This is the best sushi I have ever tasted, and I have tasted a lot! The prices are the same as I pay in metro Hobart which I was quite surprised at. My favourite is the bento box which gives samples of a few different types of sushi along with seaweed and pickled octopus which are dressed very nicely. The other bonus with this sushi bar is that they don't charge you for extra soy sauce! Highly recommended.

What a great little sushi bar and noodle house hidden away on the street level at the rear of Glenorchy Plaza (BIG W). Some sushi is pre-prepared but it is fresh that day and if they have run out they will make it fresh for you. Their hot meals are all cooked fresh and are good quality and plentiful.

This is only a small Vinnies store compared to most of them. They have a section for size 16 and up in ladies wear and I found 2 lovely skirts that looked brand new for $5 each, what a bargain! I also checked out the stuffed toys for my dog but there were only a few and nothing suitable. This store also has a lot of sheets for sale.

A great little bakery/cafe that I have been to a few times and has quite reasonably priced lunches with good variety. My cappuccino wasn't very hot though! There is also a good selection of cakes and pastries and although they look delicious the prices are quite exorbitant and the serving sizes are small which is prohibitive to making a purchase.

Unfortunately the fish and chips from here are expensive for what they are and I have had better frozen fish and chips from the supermarket cooked at home in the oven! Tasteless food, unceremoniously dumped in a cane basket basket with a paper napkin for a liner. A very disappointing experience and I won't return as there are much better options within walking distance.

I've visited this restaurant twice, both times for lunch. The first experience was great, mouth-watering steak that melted in my mouth and although not a large serve it was adequate. Unfortunately the second visit was a major disappointment. I actually ordered the same meal as I had loved it so much the first time. However, on this occasion I was extremely disappointed. The steak seemed tough and sinewy and the taste and presentation of the vegetables were also lacking on this occasion. For a "fine dining" restaurant the food quality on this occasion was definitely not up to par. The other complaint on this occasion was the exceedingly hot room. I understand there are large glass windows and it was the middle of the day but that is what an airconditioning thermostat is for! I don't enjoy sweating while eating and my query regarding the air temperature was met with indifference by the wait staff. As this restaurant is rather pricey I won't be returning after this bad experience.

This review is for State Cinema Bookshop, North Hobart TAS

An eclectic mix of books, collectables, kitchen ware, novelty and gay-themed products. A lovely window and store display that catches the eye, draws you in the door and then draws you further and further into the store. Prices definitely aren't cheap but that can only be expected in this neck of the woods! A lovely store to browse nevertheless.

I will never go to a large chain cinema again after finding the State Cinema. Housed in a beautiful heritage building with some new additions there is a beautiful ambience on entering the front doors. Prices are very reasonable but what I loved the most was the intimacy of the small cinemas which I'm guessing would hold around 100 people each. Although they have never been more than about 20% full on the occasions I have attended! The other attraction here is the large cafe which serves snacks and light meals at reasonable prices. I also love foreign films which are shown here on a regular basis although mainstream films are also shown. A lovely place for a date!

What a fantastic restaurant, possibly the pick of the bunch for value for money on the North Hobart restaurant strip. I have visited twice in the last couple of months. The gnocchi marinara I had for dinner was cooked perfectly with a flavoursome sauce and a good amount of seafood included. My other 2 dining companions were just as impressed with their pasta meals. All meals were a good size and more than a decent feed for the price. On my other visit my girlfriend and I shared a lunch of wedges with sweet chilli sauce & sour cream and a chicken caesar salad, both were very large serves and we weren't charged extra when we asked for plenty of sour cream and there was indeed plenty! Prices are very reasonable, the lunch meal only came to around $30 and that included a soft drink each as well.

Meals here are utterly delectable although a little on the small side and quite pricey. Being an upper market "fish cafe" this is to be expected but is still worth a visit from seafood aficionados for the food quality alone. One thing I did find disturbing was the over-zealous table attention from the wait staff who "hovered" and "paced" the whole time we were eating which was quite off-putting.

Approximate cost: $25
