Miss them being at Woodcroft, but well worth the longer trip to Dover Gardens. Their fortified wines are wonderful and very well priced. If you have a port barrel their port and muscat can be purchased in bulk at around $11 per flagon - and it is delicious. They also offer a range of sparkling and non-sparkling juices at around $4.50 bottle and $6 flagon. The service is friendly and helpful. Fully recommend.

The day we went here it was very busy and difficult to get a seat, so we settled on very low stools at a low table. For someone my age this was not very comfortable. I was really annoyed that there was a chap, using the free wifi, who was sitting alone at a table for four, and he had obviously finished his coffee as there was no cup evident. We did manage to change seats after about 10 minutes.
As it was so busy the service (by only one young lovely waitress who was trying to do her best) was a little slow. My husband had an espresso while I had an iced coffee and both were very nice. We shared a delicious cheesecake as well as some amazing truffles (which were well priced). The cafe was very relaxing with a great decorating and has a pleasant atmosphere.

This cafe/deli offers inside and alfresco dining for breakfast and lunch. The local newsagency shares the premises.
I enjoyed a delicious panini and milkshake.
The prices were reasonable, the service was good and the food lovely.

There was a huge variety of foods available, either to dine-in or take-away. At the counter our order was taken and we were told about 15 minutes as they were very busy. We ordered whiting and chips. Well after this time had elapsed I noticed that other customers were being given a ticket after ordering, and that others (who had arrived after us) were walking out of the shop with their food. I eventually went to the counter and asked when we could expect ours. I was told shortly. It took 50 minutes in total before we received it. We also purchased some ice-creams for dessert. Admittedly the food was delicious but it was a pity about the service.

Lovely roomy place that is well decorated and welcoming, as are the staff. There is an inviting little area with comfy lounges in front of an open fire which would be lovely in winter - overlooking the bay. Great service and excellent food at reasonable price. Chicken and beef burgers were huge.
The restaurant is immaculate.

We saw the food van at Kingscote on the weekend and I went to investigate. The food looked good but we had already eaten. We were told that they have a Thursday evening dinner at their farm near American River.
We arrived early and were very quickly followed by quite a crowd, with many locals. The area has a huge shed with two enclosed spaces and one area with an open side where the food van and bar are located. They offer the type of food available in shopping mall food-courts, but much nicer and all made from fresh local ingredients. Prices were excellent. We chose an entry to share and a combination of two dishes with rice for our main course. All were very tasty. A lime cheesecake was shared for dessert.
This is a BYO alcohol place and as we did not know this we enjoyed icy cold soft drinks.
Entertainment by a guitarist was there on this night.

Absolutely outstanding!
A must visit. We arrived at 9.15am to be greeted by Leeza with an orphaned young kangaroo. We were booked in for the Private Owl Experience ($200 for 2 people for 1 hour). This included 5 owls and a tawny frog-mouth. Leeza apologised that one of the owls could not be available, BUT would be replaced by their wedge-tailed eagle. We were not disappointed. The next 60 minutes was amazing and the birds are just glorious. We were able to wear leather gloves and have the birds on our arms. Casper the amazing barn owl potted around on our laps and was happy to be patted.
Having Nelly the eagle on my arm is something that I will always remember - she was remarkable.
We also had the Ultimate Experience ($38 each for about 3 hours) which included Venom Pit, In-Flight and Fang-tastic. All the presenters were fantastic, friendly and knowledgeable. I held three lizards and three snakes.
A wonderful place not to be missed.

We are so grateful to Jenny from Clifford's Honey Farm for recommending this place for our lunch. What a hidden gem of a place. So much atmosphere and old wares which kept our eyes busy. There is only a limited menu which includes home-made pizza which we ordered. Everyone else seemed to be enjoying theirs and we were not disappointed - it was absolutely amazing. The service was warm, friendly and efficient. In hindsight I wish that we had returned for another meal (probably another pizza) but with the cheesecake dessert as well. Wonderful little place that we thoroughly recommend.
Apart from the great cafe there is also a plant nursery.

What a find! We spent over 3 hours pottering around this 160 year old cottage and talking with the curator, who was a lovely chap with a wealth of knowledge and passion about the history. The cottage is fascinating with an enormous amount of displays. I thoroughly enjoyed looking at a Women's Weekly magazine from the 1930s (hands-on was great). Apart from the cottage and household items there is a large display of farm implements, old transport equipment (including a horse side-saddle) and the original Cape Willoughby lighthouse. The gardens have been kept in original condition and are well maintained. Entry was $6 adults or $5 seniors and was worth every cent.
Check opening times - usually 1 to 4 daily but they change with the seasons

We were so glad to find this family oriented hotel with decent pub meals, with warm and friendly service. We stayed in Kingscote 6 nights and ate here 3 times. The food was excellent, in fact a little better than the average pub food. On second night here the waitress welcomed us again, and even remembered what tourist attraction we had seen that day, and asked about it. Orders were taken promptly, food arrived at our table in an excellent amount of time and it was delicious. Price for steak was $19.50, with gravy included, and it was truly good. It is noted as 'the locals choice' and that was obvious. Tuesday is schnitzel night and bookings are needed. Sincerely recommend this hotel for its meal.
