Wow. How times have changed. From '$9.90 buys a huge plate of chicken rice (boneless chicken) with soup.' in 2008 to a whopping $20.80 in 2014. It looks like their menu has been overhauled, and they're now trying to cater towards fine dining..or something? (Ah upon closer inspection, $11.80 is their current LUNCH rate for chicken rice. Geez.)

Either way, I would not pay these prices for the quality, fairly average. Decor pretty dated, food was okay but like I said, not quite good value at night. Might be different if you go for lunch!

I am a regular here. the food is great, service is good. parking is so easy. black pepper crab is a standout dish! seafood egg tofu dish is another favourite of mine. the chicken laksa is also very good but it is only available at lunchtime, it is not available at dinner time which is a shame. a little more expensive than other malaysian restaurants, but i think the quality is higher here.

We had dinner at Sambal on a weekday night as it is close to our home. Convenient location with lots of parking. My husband ordered the Kapitan chicken curry and I ordered the Hainan Chicken rice. We also ordered some curry puffs as entrée while we were waiting. The dishes were quite delicious with lots of flavours. The portion size was quite big and we were quite full. Customer service was quite good and we didn't need to wait for long before the food arrived. The prices on the menu for most items are relatively expensive, but we will go there again since the dishes are tasty.

We've been here a couple of times: Once during lunch and once during dinner. The prices for lunch are lower and hence, better value. The char kuey teow was fabulous. Tasted just as good as the real deal in Malaysia. But the fried rice was a little bit of a let down. We asked for it to be done spicy and that was all there was to it - just spicy with no other flavour.

Tip: Just order the char kuey teow and chendol to avoid disappointment.

Yummy Malaysian food, albeit a little pricey. They do their spicy dishes well and all menu items are really tasty. Parking is available out the back, but during 1-2pm it can get very packed (it's next door to other fast food outlets).

A delicious malaysian restaurant which are authentic and tasty. Don't come here with very hungry man otherwise you don't get to eat much! The parking is great and this is just one of the best places you can get.

I highly recommend the satay kebabs! Also if you are celebrating a birthday, you are allowed to bring your own cake!

I went there for many times, and the food still awesome for me. There are a variety of curry available and you can order for different spicy level. Try those ordinary malaysia's cuisine such as penang laksa, char kuey teaw, rojak, nasi lemak, and so on. It is damn nice!!! You must try if you ever in north ryde.

Yes I love those street food dishes.. but they're only available during lunch. So take note to go during lunch! :)

Authentic Malaysian restaurant serving Malaysian cuisine that's tasty but a bit expensive for the small portions that they serve. Service is not the best but staff are friendly.

Taken for what it is, this is just a nice, cheap and cheerful suburban restaurant with really tasty food. The service can be a little slow and it tends to be noisy but once you look past that, it's a great place to have a meal. Highly recommend the salt and pepper squid, sar hor fun and the chicken satay skewers.

I went there more than twice, just to have a taste on a variety of awesome food. I would suggest char kuey teow, penang laksa, hokkien noodle if you decide to have your lunch there. For dinner, try the curry! They are so awesome!!! People who like to eat spicy food must try as malaysia is a heaven for nice spicy dishes =)
