Great drink selection, and delicious food. Trendy pub, but hidden away from the main streets of the busy CBD. Meals were quick to come out, without compromising on quality. Friendly staff

I would rate it amongst one of the best places in Melbourne to have steak, as well as one offering the best value. It is in one of the oldest buildings in Melbourne, with a great old school bar downstairs and an amazing drink selection. Upstairs in Mitre Tavern Steakhouse was where we ate, food and service was first class. Could not have made the night any more enjoyable.

Good spot for a casual drink or bar meal. Located just off Collins St in a lane way near Rivers and Taco Bill, Between Market & Queen St. Its usually pretty busy and has a good vibe.

very busy place to be, trivia nights pack a crowd. food is fairly standard but not special. prices are to be expected for a cbd bar. would go again with a group of friends

I have been to the Mitre tavern a few times with work and although some people rave about the food and the place I was left disappointed. I didn't like the decor and the atmosphere is ok, and then the food doesn't have the wow factor it is pretty plain looking and tasting to me. I only go because of work otherwise there are better places to sit and eat.

How could you not like the decor...... It's all about the history of the place. It's so quaint.

Haven't eaten there but have had plenty of drinks...plenty. Gets packed after work, esp on fri nights for the city set. The beer garden is a good place to pour in a few after work, get there and have a few pints.

Very cool trendy and funky looking place, although "hidden" away from the main streets, people must know their way aroud Melbourne as it is always packed, busy and people everywhere.
Normally this sort of scene would deter me due to lack of space, but not in this case, as it is an awesome bar with an equally fantastic atmosphere

This pub can get very busy, particularly at lunch and after work on Fridays, but there's a very good reason for this, and that is that the Mitre is a GREAT pub. Good location too (though can be hard to find if you don't know where to look). Also has a function room upstairs. Excellent place for a catch up over some palate cleansing ales.

i love the old fashioned style of this place. the outside courtyard area is good in hot weather. inside has several areas to stand or sit. The food is good and not too expensive.

Just around the corner from work, so we go in for lunch sometimes. It's always very busy, especially on fridays, so make sure you book a table if there's a few of you. Great "pub food" - steak sandwiches, burgers, fish & chips etc plus a few asian inspired dishes. Really delicious and quick service.

Approximate cost: $20
