Kith + Nosh is one of the new cafes springing up in Lonsdale Street which offer food which is both delicious and healthy. Because they believe food should be savoured slowly, they provide a range of books and board games to encourage patrons to linger.
My "Green Vegan" salad was excellent, and my partner enjoyed his "Hunter & Gather" breakfast with home-made Nordic bread.
Kith + Nosh also provide a customer loyalty card for coffee.
3 Degrees is the ideal spot for a quick lunch in Civic. As well as serving coffee and home-style sweet treats, they offer a small range of beautifully prepared bagels and savoury goodies. (I highly recommend their smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel.) You can grab and go, or sit at a table on the sidewalk, or inside the Bailey Arcade.
The coffee and service are excellent. 3 Degrees also provide a customer loyalty card for coffee.
I joined RewardsCentral about a year ago, and it has gone downhill steadily since then. I used to get reward points for surveys, but over the last few months, I've spent 15-20 minutes doing a survey, then find myself screened out towards the end. I've joined online communities through RewardsCentral and not been rewarded as promised, and queries to the service desk have gone unanswered.
I have also noticed an increase in spam emails, which I attribute to my activities on RewardsCentral. For example, I recently did a survey about fashion jewellery, including Pandora, and today received a direct email from Pandora; I have never bought from Pandora or even even visited their site.
I now only use RewardsCentral to get points for online shopping, and even these can take up to two months to be awarded.
Space Kitchen is *the* place to eat in Woden!
This large and bustling cafe serves modern and beautifully presented lunches, as well as a selection of "you have to see them to believe them" desserts.
Our lunches were delicious and good value for money. Space Kitchen also offers gluten-free options.
As its name implies, Eighty/Twenty Food is all about providing nutritious wholefood (80%) as well as minor indulgences (20%). The first time we visited, there was hardly any food left, so we arrived early on our next trip to Lonsdale Street.
My Super Salad was prettily arranged, very generously proportioned, and full of nutritious goodies. My partner enjoyed his Chermoula Lamb, which smelled delicious. As well as sit-down cafe meals, Eighty/Twenty Food provides wrapped sandwiches and rolls for those in a hurry.
We recently engaged Dominic to replace four internal and three external doors, and were very impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail. He also suggested a glass paneled door which has given our gloomy corridor a much-needed lift. We would highly recommend him for small maintenance jobs.
The oddly-named Ha Ha Bar seems to be the only option for upmarket food at Emu Bank, which is dominated by the major food franchises.
We had a wonderful and beautifully-presented lunch there last week of beetroot-cured salmon, and a glass of wine. They provide the option of both screened and open outdoor seating, so you're always able to find a nice spot to enjoy the lake views.
Hopscotch is very busy and popular with the office lunch crowd, and the staff do a great job of keeping up. The food is a step-up from the usual pub fare, and the prices are reasonable.
Di Origine Protetta (DOP) is my new favourite lunch spot in Civic!
You can eat indoors or order from a counter facing the street. Today I had the most yummy flatbread sandwich filled with grilled mushrooms, caramelised onion and baby spinach. Often this type of fare falls apart when you attempt to eat it, or leaves oil on your hands — no such worries here! I My coffee was really great, smooth with a slight caramel taste.
The service and ambience was excellent.
Approximate cost: $16
This cafe wasn't the best. The service was a step-up from the former site occupants (Kingston & Co.) but the food was no better than average.
