Very busy and crowded restaurant / tea shop. Tasty and fresh yum-cha and delicious tea but a little expensive compared to other places I've been. Quick service generally, staff are polite. Not a huge selection of dishes but enough to try a few different things. A good place to stop and revive in between shopping.

After being treated like cattle one too many times by the big chains, I was looking for an independent supermarket with a good product range, especially in fresh produce. I heard about LaManna via word of mouth. I swear I will never go back to the other ones!
LaManna has a huge selection of grocery items - almost everything I used to buy at the big chains but with more than just "home brand" products and one other brand. You get a true selection. In addition to groceries, there is the fresh produce; there's fresh fish, seafood, fruit and veg and all types of meat - your standard chicken, beef, pork and lamb, PLUS veal, rabbit, goat, quail, duck etc. There is fresh fruit juice, home-made dips and a cake section to die for. There's also a bulk-buy section, a liquor section and fresh flowers. The staff are friendly and helpful, there are random specials (eg. lucky door prizes, free products if you spend a certain amount, 10% off your total bill), plus a customer loyalty program - free gift on joining (for free) and then you accrue points everytime you shop. There is also a cafe. Parking is ample, use of trolleys is free. I've never been happier to do the shopping.

This brand new salon has recently opened and offers plenty of beauty services: waxing, massage, manicures, pedicures, hair-dressing etc. The pedicure comes with a seat in an amazing massage chair, complete with audio system. The staff are friendly, the salon is clean and the prices are very reasonable.

This place is wonderful. I have been visiting off and on for over 5 years and do not have a bad thing to say about it. The establishment is clean, well-lit and stocked with everything you might need post bathing. The staff are friendly yet unobtrusive. The entire experience is always a relaxing one. You can just bathe, or add a shiatsu massage and spend time relaxing in the lounge. For those who have an issue with nude bathing, be aware that this is a requirement but it is sex-segregated and has a limit to the number of people in the bath. I have never felt uncomfortable in this environment. It's tucked away in a little street but is easy to find and is like a haven away from the noise and traffic. I always leave feeling refreshed and relaxed.

This review is for Andy's Yum Cha House, Essendon VIC

This is a gem of a restaurant. It's quite tiny, seats about 30 at a push, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in delicious-ness!!
Andy's serves yum-cha in the evenings (which is a bonus as it's usually a lunchtime thing) as well as at lunch. All of the menu items are made to order too, so there's no steamy cart being pushed around. You order what you want and it comes out hot and fresh. There is a fabulous selection of steamed and fried dumplings as well as soups, main courses and desserts. There are also set menu options. There is even colour-coding on the menu to let you know approximately how long each dish takes to cook. It's BYO too. The staff are friendly and put up with you dithering around while you decide what you want! There are pictures of what most of the menu items look like (which always make me even hungier!) Because of the size, you need to book ahead, especially on Friday & Saturday nights (they also have a minimum spend of $20 per head on those nights). Tasty, fresh food served by patient and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

This review is for La Porchetta, Niddrie VIC

verified email - 12 Feb 2010

There is no denying that La Porchetta offers value for money but on the customer service scale...? Awful, just awful. I'd prefer to pay extra for my pizza rather than put up with the lack of service, especially when you choose to dine-in.
A small group of friends and I went just after Christmas. We all had a meal and then were left for some time without anyone even coming near us. Eventually we had to flag someone down to place a dessert and coffee order. When the dessert arrived, the wrong one was brought out - I pointed this out to the staff member who went back to the kitchen area and then returned to tell me that "this is what you have to have because there's been a problem". (The server had dropped the Lemon Tart). I wasn't offered a choice or an apology or any explanation at all. I would have happily ordered something else from the menu if it had been offered. Only a small thing, so we paid and left, but I thought I'd e-mail them in the interests of constructive feedback and staff training. I feel sorry for the junior staff, who obviously get very little in the way of customer service training or complaint management up-skilling. (No point in whinging if you don't do anything about it!) I e-mailed the Niddrie strore directly - the response? The in-box couldn't receive the correspondence as it was too full. This suggests that they never even check for customer feedback. Next, I e-mailed the head office. I've done this twice now and haven't even received an acknowledgement. I'd been a customer long before they turned into a franchise and I do concede that the food, whilst basic, is very nice and good value but I refuse to set foot in the place until I get a response. I'm also discouraging family, friends and colleagues from patronising La Porchetta.

This review is for Mirenesse, Keilor VIC

I placed my first order with Mirenesse yesterday and the goods arrived today! The products are excellent - particularly the mascara - which is water-based, water-proof, smudge-proof and so easy to remove. In addition, the product I wanted came with a bonus pack of other goodies. Excellent value, plus everyone loves a freebie! Lots of specials on the website too. Australian-designed product to boot.

I have used this company on several occasions and have always been delighted with the products. The website is easy to use and offers a huge range of designs for personalization. Orders are processed promptly and Julie updates you once your order has been completed and then dispatched. The product is of an excellent quality and makes for really special gifts. Note Couture caters for a wide range of budgets too. All goods arrive well-packaged and exactly as you ordered them. Highly recommended.

Very busy restaurant that does not disappoint with its excellent Chinese cuisine. The yum cha at lunch is fresh, hot and delicious - Chinese doughnuts are divine. At dinner time, there is an extensive menu, including Chef's recommendations. Staff are very friendly and attentive.

I wanted something different for a party so decided to hire a cocktail machine dispensing frozen alcoholic beverages. I searched and found this company. They offered a large selection of popular drink mixes online. Ordering and payment was simple and the service was excellent. The machines and cocktail mixes were delivered and picked up. Easy mixing instructions were provided and all we had to do was add the ingredients, switch the machine on and voila!! Frozen (adults-only) drinks for all. You need to provide your own alcohol which adds to the cost but it was enjoyed by all guests and was lots of fun.
