Wish I could give ZERO STARS
Flew to Brisbane with Jetstar in the morning and was flying back to Sydney that night with Tiger Airways. It was the first time I was to fly with Tiger and they cancelled the flight via text and email. I immediately called customer service which is based in the Philippines and waited 15 minutes for someone to answer the phone. After 20 minutes on a mobile phone I realised that I would not be provided with any assistance. I went to the airport and waited two and a half hours for Tiger Airways staff to saunter in at 6.30pm. To say Tiger Airways staff are unhelpful is a gross understatement. They could not give a rats about the customer at all, in fact their complete lack of ability to provide assistance was incredulous. Their idea of assistance was for me to sleep at the airport in the clothes I was wearing, go without food or showering and my prescription medication for the next two days. The fact that they are required to put passengers on the next available flight doesn't hold for them if there are no seats available. I was even asked haughtily if I had read their terms and conditions. Now I have to wait two weeks to get my money back and they refused to give me a receipt. Disgraceful airline, rude staff with no empathy or common sense and appalling service. Tiger Airlines business practices need to be investigated. To make matters worse all the other airlines jacked up their prices to take cancelled passengers on board. I slept at the airport and had to pay $552 to fly one way to Sydney the next morning. Just a horrible stressful experience and I will NEVER choose Tiger Airways again.

Is it me or does it feel like the level of personal contact is gone? I like the prices but do find that the last 2 flights have been delayed. I' have been told tiger get delayed first.

I was sceptical after I all I had previously heard, but following a recent return flight to melbourne I was pleased to discover that for a budget service there were no holdups or issues. We travelled both ways in at timely manner with friendly staff.

two weeks ago we were due to fly with Tiger for the second time. I should have learnt the first time. Three hours before we were to leave for Sydney I received a text saying that our flight was cancelled and no reason for this. It also stated that they could not get us to Sydney that day. I rang and when asked as to the reason the person that I spoke to said that there was no reason that they could give me. I stated that I needed a complete refund and was told that would take up to 6 weeks. They did not have to wait 6 weeks for me to pay for my flight but I have to wait 6 weeks to get my money back. We had to book with another airline which cost us a further $600. That first phone call I was on hold for 2 hours before someone took my call. Since then I have made a number of phone calls and all that I get now is the money has been refunded to webjet who we booked through. Webjet say they are still waiting on Tiger. So maybe as sometime in the future I will see my money again. Will I fly with Tiger again...... NO!!!!!!!

Approximate cost: $300

one of the cheaper airlines, and you basically get what you pay for - watch out for tricky hidden fees like picking a seat, luggage weight, etc.

they flights are usually late, and they're usually the ones to cancel their flights first if the weather's not looking too good, so i'm assuming the planes are smaller or something

Well, so far i can't complain! Tiger Airways as always got me to my destination. (Thankfully)
I've heard some experiences which i will admit made me think twice but from personal experience alone - it's been good.
The staff are usually too busy to interact but i guess that's not their job.
Overall pretty good review

Approximate cost: $CHEAP

I recently went to Melbourne for a couple of days, only took hand luggage. Went through Sydney fine, had to wait for awhile but that's ok. On the trip back apart from having trouble finding Tiger, got there in the end. Went to the counter and the lady said you are I kilo over weight have you got a water bottle you can take out? No I didn't. Ok well that's $75 for excess luggage. I said ah I came two days earlier and even had my coat in the bag which I was now wearing and nothing was mentioned in Sydney. Well I don't know that she said and that will be $75.00. I was very annoyed. Once in the plane apparently a passenger changed there mind and got off. So then we had to have a security check with the bags that were in the the plane. So that was a delay of course. Also the only airline Ive seen where the Hostess had a mouth of food and was talking to a passenger. I wont be flying with Tiger again.

Approximate cost: $300

When you think about things from a business perspective, (minor) excess luggage expenses offer a great way to extract additional funds from unsuspecting passengers. Such inconsistencies can be a source of great frustration and expense, as you have discovered. Thanks for the heads-up! Reeces

What a rip snorter of a ride on Tiger Airlines! Who needs in-flight entertainment? From a delayed trip on departure and on landing (big circles in the sky are fun) which more than doubled the flying time to Brisbane - to a terminal bus driver who collided with concrete bollards - to the mandatory "sick bag" user in the seat next door.

You can't plan an exciting trip like this if you tried. But the plane was comfortable and they offered swap to another "non sick" seat, the cabin crew were helpful and Pilot Ken and Co-Pilot Kylie (yes, really) were professional and efficient, especially in a high wind landing.

Combined with Ace Parking at the airport the whole trip was good really, and at a good price. Normal is boring.

Approximate cost: $Around 100
