I only really go here for the gnocchi options, but basically you have a great Italian restaurant that does both your basic classic Italian dishes (I guess you need that for the unimaginative Brissy crowd) and much better innovative and special dishes.

Some of the sauces are incredibly rich (and fattening) so it is a matter of a little of what you fancy does you good.

They also have a number of great warm desserts. Which makes this an ideal spot for winter.

I've only been here once for a birthday dinner and it was very nice. Quite busy and good atmosphere and food not outstanding but very good.

The Purple Olive has been in the New Farm area for years, I recently tried them again and the quality and service is still fantastic. For starter I shared some fresh baked bread with balsamic and olive oil, for main I had the chicken and mushroom risotto & my friend had the scallop risotto. Both meals were delicious and came in generous portions.
All the pizzas can be made into Calzones - yum! They also have an interesting array of desserts.

Approximate cost: $18-$30

That's such a great idea turning all the pizzas into Calzones if you like, sounds great!

A beautiful restaurant. Relaxing atmosphere. At the expensive end of the market but worth the indulgence.

We love The Purple Olive. It is delicious food cooked well, but it is the service that is really fantastic here! While it is a relatively casual restaurant, the service is 5 star / fine dining quality. The waiters are always attentive. I believe they're training of wait staff is first class. We had a waiter one night that had a trainee with them all night, but following and observing before being allowed to serve on their own.

In my opinion, the baby octopus entree is the best baby octopus I have ever had, unfortunately last time we were there, it had been taken off the menu! ALAS! We'll be taking a look at the menu before we go next time to check it is back on!

This restaurant is probably my favourite in Brisbane. The waitstaff are so friendly and knowledgeable over the food items and drinks they serve. The food is impeccable - well presented, generous portions and absolutely delicious. The ambience is also something to be noted - not unlike a little trattoria you'd expect in the back alleyways of Florence or the like.

A lovely little restaurant to spend your evenings. We have been here multiple times to celebrate my birthdays, and will continue to return on every special occasion!

I can't say this is the best restaurant I have been to but it is good value for money and the service is better than most places I have been to. The seafood pasta is just devine!

Approximate cost: $40

Good restaurant. Nice food and wine. Good menu selection. Good service. Nice atmostphere. Good for a regular meal out with partner, friends - probably not for that extra special occassion.
