A busy station, we were towing a caravan and were able to manoeuvre in OK. Fuel price was competitive with larger towns in the region. Had a good range of deli items, such as drinks, confectionery etc. There was a sign near the cash register on counter, 'No Manners, No Service'. Attendant was polite.

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! This would have to be the most unique and amazing 'art gallery' I have ever seen. Situated in a paddock along the side of the road in the very heart of New South Wales are 20 Holden Utes, either standing upright, hanging on posts or partly buried in the ground, adorned with stunning artwork by various artists from NSW and beyond. My wife and I were blown away by how great this display is. To some people, it may seem a long way from anywhere, but it was definitely worth the trip. Absolutely unique, and so authentically Aussie!

Had a good range of brochures for the Griffith area, and surrounding areas, which was handy, as we were also travelling on further. Staff were helpful with local info. A display area also had a DVD running, which explained local attractions quite well. Gave us an initial impression of the area and whats available. Great photo opportunity out the front, with the RAAF fighter plane mounted atop a pole.

An older store, but neat and clean, with a good range of stock. We called on a Sunday to pick up supplies while travelling. They have handy opening hours, open til 8pm during the week and til 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. Good old-fashioned country service.

A working lavender farm, in a pretty setting. The cafe and gift shop is by the road, at the front of the lavender paddocks. There is a display of about 7 or 8 old tractors outside to amuse the blokes. We had morning tea, with lavender scones, jam and whipped cream, freshly done while we waited, and a piece of homemade teacake, all served by the owner Jan Hill. Yum!! Very friendly country hospitality. They also had a great range of locally made handicrafts, including hand painted ceramics, a lot of course featuring lavender. Plus bunches of lavender, pot pourrie etc. They are open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This is a working farm. At 1.30pm each day, you can do a tour of the farm on a bus. The day we visited, there was only the 2 of us, so we didnt go out on the bus, but we were only charged half price, and still shown around the sheds, tasted different fruits and homemade jams, mustards and wine (made at the farm) and watched the dvd that they have put together on the processes of fruit growing and production, plus the history of the farm. It was very interesting and informative. We were also shown through the old homestead and purchased some of the wares. Got to taste fejoas, pecans, mandarins and prunes produced here. I think they also have a bed and breakfast.

This tourist attraction was well worth seeing. We learnt a lot about the sheep industry and shearing in Australia, both now and in the past. The main building is quite impressive, inside is a cafe (we didnt use), gift shop and interpretive display centre, including the Australian Shearers Hall Of Fame. Displays (some hands-on), videos photos etc. were very well put together, informative and entertaining. Outside is a sheep yards maze (good fun), a real woolshed and other interesting displays. At 1pm each day there is a sheep-shearing demonstration in the woolshed, by a local ex-shearer. He was very informative as well. We spent several hours here.

This is a beautiful caravan park, with views toward the lake. It is only about 2 streets away from the main street as well. The young lady manager was very friendly. You pick your own caravan site, so parking was a bit higglety pigglety, but it really wasnt a problem, because there is plenty of room. The park is very large, heaps of it is lawned, and nice big shade trees as well. The amenities blocks (2) were very modern (recently refurbished, I think), clean and plenty of hot water. A huge camp kitchen and outdoor fire area. And the price, fantastic value. $20 a night for 2 people, and stay 3 nights and the 4th is free. We will definitely return to this park in the future.

We had electrical trouble with our car while travelling, so called in here to see if we could get the problem looked at. I spoke to the lady in the office, who said she would go out and speak to a mechanic. We were expecting to wait, but the mechanic came out immediately and went out to the roadside to check our vehicle. Within about 10 minutes, he had the problem fixed (some loose wires and cable dragging along the roadway hadnt helped). He was very polite and friendly, and we were amazed to be back on the road so quickly and cheaply. They are also the local Toyota dealers, and had about 5 new vehicles in their small showroom and front yard, mainly Hilux utes etc. This was another example that good old-fashioned country service is still available.

We called at this store while on a caravan holiday. Our TV would not work in Hay, so we went in to buy a set-top box or possibly a new TV. The owner offered to check it for us, found it was OK, but said reception across the river in the area we were staying was sometimes hard to get, so he tuned it in for us, so that it would work for us. We were very appreciative for his help and honesty, as he could have just made a sale to us, but instead took the time (at least 20 minutes) to help us, and wanted nothing for it. He was also very helpful re. eating places, etc. in the town. Even though we did not buy, I looked around the store, and there was a good selection of electrical products, at least several brands of each type of appliance, and the pricing appeared to be very competitive to city stores. It often seems that these smaller country stores, with lower overheads, can actually compete very favourably with larger stores, and with added bonus of excellent, personalized service. We were impressed with this business.
