Had dinner at Sicilian Italian restaurant and went for a walk to pretend we did some exercise after dinner. Dropped into Coco Cubano and got prime seating, on the corner with an open window.
We were just after, after dinner cocktails. Wife had a strawberry daiquiri - very nice, and I had an 'original mojito. Wife loved hers, but mine just wasn't what I was used to.
Guess we'll have to go back. Service was great.

Wife & I got a free nights stay at Novatel Parramatta. Came up from Canberra for the weekend. Went for a walk down Church St looking for a good place to go for dinner.
Unfortunately, we couldn't get into Crinitti's without a substantial wait. Went across the road and went to Sicilian. Had lots of people in there.
I had a beer of course, wife just had water (we weren't even driving).
For entree, we had the salt & pepper calamari - vey tender and quite nice.
I had a pizza (of course) which was ok, not outstanding. Wife had a pasta dish with seafood. She did ask for extra extra chilli and they failed to provide. Pasta wasn't nice at all.
Service was ok. Won't be going back.

Wife & I went there for lunch on a Saturday. No requirement for a reservation. Staff were very friendly and gave us a table at the window and offered us either tap or sparkling water. Friendly waitress came and gave us the spiel on the specials of the day & let us go through the menu.
For a shared entree, we ordered the prawns with cherry tomatoes, garlic and toasted ciabatta. Very nice but a little bit salty and couldn't taste any chilli.
I always go for pizza & was surprised when my wife ordered one as well. She ordered the gambrel - prawn pizza with extra extra chilli - quite nice and the chilli was hot. I ordered the capricciosa with extra chilli. Nice, and had it cold for lunch the next day. I don't know why they put the bottled artichoke on it, not much flavour and it was a little bit woody.
Overall, it was a nice lunch for us that came to $60 for two.
We would go back if we were staying in Canberra.

Approximate cost: $60

This place has just opened under the new Bunnings. Great friendly & helpful staff & good prices. I am a lover of Banh Mi & they do it great (best we have found in Canberra). Rolls were great (just baked), pate looks home made & tastes delicious. Had all the ingredients except for shallot, but they tasted great. You can also get crackling with it. The crackling turned out to be a couple of slices of roast Chines pork that had been heated up. Absolutely delicious. (they also do crackling rolls, salad rolls & chicken rolls). Chilli is a nice burner as well. We will definitely be (actually I have been back - twice) back. Its the only place in Canberra for a good Banh Mi on a great Long (Saigon) roll.
I also love meat pies - so on my first visit I got one to try. Good pastry, nice flavour (plain pie) & I'll have another one. They do different flavours. $3.50 for a pie - $6.90 for the Banh Mi. Great value. Highly recommend.

Approximate cost: $6.90

This place must have new owners. I used to come here in 2014 if I couldn't get to Hong Ha. This time the rolls were not good, too flaky & dry. Perhaps not enough mayo & pate. Either way, the taste just wasn't there. Pork was different as well, looked like some dry pulled pork, some boiled pork belly & I'm not sure if there was the third type. Also, there was no shallot or coriander. Disappointing but, I'll give them another go next year when we move back to Sydney.

Approximate cost: $7.80

Darling loves burgers. We went here for lunch on a Saturday. Not crowded, very friendly staff, sat down and ordered. Darling had the Chili burger with chips - burger was a bit overcooked and dry, flavours ok, chips nice. I had the scotch steak chili samba with chips. Nice flavour. Drinks, I had a ginger beer and Darling had a lemon, lime & bitters ($10) ouch.
It was something different, tasted nice but I don't think we'll be back. I prefer Brod Burger. Cost - $41.00

Wife got me into Bikram yoga - and I'd like to say I've been converted - its great. I'm in the Army & I've got a few injuries (back & knees mostly) & I have found that Bikram yoga does help. We moved from Sydney to Canberra & found Bikram Canberra, located at Mitchell is great. Staff are great, especially Tracy and Gillian (the owners). Sessions are enjoyable, the time goes quickly and you feel great after. If you do have injuries, I do recommend trying this yoga (the heat helps) - it has helped me. Buckram Canberra (Mitchell) is the best in Canberra. Prices vary for new comers, members or just drop in. We have joined $60 per year, & then each session is $12. Great value. Drop in prices are about $20.

Wife & I went to have High Tea (she loves it - I go along). They have three types, original (scones, sandwiches, sweet stuff etc), Asian (pork bao, prawn something, wonton wraps, sweet stuff etc) and Gentleman (mini pies, sausage rolls, sweet stuff etc) all with a choice of either tea (tea comes with everything), glass of sparkly or beer, or cocktail - prices differ by about $10). We went for the Asian - loved it although too much sweet stuff. I had a beer & Darling had a cocktail - 1939 - absolutely delicious & I want to find the recipe, I had a beer (absolutely delicious). Venue is great, staff were very helpful & we had a great time at this hotel. Recommend it to all those blokes that love their wives.
We will go back again (I've been told). (price for two)

Approximate cost: $110.

Moved fm Sydney to Canberra (Army) & I've had the misfortune to move around Australia quite a lot. This latest move fm Sydney was an experience. Day 1 - Two people to start the packing. One was excellent - very methodical and professional. The other (young female) was doing the kitchen and was more interested in her mobile phone. They sent another four people in the afternoon to finish packing, which they did but quite late. Packing the trucks occurred on day 2 - no problems there.
Down in Canberra however, they turned up with a completely different crew - all Uni students. I knew we were in trouble when the truck turned up with the container packed onto the truck the wrong way so they couldn't open the container. Finally the Uni students started to unpack - as they weren't the crew that packed they didn't know what any boxes contained. Still it didn't stop one Uni student placing a plastic container on the bottom of a trolly and then some heavier boxes on top. What a surprise when the plastic container was crushed. Finally got unpacked fm the trucks. Surprisingly none of the Uni students could drive the truck so it was left on the narrow road overnight. Have informed TOLL I never want this company to do any more of my removals & I would not recommend them at all. I have done over 15 removals now & they are the worst.

We haven't been here for a while. Went for Yum Cha last Sunday. Had some chicken gow gee, pork ribs, tofu rolls, chive dumplings, prawn rolls & my wife had some congee. Pork ribs were great as were the prawn rolls - nice and hot and delicious. The rest however was nothing to write about (sarc). Service was quite slow and the restaurant wasn't busy at all. We got up and left when a little cockroach ran across our table.
Price was $62 which was quite expensive for what was delivered. Won't be back for a while - prefer the Star Capital at Chatswood.

Approximate cost: $62
