IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE! i'm so suprised it wasn't busy at all and popular yet? they serve the food in hot plates which is quite hard because the food is SO HOT but so yummy and you try to scoff it all down without burning your whole mouth!

prices were reasonable and there's heaps of options to choose from, would definitely go back!

I agree with the other reviewers. Pepper lunch is a great place for a cheap and cheerful lunch. The food is fairly standard, reliable, filling and tasty. For myself, I enjoy their basic and plain curry beef slice with an extra egg on the side. It's simple and tasty. The curry powder mixed with the beef that's cooked to your liking on your plate is lively on the palate. Mixed with the sweet corn kernels and the crispy egg on the side, it is hard not to like. Comfort food, outside the house.

It's a cheap, fast & easy outlet for students and workers rushing for time during lunch hour. This restaurant is rather simple and easy to order- following the footsteps from the Japanese chain outlet.

I went for dinner with a friend and ordered the prawn rice bowl, comes in a super hot bowl where the waiter helps you to stir-fry it. It's a rather simple dish and u need to add pepper, soya sauce and chili to make it spicer.
Good place for eat-outs,...i dont mind at all for a Friday night early dinner.

Approximate cost: $10.00

Suggested by a friend who had tried Pepper Lunch in Hong Kong. On a 40 degree day I wasn't sure it was such a good idea since they say the plates are heated to 260 degrees. But really glad I decided to go because the food was great and the shop is well air conditioned.

Not sure if they take reservations because it's a order/pay at counter and take the number and pick a table and they serve to you at your table. So in a sense it's like fast food.

There are a few different options of food, and you can view the menu on their website. Some come with rice and some don't so make sure to ask if you're not sure. You also have the option to change it to a meal deal where you can get a side and a drink/soup with the main dish.

I ordered the "Hitokuchi" Cut steak at $11.00 and opted to add cheese for an extra $1. I also got the deal which was an additional $3.95 which gave me the option of rice or chips plus either a soup or drink.

I am not a big fan of pepper so I was glad to have the cheese to cover some of the pepper taste. The meat is served with a side of beanshoots, some peapods and some carrot slices.

The staff here are really friendly and I think since they're still very new, they ask if you've been there before and if you know how to cook it. Even around the plate there is a paper ring with instructions. If that's not enough, on one of their screens behind the counter, there are instructional videos showing how to cook/mix your meal. The paper ring also serves as a reminder to not touch the plate when they first serve it to you as it is extremely hot.

I actually went here for lunch and dinner on the same day and ordered the same thing both times. The first time, the cheese was already on top of the meat when it was served to me. The second time, the cheese was in a little bowl and I could opt to add as much or as little as I wanted. Both work well but I think I got more cheese when it was in a separate bowl.

They have a variety of soft drinks on tap as well as some bottled ice tea in the fridge. Water is self serve. I think they also have the option of salads there but I'm not sure since none from our table ordered salad.

Overall I really enjoyed the food here and definitely plan on returning. The main gimmick for the store is that you can cook your own meat to your own liking so you can have it rare or fully cooked. (From what I gathered in the videos, the beanshoots are there for you to rest your meat on once you've decided it's cooked to your liking). I've also been told the pepper rice is really nice so I'll have to give that a go next time as well. For the rice dishes, you also have the option to add kimchi for $2.

Approximate cost: $12

I've heard about this place - I'll have to give it a try.
