The pies here are worth the drive from wherever you might live. I think of nothing to hop in the car to get my fix of pie goodness from these guys. And I'm not alone. The place is always busy, the lines are always long, and it's always worth the wait.

They do drive-thru, takeaway as well as eat in, but I find that I have to sit down and eat my pie straight away. There chips and gravy is also pretty good, and I always walk out of there wishing I could fit more food in.

They have a decent range of pies, pastries and so forth. The pies come in family and normal sizes. Potato, Gravy and Peas and available.

Parking can be a problem, they don't take EFTPOS (they do have an ATM instore, though), and they are always busy. But at the end of the day, the pies are always worth it. I even managed to convince a friend who "hates pies" to give them a chance, and she has been begging me to take her back there.

How awesome are these guys. I can't help but stop for one of their delicious pies. My favorite is always a curry and have to have it complete with toppings. The best pies in Brisbane.

Yes who doesn't drive back from the Gold Coast on the weekend without bypassing Yatala Pies. They are definitely worth the drive even if you live a while away. They are scummy !!!! Good quality fillings and DEEP yes DEEP. Nothing worse than a half full pie with a sloppy base. There are so many varieties of pies and we love their chicken hot chips. And we always get a family apple pie to take home. You really need to see the pie to understand just how High it is. When I first bought one, I thought the pastry had just risen into an airball. but no, it was full of fresh apply pieces. It sits about 12cm high. Only negative would be please give it a good paint and/or revamp as the furniture is getting a bit run down as with the look. Besides that ... Yummy

My family rarely ever goes to Gold Coast without passing through Yatala and getting some of their pies. We always get the Chicken & Mushroom Pie, but my favourite has to be the Berry Pie with the lovely crumbly top.

We never come back from the Goldie, without stopping in here & I mean never. I personally generally hate pies & will only eat theirs, they are so fresh & decent chunks of steak or chicken in them. My fav is the steak & mushroom, I normally buy 3, so I have them for lunch or a snack the following days, one thing is there is always a line up on the weekends, but it is well worth the turn off the highway!

We visit this awesome, historic pie palace at least once a fortnight for the best pies on the Gold Coast. The joint is often packed, with a good queue in the drive thru as well but that doesn't affect the level of friendly service. There is a great range of cakes and pastries, cold drinks and the pies offer a great variety as well. I love the chicken and veggie pie.. steak, bacon&cheese is kick ass.. The Kelly pie with steak, bacon, egg, onion always sells out fast obviously! And the triangles are delicious!! Everything is served fresh and crispy and melts in your mouth. You can even grab a serve of mushy peas to top it off or grab a big cold family pie to take home! A+++ 5 stars!

It is simply not possible to say anything bad about this awesome business!
They have amazing pies, a really wide variety and you can buy them either cold or heated. The beauty of this is that they freeze beautifully, so you can grab one for now (hot) and munch on it on the way home, and a few others (cold) to pop in the freezer for the next time you have a craving and can't make it down to Yatala.
On average you are looking at about $5 per pie, and they are worth it - nice solid chunky items, not dodgy, no filling type things.
Most people I know drop in on the way to or from the Gold Coast, but I do have one friend who used to go weekly and buy about 40 pies to take to work at night for everyone he worked with. He did this for about 8 weeks, it was absolutely crazy, but made him the most popular staff member on the night shift. They really are that good that you will have everyone around you jealous.
Absolutely worth the drive, in my opinion no matter where you live :-)

Approximate cost: $5

I've been wanting to check out the famous Yatala Pies for a long time. I must do so next time I had down to the Gold Coast.

Yatala Pies is the only bakery you need to visit. If you have relatives up in QLD for a holiday than this bakery is a MUST!! Always fresh, always real meat and heaps of variety. Huge selection of sweet treats too :)

There's no better way to finish off a way down the coast than stopping off for a Yatala Pie. My daughter is now 9 and she was only a few months old on my first trip. They are the most beautiful pies with a huge variety.
