I thought I would give Woolworths online a try as they were advertising a product I wanted to buy on "Special" and the first online order was free delivery.

This proved to be a very disappointing experience.

Instead of taking a small "holding deposit" to verify that the card you are paying with is valid, they take the entire amount for the order at point of sale.

I received an Email confirming the order, then the next day I received an Email saying that they had run out of stock for over 50% of the order I had placed, I requested no substitutions. They advised that my card would be credited with the difference "within a 3-5 days"

The order was delivered within the specified time frame, but this was the only positive aspect to the experience.
I find this method of doing business to be very unsatisfactory.
Good business practice would be to charge the card once the order has be "picked", so that the appropriate amount is charged to the card.
This is the method employed in Europe and it works, as you are not paying for something that is not in stock.

I replied to the Email I received from them which notified me that they were out of stock and I asked if they
could advise me when the product would be back in stock.
I received an "auto reply" which stated I would receive a response within 48 hours.
Even after 72 hours I did not received a response and have not received one, to date.

Their website does not have an option for Online chat, nor a dedicated customer response team to answer Emails promptly, which would improve the customer experience substantially.

The are many other companies that offer online purchasing and I shall not be buying any product from them, via their online services, in the future.

Somervile store got my order wrong every time I have ordered there, roughly every fortnightly for 4 monnths. So every fornightly shop I was having to contact Woolworths with my missing items or extras I didn't order, making complaints and having to diligently check off my orders. Once I was missing around $30 worth of items, once I recieved doubles of all my veggies - the packing team seems truly hopeless.

The last time I ordered, I brought to the attention of customer service that this store has never been able to correctly pack my orders for as long as I had been ordering from that store and I asked could they tell me what they will do to ensure I recieve my order correctly, since countless times telling me they would speak to the store manager had obviously not worked - I was sent the generic 'Apologies for the inconvenience, we have processed your refund', so obviously could care less people aren't doing their jobs properly and customers are being left short.

I shop elsewhere now.

Sorry to hear your bad experience with woolies online sometimes they will substitute items if they are not available at the time they pack your order so if u don't like your items to be substituted you can go on setting and change they will refund the money if goods r not available I don't think it's stores fault I believe they have wearhouse where they

Ami111, I understand how substitutions work, but by missing items I mean I've paid for items that I have not received (which packing staff are directly responsible for because they have not put items I have been charged for in my order) not just haven't received things which were not available.

I decided to place an order with Woolworths Online after not using them for a while. I had stopped using them after one of my deliveries arrived almost an hour later than the agreed three hour delivery time. Today my delivery yet again has not turned up. I rang the call centre, and was left on hold for over thirteen minutes. Once I spoke to someone they said they would check their system for late notifications, and said the driver hadn't notified them he was running late. She tried to call him a number of times while I was on the phone, and said his phone was turned off. I was told she would keep trying and call me back if she got an answer. My delivery still has not arrived, and I have absolutely no idea what is going on, or even if it will turn up! Luckily I did not have plans for the rest of the day as I obviously am expected to just wait around and hope it gets here. Coles Online make you pick a two hour delivery time, and manage to arrive during those two hours. Woolworths Online make you select a three hour delivery time, so I don't understand why they are still late. I personally think their prices are better, and their web site is great, they certainly need to look at their delivery system and customer service though!

I have been doing my weekly shopping with woolies online for about a month now. I wish I had thought of it sooner, it makes my life so much easier, especially with young children. The prices are just as if you were heading into the store, you skip all the crowds, screaming kiddies, and carparks. She simply click and have it delivered straight to your kitchen counter at a time you specify. What more could you want? I love it.

I have used Woolworths Shopping Online several times and it's convenient with just a small cost for delivery. So it you are busy or ill and can't get to the Supermarket, great idea. The drivers will carry any heavy items inside and come at a time convenient to you. Great service. I have just done at online grocery order and it saved me having to find parking and waiting in lengthy queues.

Approximate cost: $150-200
