This review is for Cordelia's Cafe, Rozelle NSW

Cordelia's Cafe have a great range of wheat and gluten free food options. I've been there for breakfast a couple of times, and they offer all of their dishes with somewhere around 10 different types of bread. The first time I went I had Poached Eggs and Rice Flour bread with bacon, which cost around $9, with a coffee, the second time I had Toast with Butter & Jam which cost $3.50 (with a coffee), and the most recent time I had a bacon and egg sandwich ($6.50) with wholemeal spelt bread - also with a coffee. All of these options were fantastic. At Cordelia's they serve Campos Coffee which is a coffee with a mild flavour $3.50 - it's delicious with Soy $0.50 extra.

Basically, you can get a great feed that has a wide range of alternative options for people with dietary needs.

I haven't been for dinner, but they also serve Soup, Pizza (including Gluten Free) and a number of different sandwiches and melts.

This place is fast becoming one of my favourites for a great weekend breakfast.

Approximate cost: $Around $10 for breakfast Including a coffee

For a pet shop of it's size, I was surprised at the lack of range. They had barely anything in the way of fish product. I wasn't expecting to be able to buy fish, but thought I would be able to get fresh weed for my tank - no luck. They did however have water ager, which was what I was urgently in need of!

This review is for Shearer's Cook Hot Bread Shop, Cronulla NSW

This bakery has a great range of breads, pastries, pies, cakes & desserts. Of particular appeal to me are their Gluten Free Loaves (made of Rice Flour substantially) which are $4 for white and $4.50 for pumpkin and sage. This is really good quality gluten free bread and is a definite need in the Sutherland Shire.

Their other products are also delicous!!!

Approximate cost: $4

Tek's is basically a Hot Dollar variety store style of shop, that sells basic homewares including kitchenware, clothing, hardware etc. at bargain prices. The quality is, I guess, what you would expect for the price you're paying. I bought a spray bottle that was broken after only a couple of uses - it only cost around $2 though,

This review is for Burgerman, Darlinghurst NSW

verified email - 23 Jun 2009

Burgerman has to be one of Sydney's best burger places. Don't go there expecting take-away quality burger. They serve up gourmet burgers and are even available on Spelt Bread. The burgers were delicious, with great chips available separate. They also have some vegetarian burgers.

Approximate cost: $12

I had a function for my birthday here this year, and I booked for 20 people, at outside tables near the bar. They did get a little confused with my booking which was a worry, but it worked out fine in the end.

We went for bar food and cocktails (mainly cocktails). The cocktails were $12, which I think is great value. They weren't necessarily the best cocktails with the freshest ingredients, but they were still enjoyable, and having friends at uni - it definitely suited them. There is a seafood restaurant, which looked like it was really busy. The menu is available on the website.

Service at the bar was slow. There were only two bartenders for the whole outside area, which I don't think is enough when you are serving cocktails.

Never the less, it made a great place to start a night at.

Approximate cost: $12 Cocktails, Entrees from $14, Mains for $30

This review is for World Bar, Darlinghurst NSW

I've been to World Bar twice. The first time, I thought it was tiny - didn't realise there was more then one room, we didn't stay long because it was late and we were ready to go home. The second time I went, we ordered their signature teapot cocktails (as the name suggests, cocktails - served in teapots). We got a couple to share, and they gave us little shot glasses to make that easy.

The music in the front room was fantastic the night we were there, and on this night, I realised that there were actually a lot of rooms. There was a big room down the back that had alternative music playing, then when you went upstairs there were toilets, then up again to another bar and dancefloor, up again to an area of lounges and then up a final flight of stairs to another bar and dancefloor. It felt like it was never ending bars. Each bar offered slightly different music, each having its own DJ. Had a great night, and stayed till the wee hours of the morning.

Approximate cost: $16 for a teapot cocktail

This review is for Bungalow 8, Sydney NSW

verified email - 23 Jun 2009

I've been to Bungalow 8 a few times for a variety of occasions, and while I do like it there, there is consistently a large amount of shattered glass on the floor. I guess that this is because the dance floor space is limited, and drinks are allowed on the dance floor - just beware of what shoes you wear!

There is a DJ and also on most occasions a live drummer. I will say I'm not a fan of the live drummer, however that's just personal preference. I've found it to be polarizing amongst the opinions of my friends - you either love it or you hate it. They play a variety of popular dance music including some anthems.

Food is a little over priced in my view - however when you consider the location, you are paying a premium. Drinks are reasonably priced for the location,(I paid $7 for a glass of wine).

Approximate cost: $20-25

This review is for Fringe Bar, Paddington NSW

I love Fringe Bar, despite often having to Queue for a while for drinks. They have a few separate areas in which you can hold functions. If you want an area for yourself and your friends, booking is advisable as they do get very busy, particularly if you don't want to get there early. I've been to a few functions here, and also to the Fringe Bar Markets which are definitely worth a look on a Saturday afternoon. I've ordered cocktails, along with standard drinks here, and prices are good for a bar of it's quality.

It does get very loud and can be difficult to hear others talk, but it makes for an enjoyable night.

They do serve pizza's and other barfood which is quite good, all for around $10 - $12.50

Approximate cost: $15 cocktails, $10 for Pizza or Salad

This review is for Moon's Sushi, Caringbah NSW

verified email - 23 Jun 2009

I love the Sushi that is made in the comfortable Sushi Shop in Caringbah. There isn't all that much table space, so I'd probably recommend getting takeaway as it can be quite cramped. The Miranda, Jannali and Engadine shops however have a lot more space.

I can't tell you how much I love the sushi here. Prices have gone up recently, so my lists may not be 100% accurate.

Small Rolls - 1 ingredient, eg. Salmon, Cooked Tuna or Avocado are approximately $3.50
Medium Rolls - A small roll with either cucumber, avocado or vegies. Eg. Cooked Tuna with Avocado - $5
Large Rolls - Double the size of a medium roll. $9.50S
Special Large Rolls including "New Crunch" which is king prawn on top of a large vegie roll with mayo on top - my favourite.

They also sell mixed Sushi Plates, Sashimi Plates and catering packs which vary in cost depending on how many pieces you get. If you love sushi, i guaruntee you will love this place - it's all freshly made to order.

Approximate cost: $Rolls - approx $10-15pp. Include Sashimi $20-25pp
