The last time i dined here was about 12 years ago and although Sammy's Kitchen has enlarged its space, the head server is still grouchy/unfriendly, food is still way too salty and portions are still small. i don't think i'd be back unless they change their cook.

Touted as a Canberran staple for Southeast Asian Chinese cuisine, and judging by the crowds, every single night, till way past mall opening hours, one would think that this is one of the better restaurants in Canberra. Sadly, this was not so. The portions are small, and sometimes misleading (4 "pieces" of roti, ended up being 4 quarter slices of a single square roti). Go up to Dickson if you'd like the authentic SEAsian experience.

The atmosphere of the place wasn't like a Chinese restaurant. It felt very Western, and it was very noisy and hardly any room between tables (and even between people sitting at the same table). The food was bland, though the range of food seemed good and the prices seemed good also.

Sammy's is tremendous! Now that they are in a larger and superior location the experience is much more awesome. They have great dishes such as Kung Pow Chicken, Mongolian lamb and hot rock salted chicken dishes. The ambiance is sparkling and the staffs are always pleasant. Takeaway available too, as well as sit down dining for those not on the run.

Had some great Malaysian dishes there -- Nyonya curry with okra was great. Nice atmosphere, service was ok. In general, food was nice, but a little expensive.

Sammy's have always been excellent, now that they are in a bigger and better location the experience is much nicer. Mongolian lamb and hot rock salted chicken dishes are consistently excellent, atmosphere is bubbling and the staff are always friendly. Takeaway available too, as well as sit down dining.

Excellent laksa noodle, nasi goreng, beef randang, singapore noodle, fried kway diao etc etc, i reckon is the best asian food in canberra.
they open for lunch and dinner only, but always pack of people whenever they open. it's great location, and not so dear for a Canberra resident.

Good food, mediocre ambiance. While the food was good, there wasn't enough place to move around and it was way too noisy and all I wanted to do quickly finish my dinner and leave. I would have much preferred to sit and enjoy the good food!

Approximate cost: $20

Fantastic food and value for money. The food is served very quickly as it is almost always busy. Pity the waiter spilt a glass of water on me, otherwise the service was great!
