Quite a good range of well-grown, different plants compared to some larger chain stores. Prices are what you would expect to pay but they also offer smaller pot sizes for some things and that is not alway the case in nurseries now. There is a genuine attempt to give ideas on the appropriate plants to use and staff generally are well-informed. I like the often wacky garden art but fortunately not enough to cough up the amount asked. They also sell water tanks and we had no problem getting what we wanted delivered at a convenient time (although that is all arranged through a third party). Great range of pots and there are always some good quality ones on sale usually because they are the end of a stock range. A pleasant place to wander through even if you don't buy anything and the absence of a cafe is quite a relief really!

A refreshing change from supermarket fruit and vegies. The owners love their business and it shows. Lots of seasonal things with suggested recipes or uses on a blackboard. Plenty of extra adive if you want to ask too. The different varieties of fruit such as apples are identified and with the potatoes, they list what each variety is best-suited to. If produce is imported, it is signed as such. Another thing I like is that they have a freezer with berries and a fridge with yummy Evia yoghurt, plus tinned tomatoes and sauces, eggs, loose nuts, licorice allsorts, apricot square etc. and a good range of cut flowers. So, it like a onestop shop but small!

This is a relic from the horse and cart era and I love seeing an old-style produce store in the middle of the city. They have managed to stay in business by updating the range they carry as the farm animal population has declined (not that I remember that....) and stocking plenty of small animal needs like dog and cat food, beds and chook food as well as still having hay and straw available. Being on a corner means that there is usually a place to pull off the road right outside although avoiding peak hour is a good idea. Prices at this produce store are high. (OK, they are in the city ) So, while I really like the fact that the business is there, I'd look elsewhere first.

Visited once for a Sunday morning breakfast. No tables left at 9.30am but they quickly moved us on to one as soon as one became available and staff kept us entertained and plied with water as we waited. There was the usual range of breakfast delights ranging from fresh fruit salad and yoghurt, muffins (always a favourite with me) and cooked breakfasts. By 10am things were really hotting up and some brave souls were seated on the outside decking overlooking the lake but they seemed quite happy out there and were not forgotten. Service was a little on the slow side but no worse than any busy cafe on a Sunday morning. My extra yoghurt didn't materialise and one of our party was not able to change one of the menu combinations but the convivial atmosphere meant that we were in a forgiving mood. And when I questioned the bill (I knew we hadn't had 12 coffees and a couple of babycinos) they knocked a few $$ off the bill. We had a great morning.

The description of Sri Lankan influences combined with the chef's creativity is good. The dishes range from fairly standard but really nice beef and lamb curries to grilled fish, stuffed baby chicken and lamb shanks with dates. All of the dishes taste very different from each other and the vegies (bought as separate dishes) are really interesting combinations such as baby carrot & zucchini in white curry, double-cooked eggplant.

After trying a couple of different plumbers we found Bernie Phyland just around the corner. He has installed a rainwater tank, changed taps and fixed leaks for us in the past couple of years and we haven't had any problems. He has put in a couple of low-cost solutions so we had time to procrastinate before deciding on what we really wanted. He has responded to messages left on his phone and usually been able to fit us in reasonably promptly

The cafe has a range of seating from long tables with bench seats, small, two and four person tables and plenty of outdoor seating under umbrellas. The menu is small and doesn't vary much but there is enough variety for repeat visits. A few different salads, sandwiches, biscuits and hot things too. Looks like there are regulars for breakfast (museli, fresh fruit salad & yoghurt, toast, cooked breakfast) but day time trade is more touristy.

This is usually a coffee and muffin stop so I can't comment on the meals although the breakfasts look good. Not too busy like some other places closer to St Kilda and staff are good.

A vibrant, busy, cramped bakery cafe with indoor and outdoor tables filling the space. Great breads and pastries to take home or eat there, coffee and papers to read (if you are quick!) or buy. Service is best early in the morning before the hordes arrive but it is always worth a visit, even if the favourites have sold out. They make really nice sourdough, feta & spinach bread, pumpkin & onion, and delicious white stuff too.

Have called in here for a number of years on a regular basis for a coffee and muffin when out cycling. However, the prices have skyrocketed since the deck was expanded. When I realised that they were charging $6 for a muffin, I blackbanned the food and just stick to a coffee
