I'm far from an enthusiastic gym-goer, but I love Virgin Active. The equipment is plentiful and well-maintained (and goes well beyond the basic treadmill-bike-rower setup), there's a great variety of classes, and other unique touches like sleep pods, a rock climbing wall, spa & plunge pool, etc. The (female) change rooms are big, bright and clean - although it can be hard to get a locker at peak times.

Approximate cost: $55 per fortnight, plus joining fee

The best brazilian I've ever had - it barely hurt and my skin felt wonderful afterwards. It's not cheap, but worth every penny.
