If you like fine dining with a great view, look no further. Unbelievable attentive staff (all with European accents strangely enough).
Food was brilliant. Everything perfectly cooked. And portion sizes surprised me (to the good).
But the best of all was the deserts. Between two of us we ordered 3 (mmmm). Citrus Meringue was the perfect way to finish a beautiful dinner.
It's not the cheapest place to eat especially when you start adding wine/drinks/side etc but as a special occasion, don't hold back - they will not disappoint.
The only negative thing I would say though is that I'm not one for fine dinning experience. So the posh silver service attention from staff made me a little uneasy and I struggled to relax and really just enjoy the moment with my partner.
In saying that though, there were customer there in tracksuits and casuals so there are no stringent rules on clientele.

First time here, in the private dining room and the service was a little lack lustre, just like the food. My partner was very unhappy with his serving and we did wait quite a long time. It was good, but for the price next time i'd rather go elsewhere

Being around the Albert Lake a lot, I have never tried a steak at this awarded restaurant. But I once invited my parents to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere surrounding the outside area of the cafe (on the lake's edge). We just had some sandwiches, coffee and beer, so I can't say too much about beverages and food, but I loved what we had. Service staff was friendly and I would love to go there again.

I have heard a lot about the Point. I have been there a couple of years ago and remembered the food was good. But this time around, service was slow, making me very restless. My friend has the beef and i had the duck. In the dark, i could not tell, but I was pretty sure my duck wasnt cook. it was chewy and i had to stop eating and my jaw and tooth hurts towards the end. The plate was messy and weird looking. If they are going for the artistic look, it isnt at all. The tasting plate for the beef was so plain and empty. we also have scallop for entree and on the plate, there was only 1 scallop, very disappointing. I dont think i will be back for a very very long time

We were a bit disappointed with the experience considering how much you pay for the meal.
Agree with the previous comment about insufficient staff, on the night we arrived, there seemed to be 1 waiter taking orders and serving food for the entire restaurant and the other staff (at least 3-4 of them including the sommelier) wandered around listlessly. It took well over 15mins to give us menus, and another 30mins before our order was taken. By that stage, we were all much too hungry. The food also took quite awhile to be served.

Having said that, the food did live upto expectations. It was tasty however did not wow us in any way. The entrees were good, and the steaks were cooked well for us. The venue and location is ideal but I recommend going during the day to be able to enjoy it to the fullest.

I would not go back in any hurry though.

We have eaten in the restaurant a few times and loved it - especially the private dining room (expensive but so worth it!!) we had our wedding here and over 3 years later friends are still raving about the food!

Beautiful food but extremely pricey. Just recently had a christmas dinner there and would have to say one of the best meals I have had for a while. The Smoked Salmon terrine and Eye Fillet cooked rare but perfection. Drinks were extremely pricey with most beers costing $15 each and a bottle of Veuve (in which we had 5) was $170 each!

We went for dinner to enjoy the sunset. There seemed to be insufficient staff for the full restaurant. Service was inattentive and slow. They even had insufficient menus for the four of us! When you pay these prices (it's very expensive) the service should be first class. The steaks weren't the best I've had, either.

We had lunch here so we were able to enjoy the full benefits if the beautiful setting beside Albert Park Lake. This is a more expensive restaurant but it is also in the entertainment book so that helped. Lovely food and spot. Service was slow but ok

The steak there was the best I've had, and the entrees are good too. The environment is luxurious and nice, too bad it's impossible to see out the windows at night as it's too dark. The service was also impressive. As for the price, the food there tends to be quite expensive, but considering the quality of food, it may just be worth it.
