Functional accomodation in a good location. There was nothing particularly special here. The main attraction is the location- very close to chinatown in the CBD. The staff were nice and accommodating, happily and sufficiently supplying newspapers and cutlery etc etc on request. The rooms were a little tired, the view was of the building next door. A comfortable stay but not a destination hotel.

A disappointing lunch choice. 2 Salads and 2 soft drinks over $50??? really? Ok, I had a large salad with smoked salmon, friend had a chicken salad. They were fine but not a lot of bang for the buck. Mixed lettuce and some bits and pieces. The people around us had pasta and steak. This looked good but who knows? Service was slow..... we wanted coffee but could find anyone to ask. I would not return again.

This is a big restaurant and usually looks quiet whenever I walk past. Dont let it fool you, the food is good (or was the time I went). There were a few of us and so we tried a variety of dishes from pasta, gnocchi, veal and steak. I had the meat and I like it mooing. It was cooked perfectly and really really really good. Service was fine, and i was a good enough experience to warrent another go.

This review is for Bavarian Bier Cafe, Parramatta NSW

The Bavarian Beer cafe is set in an old church, which, apart from being rather hilarious (beer hall in church), is a great 'space'. WE ususally sit on the benches in the beer garden though, as the inside is mainly for the proper diners. I have had the tasting snacky share bits and, of course, the beer, of which there are quite a few choices, on tap, cold and can be very LARGE. I am not a beer expert, so they seemed ok to me. The wine was ok, ok choice and fairly average price. Ditto snacks. The best part about this is that it caters well for groups and a good spot for a post work drinks.

what a surprise this place was. We had lunch and living near little Vietnam in Sydney, I didnt really expect that much. The shakes were authentic- almost like being in Saigon! (yes, i have been) and the salads and noodles were also pretty solid. Yes, I would return.

Maybe I was expecting too much? WE had a 3 course meal. The scallops for entree were deep fried and almost pulverised. That was a bad start. The main, barra, was good, but the dessert again was disappointing (sounded good but really didnt deliver- it was a souffle). For me, not worth the price but obviously a 'date' restuaant judging by other tables. Not for me- too pricey, ordinary/disappointing food.

there are limited choices for a 'fancy' meal in Darin compared to sydney so ratings are compared to what is available in Darin. The meat is really good. I was in Darwin for a week and ate at Charr 3 times. The meat is good, the chicken not that good and the seafood that i had was good. The steak I had was cooked as i ordered (rare) and the sides ok- not good, not bad. either way, i would go again.

yum, yum, yum.....our new fav for vietnamese in marrickeville. very fresh, very tasty and generous to boot. We had pancake (excellent and STUFFED with bits) the chicken salad (nice bits of chicken, no skin and meaty), the crab thick soup (lovely flavour and really good), rolls (tasty, freshly made) and fried rice (pretty std). Anyhoo- better than many, we will be back. 3 people, stuffed, drinks (fresh coconut, home made soy milk - we think!, and lemon soda) and food was about $60. great value considering. great food.

A cheap and cheerful place on king st, you dont come here for the atmosphere or fine dining. The food is good though, its fast and service is perfunctory. The place gets busy and it can be hard getting service once you have ordered without getting up and hanging around the counter. There are dishes to share as well as all in one meals which gives diners a few choices. One recommendation is the salt and pepper squid- crunchy and crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside.

good spanish in chinatown- who would have thought?, yet here it is. it gets pretty jammed, with lots of big groups so its wise to book. the food is good. hearty, tasty and authentic. They also have pizza (a bit odd, i think) which i have not had before. ive tried the specials as well as the day to day menu and we tend to stick to the day to day. always extra to take home, its good to go with a few people so you can try lots of different things. the paella is yum, but i like the squids ink dish- need a few people for this one, its rich and hard to eat too much of it.
