I like buying books here as the prices always seem to be a few dollars below what most other places are selling for. I haven't needed assistance from the staff when I've gone in, so I'm not sure how helpful they are, but they've always been quick and polite at the checkout.
I absolutely love BreadTop. There is an enormous variety of delicious, incredibly unhealthy things to choose from (salmon floss bun is a particular favourite!), everything is always fresh and appetising to look at. The only thing I could complain about would be the fact that it's cash only - annoying, but clearly they make enough without offering eftpos that they don't care at all!
The selection and pricing could be better, but what they do have is very very tasty! I've come here several times with knitting friends to sit, have drinks, and knit for a while, and I have never felt unwelcome or rushed (even though we've sometimes occupied seats for a good few hours!). Other places in Southbank don't seem as keen to have us, even though we're spending a good $20-30 each!
During the summer my friends and I take our children here at least once a week to play - they are all under 5 so it's great value (for now, at least!). We have a play in the water, some lunch, another play and then head home - it makes for very sleepy children and some very happy mummies! :)
The food is reasonably good, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. We have been neglected on more than one occasion - we've been seated, but had to wait a good 15 minutes or more for a drinks order to be taken. We have actually walked out once when this occurred. Be aware that the weekends can be extremely busy, and even if you have a booking, be prepared to wait a long time to be served.
We have been patronizing this pharmacy for years, and even with an ownership change we have always felt cared for and looked after. They are happy to spend time to help find the right product, and they've done special orders when we've needed it. The chemists are quite knowledgeable and helpful, especially when I have asked about medications and safety for pregnancy and breastfeeding.
While I am quite pleased with my haircut, I felt rushed (they closed at 2pm, my appointment was at 1:30) like they were trying to get me out the door as quickly as possible. Very few pleasantries, but that's usually OK with me as I'm not real keen on the chit-chat factor. I will go again, but I'll try to get an earlier appointment so the staff are a bit "fresher!"
I've had spa pedicures here a few times now, and it's always a bit hit and miss. Yesterday the girl painting my toes didn't do a great job, but she did paint my three-year-old's toes for free, so I can't really complain TOO much. The girl doing the pedi this time seemed to be in a big hurry, so it wasn't the relaxing experience it had been in the past.
We've taken our dog here to be washed for years - it was especially good when I was pregnant as I could get them to wash the mutt for me! They always do a great job and are very caring and friendly with the animals, both human and canine :)
We've bought one of these books every year for years now, as we always get great value out of the vouchers. For example, go to each of the big zoos around with an extra adult guest, and the book has almost paid for itself! We've also discovered some really good new restaurants as a result of looking through the book and deciding where we'd like to eat. Can't imagine going a year without one :)
