This review is for YUZU Kaiten, Mount Lawley WA

Yuzu is tucked away between Fresh Provision and Brumby's in Mt Lawley. There are no visible signs of its existence from Beaufort or Walcott Streets. The place is tiny.

Yuzu's sushi is better than average. However, on my last visit I thought I'd try a few items from their a la carte menu - Agedashi Tofu ($9.40), Assorted Tempura ($19.80) and Chicken Katsu ($15.80).

The tofu was great, it was silky and the sauce was not salty or overpowering. The portion was large compared to other sushi restaurants I've eaten at. The tempura and chicken Katsu did not impress me. The vegetables and prawns were overcooked and the chicken katsu was dry and salty. It was doubly disappointing because of how pricey those two dishes were.

Approximate cost: $15.80-26.80

Probably one of my favourite place for Yum Cha in Perth.

The food trolley does come thick and fast and load your table up with Dim Sums. Service is adequate but some of the service staff need some basic training, ie if the customers eating dessert do not try to offer them savory Dim Sums.
Also the wait staff is not particularly attentive once you are seated - usually have to make multiple requests to get a drink or a fork..

Oh.. the loos are pretty disgusting but not the worst I've seen.

Stopped by Wagamama for a work lunch and ordered the Chilli Beef Ramen.

The menu description was "..noodles in a chicken soup topped with marinated grilled beef tenderloin, fresh chillies, sliced red onions, beansprouts, coriander, spring onions and a wedge of lime" sounded delicious.

Boy was I severely disappointed. Yes, it had all of the above ingredients in the bowl but the beef tenderloin was sliced with grain making it extremely chewy. The ramen was over cooked and the soup did not taste of anything particular, definitely not chicken. I did consider sending it back but I was tight for time and was starving.

While driving through Northbridge we noticed lots of people were lining up outside the New Moon for Yum Cha, so my boys (7&9) and I decided to try it out.

The place was really busy but the service was good and staff were attentive. The Dim Sum on the other hand was very disappointing. Some of them did not taste like they were freshly made and the quality was very poor. For example the BBQ pork buns tasted like it had been previously frozen and the filing were like the BBQ pork buns you buy from the Asian grocery store..yuk.

My boys rated the New Moon's Dim Sum 2/10 in comparison to Dragon Seafood Chinese Restaurant aka Dragon Palace just a bit further up on James St.

This review is for Pump Factory & Pool Supplies, Dianella WA

When my garden bore suddenly stopped working, I was getting quotes up to $300 for someone to just come out to have a look. The Pump Factory owner (I think his name is Paul) came around diagnosed the problem, took the pump away and replaced it within a few days without me giving him a cent initially.

He then organised all the insurance bits to pay for the job too.

I got the Pump Factory details from my neighbour - word of mouth...

It was great see a local small business providing good old fashion service and not taking people for a ride.
