Why do used car salesmen have such a bad reputation? Probably because of a few 'bad apples'.
But there are no bad apples at Stubberfield Motors!
I recently purchased a beautiful Mercedes C250 CGI from them and only have praise for the way they looked after me.
You only have to look over the stock to realise that Stubberfield is very choosy about the cars it sells. You won't find any cheapies here; only quality used cars, immaculately prepared.
The fact that the business was nominated for the Rotary Club of Capalaba's annual Vocational Service Awards, both for Sales and Customer Service (Gary Doyle - salesman), and for Best Business Practices (Matt Stubberfield - owner), is testament to the quality of this business.
Personally I wouldn't shop anywhere else for a used car. Thoroughly recommended!

Dine-in may be ok as the food is quite good - maybe not the best Chinese around though. But my issue is with the dreadful takeaway service. I waited 70 minutes for a meal for three! Was told 45. This is ridiculous! Other customers I spoke to while waiting were similarly frustrated, saying this would be the last time they bought takeaway from here. They really need to lift their game - or get out of the takeaway business altogether.

My daughter found this place quite by accident. She wanted a cafe with great ambience and bay views to enjoy a quiet 70th birthday brunch. This cafe ticks all the boxes!
They don't advertise widely, because they don't have to. Word of mouth is the best recommendation.
They are open daily for breakfast and lunch - 7am - 2pm.
The food is really good and tastefully presented. Three of us had the Eggs Benedict - 2 with smoked salmon and I had bacon (which was cooked to perfection).
The mixed berries smoothie was awesome and you can mix your own vege juices to your liking. There is something on the menu for everyone. My daughter is a fussy vegetarian and she was delighted with the choices.
They also have an upstairs function room with equally great views over the boat ramp, Coastguard Base and across the bay to the islands. It's a very special place indeed.
We'll certainly be going back there again, this time for lunch I think. Thoroughly recommended (but don't tell everyone!).

This review is for Sizzler, Cleveland QLD

I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about with Sizzler! My (adult) daughter asked if we could go to the Cleveland Sizzler for a treat and I somewhat reluctantly agreed, having never really liked this restaurant (or the concept) in the past.
How some reviewers can say it is reasonably priced amazes me. The cheapest grill is the 200g rump steak at $29 and the average is probably about $36. Sure, this includes the salad bar ($24.95) but it's a mistake to think 'I'm getting the steak for $4.05' since you obviously eat far less from the salad bar if you're having a steak.
The choices at the salad bar are certainly impressive, but unless you absolutely 'pig out' I honestly don't think you get value for money.
I better mention the food, since that's why we were there in the first place!
While we waited for the mains I had the pumpkin soup with some potato skins on the side. Quite nice really. My daughter 'pigged out' on the salad bar.
Two of us ordered the 200g rump and my daughter went for the steak and 'dusted' prawns (what on earth is 'dusted'?).
The steaks were ordered very rare (1) and medium rare (2) but they were all very rare and not exactly very tender either.
The Malibu chicken supreme was reported as being 'ok' - hardly a compliment. It did look rather dry.
The bread and butter pudding was quite nice, if a little dry (it had been out for a fair while) and the pina colada panna cotta (in a shot glass) was rather nice. My daughter had three! (but they're obviously quite small).
The service (not that there is much) was average - reasonably friendly but not terribly welcoming. The atmosphere - well, you don't go to Sizzler for the atmosphere! It's a bit of a barn!
In summary I decided that I would much rather have spent the $125 (after senior's discount) at our favourite local Thai restaurant where the service is excellent, the food amazing, it's byo (so you don't have to pay the ridiculous wine prices at Sizzler), the atmosphere is very pleasant, and you don't have to go for a hike to get your own food.
Sorry Sizzler - I won't be a regular customer, if I go there at all in future. But I doubt you'll miss me :-) !

I booked for a pre-Christmas family lunch here because I have dined here before. I also held my 60th Birthday function (45+ guests) here a few years ago and it was fabulous.
I booked online this time (through Dimmi) requesting one of the private rooms and was thrilled when we arrived to be ushered into the 'Judges' Chambers'. It's a perfect room for a group of up to 6 and the atmosphere is wonderful.
I could go into more detail, but to sum it up the food is absolutely the tops, with generous servings, beautifully presented, and the service is excellent. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but if you want that special dining experience, this is definitely the place.

This review is for Graeme's Point Takeaway (Fish & Chips), Wellington Point QLD

verified email - 10 Jan 2014

I have tried most of the F&C shops in the Wellington Point / Birkdale area but I really think Graeme and his staff does just about the best Fish & Chips (seafood baskets etc) in the area. I can't stand greasy seafood.
Tonight we had the seafood basket for 2 ($26) and the chips could have been oven fried. They were beautifully cooked, dry and crispy and the fish, calamari, prawn and bite were just as good. When they are busy (which is often) you can wait a little while, but every order is individually cooked from scratch, so it's worth the wait.
It's only about 3 minutes (50k/h limit) to Wellington Point Park so you could grab a table and enjoy your meal and the fabulous views across the Bay to Straddie. I recommend it!

Approximate cost: $26 (for 2)

I stood at the counter for at least three minutes, perhaps even four (it seemed like ages). Several customers collected their orders while I waited, but there was no recognition that I was there. I could have been the invisible man!
Eventually one of the girls asked me if I was collecting an order. I explained that, no, I was waiting to order. The other girl said 'O that's me', as if I was supposed to know I was standing in front of the 'wrong' employee.
I placed my order, waited (not too long) and took the meals home.
The disappointment I experienced in the shop was matched by the quality of the meals (mini cod and chips - no vinegar). Perhaps the English like greasy batter and chips that are (mostly) more like offcuts, ends or reject bits, but I have to say (sadly) that I wasn't at all impressed, and neither was my wife (who is part English).
Sorry Chumley Warner's. You have lost me as a customer.

This review is for Rocket Removals Redlands, Thornlands QLD

I rang early in the morning for an important but small removal job which 'should take no more than an hour' and needed to be done that day. The distance for relocation was probably about 6-8km. I left a message and received a return call soon after, but not to the number I left in the message.
No problems, we can do the job for you this afternoon. We have a storage job this morning. The time agreed was 3.30pm. Timing was important to me and this suited well.
I called them at about 3.20pm to say I was on the way to meet them and was told that the storage job had taken longer than expected, but they would be 'on their way soon'. They blamed the previous customer for misrepresenting the size of the storage unit, so the job took much longer than allowed. This was quite possibly true.
I waited and waited at the pickup point, making several phone calls to see how the team was going. They were just dropping a guy at the depot (a few km away) and would then be on their way.
They eventually arrived 68 minutes late and I indicated clearly that I was not happy. The response was 'these things happen'.
Maybe so, but I didn't consider this a satisfactory answer as the delay meant that about 600 people were kept waiting for an event to start. The materials were a critical part of the setup for the event so the delay was very inconvenient for many people, especially the frustrated volunteer organisers, myself included, and the performers, plus the only paid professional.
I'm afraid their motto, 'Happiness is an attitude - gained by daily practice' did not make me feel any better, and certainly not happy. I don't think I could recommend Rocket Removals and I won't be using them again.
Perhaps you might be luckier?

This review is for Cleveland Service Centre, Cleveland QLD

verified email - 12 Jul 2013

My daughter chose Cleveland Service Centre to fix a problem with the driver's window of her Nissan Tiida because she read excellent reviews on this business elsewhere. I was surprised to find that they were not already listed on WOMO, hence this entry.
The window problem could have been a number of things, from fairly simple switching issues to a faulty motor. I'm sure some unscrupulous workshops would have gone for the expensive end of the scale, but CSC located a switch panel from a wrecker in good condition and fitted it within a few hours. Problem solved!
Not only was the service first class but they only charged the cost of the part plus about $10 labour.
Personally I find it very refreshing to deal with a business which is more concerned with providing good service at a very fair price than making big profits at the expense of an unsuspecting customer.
If you value honesty then this small family-owned business deserves your support. I'll certainly be going to them if I have mechanical problems.

This review is for Euro-Aus Auto, Capalaba QLD

verified email - 04 Apr 2013

Having just acquired a lovely 2008 Mercedes Benz CLC 200, which was telling me that an 'A' Service was coming up in x days (clever little car!), I started searching for a specialist Merc workshop, thinking I'd have to travel some distance. I had been warned (by the original owner) that Mercedes dealers tended to charge like the proverbial 'wounded bull', so I was after a qualified independent workshop.
I came upon the Euro-Aus website and was quite impressed. So I gave them a call and was quickly convinced that these guys knew their stuff. The 'A' service (a minor service) would cost between $300 and $320, which I thought was really good as I'd expected around the $450 mark or more.
To cut a long story short the service cost under $280, all included. On leaving the car I was dropped into Capalaba at the bus interchange. On return, I was collected at the bus stop and the car was ready, cleaned inside and out!
I'll definitely be going back when the car tells me it needs the next service. I couldn't recommend this business more highly.
