What a great alternative to the regular burger joints! I can only comment on the vegan options, of which there are three if you order without the cheese and mayo. A pity their chips are still coated in pig fat, which would otherwise make the food perfect. It's rather a sign of the times when a burger joint can call itself "healthy" just because it offers a bit of beetroot on the roll. But still, a great go-to place when you're in a pinch and always tastes great.
Lord of the Fries has swiftly become a Melbourne institution and part of the reason why I moved here! I wish I could give them a higher score on quality, unfortunately I can't help but think the quality has diminished as they stretched their franchise operations, but that's understandable and I'd rather they become a more convenient option to the regular meat-guzzling fast food places. Worth a trip just to say you've tried it!

I really wanted to like Journal as they are rated highly in almost every melbourne coffee guide. Yet they did a lousy soy latte on the occassion I visited. Foamy milk and weak coffee. Will try again (if I can get a seat) but won't hold my breath. Also fails for offering no vegan options. Seriously, there is no excuse for that in an inner city cafe.
Really good vegetarian take away food. Fantastic curries and samosas. Highly recommend for a quick lunch or take away for dinner. If only there were more around the city and I didn't need to travel all the way to st. kilda for my fix! Vegan options clearly labelled.

Expensive for chinese food but definitely makes for a special night out. The food is always a win and the staff are lovely to a T. Although last time we were there the manager was yelling angrily at the staff in mandarin, which was a little awkward. Still an excellent, classy restaurant.
I can not for the life of me figure out why people eat here! The food is alright but the servings are tiny and the service is just a joke. At first I kept returning, hoping they had hired new staff but it seems that the wait staff are taught that rudeness equates to trendiness. For a while there it was a game to see how many times we could be treated like scum in one visit. Don't ask them which of the items are vegan or could be made vegan, unless you want to fear having your food spat in no matter how polite you are. Also I once found a long black hair in my juice. I sent it back and had the same juice returned to me with the hair taken out. Really wish this place had nicer staff because I think it could be a nice dining experience otherwise.
Oh lordy those pumpkin triangles are a dream! I always order one to take home with me. Decent coffee and good friendly service. Too bad it's so far out of the city. Waiting patiently for these guys to start a franchise. Highly recommend.
Sometimes this place is great, but usually it's pretty awful, especially if you are looking for a decent vegetarian meal. The vegie curry contains fish sauce and they recently removed the one totally vegan item from their menu (epic fail). Sadly, one of the few non-pretentious pubs left in Brunswick.
These guys are booking nazis. If only the vegan pizza and chocolate cake weren't so good! The curries are usually pretty bland, but the Mostly Greens and Gado Gado are always lovely and fresh.
