My extended family often meet here for family celebrations as the food is great and the atmosphere is relaxed. The restaurant looks straight out over the rip at Queenscliff and you can watch the ships pass by. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced and caters for all tastes. Children are welcome, however as it is located above a 'pokies venue' you have to take the stairs and enter through a side door if you have kids with you, which can be a bit of a hassle.
My husband and I thought it would be nice to sit out in the courtyard here and have coffee and cake on Sunday afternoon at about 3pm. They had a large menu with "pancakes" and "scones, jam and cream" written on it. We decided on the scones. When the waitress came to take our order she told us they weren't serving these items and we cold have a muffin. We promptly got up and left and we won't be returning.
I am not a fan of Chinese food but I went here recently for a friend's farewell dinner and I thought it was fantastic. I ordered chicken with cashews and was really surprised when my dish arrived,. It was loaded with cashews and the chicken was breast meat, not thigh meat. I also didn't wake up thirsty in the middle of the night or get a tight asthmatic chest, therefore I know they don't use MSG in their food. All of the other meals on our table of 25 looked really tasty too.
The restaurant at Lord of the Isles is great. You can watch the chefs prepare your meal through the glass partition as you are sipping on a glass of local wine. Their wine list is extensive and their food is of a really high quality. We quite often go here for a meal and then move into the bar fora drink and to watch the football.
This is one of my favorite restaurants for breakfast and dinner. It is located on the pier at Barwon Heads and it has a fantastic view over the Barwon River and out to sea. Although it is a predominantly seafood restaurant they do cater for those of us who don't like seafood. Their menu always has a wide variety of dishes on it and their breakfasts are excellent. I would really recommend eating here.
The menu at the BHP is quite extensive with a large daily specials board full of fresh seafood. The food here is really good however it is a little pricy considering it is pub food. The atmosphere is quite relaxed and the beer garden is fantastic on a hot summer's evening.
Ocean Grove News agency had a huge variety of weekly ad monthly magazines as well as daily newspapers. The also adult and sell children's books, including themed books about Easter, Christmas and other special occasions. The news agency also sells souvenirs, bucket and spades, puzzles and games and craft activities for children. It is a really handy business to visit.
This is only a small liquor shop but it really impresses me. They have a large range of local Bellarine Peninsula wine, as well as wine from many other Australian wine regions. The staff are really helpful and will help you choose the perfect bottle of wine for any occasion.
I think this is the best hot chicken shop in Ocean Grove. They cook your chips as you order them so the are always hot and crispy and not soggy. Their chickens are cooked really nicely and the staff are really friendly. We often buy chicken and chips here on a Friday night.
We have taken our dog to this vet for the past 12 years. They are terrific with animals and very thorough with their examinations and diagnosis. Our Labrador has had arthritis for the past four years and the vets here have put him on a treatment program which treats the swelling and limits his pain. I would highly reccommend this vet to anyone in the area.
