The secret of the uninviting Moorabbin Industrial Estate. A brewery that is open as a drinking and eating house on Thursdays and Fridays. Drink great beer and be surrounded by the machines that make it in a very warm and hospitable beer hall. And also learn about beer. A great place to take your Dad if he likes a beer and how it's made. Free Brewery tour every Thursday at 6.30pm
Approximate cost: $5-10
Well I've praised this lovely cafe before. But since I am leaving Melbourne for the country soon and with what is going on at the moment I thought I should award my gold medal to them sooner than later. I will miss their wonderful coffee and the grooviest, unique (secret herbs and spices) steak sandwiches in very tasty Turkish style bread. The best coffee in the South Eastern suburbs. Ex-cafe owners in the area will back me up on this. Current ones have a vested interest in staying mum about it :-) May all the Chi Chi girls have a long and successful career. Au Revoir for now.
Approximate cost: $10-15
If its hot chocolate time, then cant beat the the very lovely gals here who use the Italian brand Fraus to make the most lush hot chocolate I have ever had. Sure there are the big chains but they'll charge you 50-100% more. Great hot chocolate at a great value price. Though I usually buy their fantastic coffee, because I am counting the calories, and an unhealthy cigarette goes better with coffee :-)
The lovely girls here do one of the best expressions of the Genovese coffee brand I have ever had in my long experience of cafe coffee. I'm a very fussy Italian, so I should know about good coffee. Highly recommended.
I thought the food was pretty good and reasonably priced for what is carefully and very well presented on the plate.
Yes if you are a hot chocolate lover, you need to check out the Fraus [ Italian brand :-) ] range of chocolate based beverages they do. Very rich, hedonistic stuff !
