I went to the Ashfield Hotel on a Thursday night. It was quiet, but still had a number of customers. There is a bistro, from which I purchased the $10 Steak, Chips & Salad (available every night). The steak was cooked to perfection, exactly how I ordered it and was a very enjoyable meal. They have a number of other cheap meals, including chicken parmigiana. They also serve $5 cocktails on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, many of which contain "purple corn juice" which is a super juice - delicious & interesting!

Crocodile Hotel has a medium sized bistro on it's second floor. The decor is minimal and creates a clean, comfortable atmosphere. I have ordered the $10 Steak Special on two occasions. It comes with Chips, Salads and choice of sauce on the side. It is a great value bistro meal available every night of the week. There a number of other pub style items ranging up to approx $17. Table service is available. There are also a number of couches to the side, and a bench. You wouldn't feel out of place eating here by yourself.

Small bistro sized area, it was a Thursday night and very quiet. I was one of two diners, and ate a Grilled Chicken Parmigiana. It was nice that they had the non-crumbed option as I try to avoid wheat. It came with both salad & chips and service was prompt.
