Superb home style Japanese that's very direct to the point. Had the wagyu beef curry that warms your taste buds and heart on a cold winter's night- perfect balance of curry flavours and soft veggies and beef portions. The unagu mabushi (eel mixed with rice) had a dollop of wasabi which was surprisingly great condiment to the slightly seasoned sweet soy rice. The flavors weren't over the top but they tickled the taste buds! LOVE IT! Also superb value for money (only $10 for the wagyu curry) ... Looks like great lunch specials with a lot of variety too! Might wanna try their yakiniku next time (more pricey though, but seems like their specialty).
I wasn't expecting much, but Sushi-Ya turned out to be a pleasant surprise, serving authentic and delicious Japanese cuisine. Japanese food is my favorite cuisine, and having lived and eaten in Japan for four years, I am pretty picky about the food quality, particularly with sushi and sashimi. This place meets my standard and gets our thumbs up. ...
If you want real Japanese ramen. This is the place. Order the tonkotsu ramen and Katsu curry. It is not a romantic setting. But if u want to read some Japanese manga while you eat, they have free manga to eat.
What keeps me coming back? There's just something about their coffee that I love. I think it has something to do with the level of acidity? Or maybe the skilled baristas? I'm no expert but whether it's a skim cap, piccolo or a cold drip I am always happy with how it tastes. Their all day menu is scribbled on a black chalkboard which is extended on the weekends boasting some interesting dishes. .
Yum yum yum!! Have been anticipating this meal since we arrived in Sydney. We finally got a table after missing out on a booking three nights in a row. We came for Sunday lunch and the huge space was near full. We ordered the prawn linguine and mussel and squid spaghetti Nero, with a side of their famous polenta chips. The linguine was perfectly salted and came out so hot that it must have just left the pan. The seafood pasta came with squid ink spaghetti and a generous serving of octopus and mussels. The service was great, a very chatty and helpful waiter. Would recommend getting the main size of the pasta (entrees looked small) and also the Bellinis are top notch! Make sure you book!!
'Tuesday night Italian'. My partner and I had frequented La Piazza in the past, usually as a weeknight lazy dinner.
It's not too overcrowded, and they provide standard Italian food in generous portions for a reasonable price.
Unfortunately for La-Piazza, we were blown away by the cuisine of the place down the street, and save for a meal here and there - are converts and no longer eat here as often.
Excellent place to have Indian. Great service, the food tastes amazing and it's reasonably priced. I had a banquet with a friend here and we were so full when we left we could barely walk. You get free refills when you have the banquet which is great especially when the butter chicken is one of the best I've ever had!
Great coffee and good poached eggs! I can only vouch for those as that is the only thing i've eaten.
They have indoor which is more communal based and outdoor seating more for groups of 2 or more. It sometimes feels crowded inside even when there are only a handful of people there.
Their menu is on the blackboard on the wall behind the coffee machine, sometimes you have to walk in and stand in front of it in order to understand the writing.
Overall, its ok.
An amazing hidden gem of a restaurant off the road. The food is authentic italian style and the menu was unique. Too many great dishes to have a favorite. The service was outstanding and the waitress extremely good in her recommendations on what to order.
We enjoyed our meal here. As recommended by my husband and I had the Row meal which was prawns on the night we went. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Nice setting and enjoyable.
Approximate cost: $50
