunch if we're in the area and in the mood for Italian. Serving size of mains are generous and prices are reasonable. It has a great location on Nelson Place, within walking distance to the pier. When it's busy, it can get quite cramped inside so better to get an outside table.

Good comments, thanks for your feedback. La porchettas are fairly consistant around the country. Good for a quick feed

This restaurant, situated along the lovely waterside precinct of Nelson Place, is the best of the ones I've been in.

This is in part due to the location, right across from the leafy Commonwealth Reserve - a park with a band rotunda, and Gem pier, or it might be because of the lovely old former Bank building which it occupies and the gracious features which remain from this such as the panelled doors and big windows.

But putting those two things aside, I think it has a lot to do with the managers/owners of this place. They actually are an Italian family and live the slogan of the place "Eat, love, live Italian" as a fact. There are photos of places of international interest on the walls and photos of people who've come to eat here at their restaurant.

We've had numerous take away pizzas from here and it's always a good night out for a special occasion for all the family as it's not too expensive.

The room is small and there are a lot of tables crammed in, but there are other areas you can go - especially outside on a fine day/night.

Food was very nice - I asked for an addition to my chicken and avocado tortellini and they missed it and put it on my daughter's pizza instead (ham) but other than that, it was tasty and the portions were large.

A very pleasant place to go, and afterwards pop around the corner to the ice cream shop and go for a walk on the pier while you eat it.

Parking is pretty limited and watch out for the metered spots, go around the corner and up a little, the walk is enjoyable anyway.

Approximate cost: $10- 18.00 approx. Under $100 for family of 5

Not a big fan of La Porchetta but somehow end up there every now and then. I guess the best thing you could say is that it's inexpensive, and you know what you're getting. It's a gorgeous location though, which sets this one apart from the others I guess.

You'll find the same thing here as in every other La Porchette, only this one is located in a nice building and has a nice view if you manage to get a window seat. Nothing special. Food was average. The service on par with the food. Ahh well.. at least it will fill you up..
