I go for the fresh food, come away with the donuts and if I am in the mood, a big sausage and sourkraut... I used to live near by, and quite frankly this place is world class... it rocks... damn I want a donut

I get to the Markets as often as I can as I save atleast $20-$30 off my grocery bill by shopping here. I often buy organic fruit and veg as the prices aren't much different to the regular fruit and veg. I love the atmosphere with the stall holders sprouking to get customers attention and the lovely customer service I get, being called Ma'am. After lunch is the best time to go as the stall holders don't want to have to pack everything down so would rather sell it.

We love these markets for the freshness of all food, and it is inexpensive.
Great for quality meat as well. We like to take international visitors here for the atmosphere and great souvenirs.

Approximate cost: $inexpensive

It's a must see place to take visitors to Melbourne. The fruit and veg is fresh and good value, the souviners delightfully tacky, the foodcourt good value and tasty and the deli section is just FANTASTIC1

Massive market with a huge variety of goods. Like their seafood section. However, beware of pickpockets.

I frequently visit Victoria Market during the weekends to stock up on food for the week. They have competitive prices (even more than Woolworths!). I also note that the best time to get is around lunchtime. The reason for this is more stores are closing up and there are lots of specials waiting for grabs. As food is a perishable item, they need to sell it out completely. Other than that, there's also heaps of goods such as jackets, souveniers, clothes, etc on the other end of VicMart. Note: You may also bargain with some of the shop owners to get even more discount.

Giving 4 stars takes into account that some parts of this market are 5+ stars and others are 2 or 3 stars. Its a must-see for Melbourne visitors and locals. My family buys fruit and veg here most weeks. If you are astute shopper you can pick up fantastic items.

I purchase socks and plain t shirts on a regular basis and recently discovered a few stalls with good prices and high quality for both . Wool blend socks 3 for $10, plain t shirt with good quality neck 3x $20

Always enjoy shopping at the Vic market. Location is ideal and whatever you need you can always find it there. Particularly like the fruit and vegetable.
