The recurrent theme in all the other reviews is going to Thresherman's while at Uni, and I'm afraid I'm no different. I had many excellent (and good value) fry-up breakfasts here, and it was our favourite spot for an off campus lunch. The service is usually cheerful, and you get excellent value for your money.

I love love love Threshermans, when I lived in Carlton, I went here every weekend for breakfast. It has a very european feel to it, and I love the big communal tables, and the huge range of food. Its all fantastic value, and high quality. their Chai Latte is my favourite in Melbourne, and their hot food is great also. Great low budget cafe.

Threshermans has beeen a staple part of our diet for our entire University career. The prices are great and there is always a bargain to be found. Try the oup. A huge bowl hearty enough to keep the winter chills at bay. The coffee is always good too.

excellent food for budget conscious, especially students. Smorgasbord style service, with a cosy atmosphere, a great place to sit and read the paper. They have large tablets you share with multiple others, and combine hot food with great bakery products.

I used to go cafe/ bakery every week and it was always good value and really good food. Recently I dropped in for lunch and if anything it has got better. Outside they have improved the seating and tables so you enjoy the sun on a good day.

I used to go to Threshmans regularily for a coffee or a cheap bite to eat when I was at Melbourne Uni. Half the place is a bakery, and the other half serves lunches and ready to eat meals. Last night we decided to see if it much had changed since those days. For $8 I was able to get a massive slice of quiche and 2 side salads, my friend had a big bowl of soup and a roll for $6. They also have sandwiches, fish n chips, lasagna and pastas. Its very relaxed place, you have to get your own cutlery and you sit on large commual tables, but its clean and a great for a quick meal before a movie.

Approximate cost: $10

Was a great place for a good value meal with great atmosphere and then they extended it about 10 years ago to make it twice as big and it has never been the same since - still good value, but feels more like a cafeteria now, rather than a cosy place for a coffee. Still good value though.

Approximate cost: $10
