The best restaurant in Canberra. The staff are fantastic and remember their regulars (we go there for every birthday in the family, so about 6 times a year). The steak is FANTASTIC. By far the best steak you can get, and all side dishes are lovely too. Ellacure is intimate without being pretentious, and has always delivered brilliant food and wonderful service. At one birthday dinner, they even brought out dessert with a candle on it! 10/10!
Takeaway was delivered super fast, and the meal was delicious (shredded chicken and snowpeas in xo sauce). They do free local delivery too. No complaints at all!
Approximate cost: $14
Sammy's have always been excellent, now that they are in a bigger and better location the experience is much nicer. Mongolian lamb and hot rock salted chicken dishes are consistently excellent, atmosphere is bubbling and the staff are always friendly. Takeaway available too, as well as sit down dining.
Approximate cost: $15
Tea selection is AMAZING! They also sell teapots and infusers, as well as sit-down tea and cakes. A really fantastic place to go for an afternoon. Well worth the drive out to Gungahlin.
Excellent atmosphere. Cosy and intimate, with some fantastic cocktails on offer, and brilliant food (beer battered chips for the win). Only issue is the lack of seating when it's packed, but apart from that it's a great little cocktail bar.
Approximate cost: $17
Excellent atmosphere, especially the 'secret' library behind the bar. Great when it's quiet, great when it's packed. Food isn't anything special, it was a bit cold and dry (I had the beef and burgundy pie) but the atmosphere and decor alone make it a brilliant pub.
Awesome for late night cravings, good choice of flavours and toppings, and speedy service. Interior decor could use a bit of maintenance though.
Atmosphere is great, food not so good. Coffee is always excellent though, and the owner is super friendly. Pancakes with bacon and maple syrup is the best meal on offer. Everyone loves an all day breakfast.
These guys are fantastic. Very knowledgeable with 'exotic' pets (rats, rabbits) and very good with the animals. I have had to get several pets put down here, and the staff were always sympathetic and kind, and completely respectful to the deceased pets - I even received a card in the mail from them expressing their sympathy for my loss. I now take my rabbits to see them, and both have had hassle free desexing operations and I'm very happy. It's well worth the drive out to Gungahlin to see them.
Service was quick, the staff were friendly. The Top Deck hot chocolates are amazing, as are the parmesan and chilli fries. The decor is funky, and it has a much nicer atmosphere than the nearby Gus' or Essen.
