Mum and I made our first visit to this Café today and we were both VERY impressed! Gorgeous coffee, the Eggs Bennie were extremely tasty and the Pancakes would have to be the lightest and most scrumptious that we have ever tasted. The service was friendly and the shop had a lovely ambience to it - with the TV, lounge chairs and magazines to read, it was like being in someone's home. Used a voucher - great value. We will definitely be making a return visit - 9/10!

This was our first visit to Gin Long and we weren't disappointed.
Not normally open on Sundays but they made an exception for Mothers Day. The restaurant was about 95% full, so the decision to open was a good one!
The service was extra friendly and all the dishes arrived almost at the same time, which was excellent.
Everyone enjoyed their choices - We had Prawn Salad, Prawn Dumplings, Chicken Satay Skewers, Duck Curry, Braised Pork Belly, Steamed Rice and a Vietnamese Coleslaw. It was all very delicious.
Only 1 minor food complaint - The duck curry only had 4 small pieces of meat in it. The rest was skin. Upon bringing it to the attention of the Chef, we were presented with another bowl of curry, with a lot more good size pieces in it.
A great gesture and very appreciated.
There is no fried rice here and the main dishes are a bit light on choice but all in all, excellent service and tasty food - certainly worthy of a return visit in the future .... 8.5/10.

Have been here a few times and have never been disappointed.

The service is always fairly quick and friendly.
The food is heaven!

Tonight we chose the Sambal Prawns, the Kung Pao Prawns and a Nasi Goreng to share. I even took a take home pack of the goreng, so I could have it with the curry I'm making tomorrow night.

It was all delicious and very moreish.
Will definitely be back.

This hotel use to be our regular haunt when we lived in the area, 9 years ago.

We decided to make a return visit, to see how things have changed. They have since renovated and it looks pretty "retro" now. Quick service and Nice food.

We both had a schnitzel, with salad and chips, as part of a "Living Social" voucher. Served quickly and everything was hot and tasty.

Will definitely make the effort to go back again!

I had purchased a couple of Scoopons for this new Burger Café, which entitled us to a burger (from a choice of 6) and a small serve of 'hand cut' chips each. Could eat in or take away.

We both chose the "Rocky Mountain High" burger, which was absolutely delicious! The patty had a beautiful "hickory smoked" taste and was topped with tomato, cheese, lettuce, caramelised onions and aioli. Cooked properly but not dried out and was very tasty.

The chips were ok - nothing wrong with them but nothing special either.

I also ordered a serve of the onion rings, for an extra cost.
Got 6 large rings, for $6. When I say large, I do mean large. Rather than thin slices coated in batter like I'm used to, these were thick slices (about a cm wide) and were coated in a very crunchy and tasty crumb mixture - fried til a golden brown. They were extremely "moreish"!!

All in all, a great experience. The chips might have been average but the burger and onion rings were the best I've ever tasted.

Service was friendly and the décor was pleasant. If you remember the Minos Café, well this Burger place is situated in the exact same spot and has taken about 1/2 the shop area.

Highly recommend you try this one out.

We had friends staying in the Hilton Hotel and we wanted somewhere close by to go out for dinner with them.

The Tiffany Thai Café was conveniently located just a 5 minute walk away, so we decided to give it a try.

For a Wednesday night, the café was very busy. It is only a small restaurant (probably hold around 50 people?), so we were lucky to find 1 table of 4 not taken.

They had a $22 deal on offer, for an entrée and a main meal.
There were exclusions that were clearly marked on the menu but the choices were numerous and varied, so you didn't feel deprived!

We chose entrée's of Salt & Pepper Fish, Thai Salad and Satay Chicken and the mains were Lemongrass Seafood, Sizzling Garlic Prawns (x2) and Spare ribs. All the food was delicious, good value and served with a smile.

Would definitely go back .....

It was my 1st visit here last night with my partner and neither of us were disappointed.

I used a Living Social voucher, which entitled us to a Cocktail, plus a 2 course meal of main and desert.

The BBQ meats were presented on a platter to share and included Chicken Sausage, Lamb Chops, Chicken Breast pieces plus Beef Steaks.

On a separate plate, in their own individual dishes, were 6 accompaniments - including Raita, a tomato /cucumber and onion salad and a Mushroom sauce. We also received 1/2 a plain and 1/2 a garlic Naan Bread each. Everything was just so delicious - couldn't fault anything.

Desert was a selection of 3 mini presentations (including Chai Tea Panna Cotta and Gulab Jamun), served with a small scoop of ice cream - just enough to finish off the meal nicely.

The service was impeccable and despite the restaurant being fairly full and busy, we received prompt attention and didn't want for anything.

A great night - highly recommend. We will definitely be returning - 8.5/10!

We used a Groupon Voucher - Cost $35 for 2 people.
(This was shared entrée, main meal and a wine).

For the shared entrée, we chose Garlic Bread - It was partially burnt and tasted very dry. Not a good start.

For our mains, I had the crumbed prawns and chips, while Mum chose the Salt and Pepper Squid, with chips.

Mine was quite okay but nothing really out of the ordinary.

However, the squid was so salty, it couldn't be eaten. I love salt and usually use way too much but even I couldn't eat it!

Mum took it back to the bar and the waitress said "Well it is Salt and Pepper Squid". Mum felt quite insulted but explained she was well aware of that. However, too much salt makes it inedible.

To their credit, they offered her a new lunch and she chose the prawns which were fine.

The Salad Bar was a nice extra - they all looked fresh and tasted good.

All in all, the meal was okay and the service was fine but as we had to travel for over 30 minutes, nothing was exceptional enough, to make us drive the distance again.

Tried this place for the 1st time tonight, using a "Living Social" voucher for a Take Away deal.
It was $57 for 4 Entree's , 4 Mains, 4 Fried Rice and 4 Cans of Drink. The only exclusions were Duck and Seafood.
We thought this was very good value.

We picked 2 Chicken Satay and 2 Dim Sims for the entrée and 2 Sizzling Beef plus a Kung Pao Chicken and Beef for the mains.

All the dishes were very tasty and enjoyable.

I did order a Choy Sum plus some Mixed Vegetables and another Fried Rice, which I paid the extra for. Was told that it would cost $38.80. I stated that the online price was $31.80, so the lovely man changed it to the cheaper price - very nice of him!!

Although the vegetables were very nice, the serving size was quite small (only 1/2 a container) - so worked out to be quite expensive.

In fact, all the meal prices were higher than other shops (about $1 - $2 per dish) but that may be because Hyde Park is a "well to do" area and their rent might be in a higher bracket?

I phoned my order through and it was ready on time for pick up, so the Service was good.

It was a very enjoyable Valentines day dinner for myself and my partner. With the voucher, it was also great value.

Being that I had to drive almost 15 minutes to get there, I probably wouldn't use again.
(No reflection on the shop assistant or the food, just on the convenience of getting there).

Comfortable setting with good service. Able to sit outside, with umbrella's for shade, if you wish.
My friend and I went there for dinner just before Christmas (2014) and we both had the Penne Alla Panna ($18 a main meal) - Ham and mushrooms, in a rich, cream sauce. Also ordered a supreme pizza, which had the perfect crisp crust - not too thin or too thick: $20 for a 12". Only managed to eat 2 slices, as the pasta was a very generous serve!!
They were also happy to box up the leftovers for us to take home.
We finished the meal with a beautiful cup of coffee - Perfect!

The only criticism would be the man who took our order - he wasn't very pleasant. When I asked if they had a 'coffee & cake' deal, he said very nastily ... "we have coffee and we have cake but no deals". Plain Rude!
All in all though, a good night - Rate at 8/10. Would definitely return!
