Only been here once, but it was great and I want to go back! It's an all you can eat buffet, with some made fresh to order stations. There's a guy cutting roast meat for you, someone making pasta to order (you stand there and tell them which pasta and what sauce, incl what you don't want in it, e.g. wine) and my favourite - naan bread! You collect the ingredients for your naan bread, and they cook your custom bread inside this fire pit. Delicious!

My second favourite was the dessert bar! A big choc fountain, lots of things to dip in it and various small servings of desserts.

I didn't pay, but I know it wasn't cheap. Beats your regular buffets though with the made to order foods!

My boyfriend ended up bringing me here for the buffet dinner as a surprise for my birthday. What can I say? It was absolutely divine- they have different sections for seafood, Indian, Asian, roast and dessert buffet. Everything was of the fresh and of the finest quality, the ambiance and view of the Yarra at night were spectacular and the staff went above and beyond with their service. I kept going back to the seafood and dessert sections! We both left feeling very full and very satisfied. It's a bit of an indulgence but a good place to splurge on for special occasions.

I think I broke my own record for the amount of oysters I could put away in one sitting. I was brought here for my birthday as a surprise and didn't know how much cost but did the sneaky afterwards and was surprised that it was around $75. I expected it to be more! You have everything you want here to eat like a King or Queen! Endless sashimi, endless prawns, endless oysters, endless chocolate fondue and strawberries! Endless everything ! Sorry. I can only talk about the seafood, Japanese and desserts as I didn't leave room for anything else. Try to get a window seat because the view of Melbourne CBD is breathtaking and enjoy even the foyer into this amazing 5 star hotel... Who knows which celebrity you might brush shoulders with on your way to this well priced, but very refined, buffet! The website has some special offers and prices go up to $90 to $100 as of November 2012 so get in before then!

Approximate cost: $75 until November

I decided to try Melba - Buffet lunch. I brought my parents to have lunch with me. they really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant and of course the food. they have variety of food - seafood, salad, make to order (stir fry noodle, pasta), antipastos, breads (naan), desserts..Wonderful service - once i finished my food - i leave my dirty plate ,then i go grab a new plate.. by the time i get back to my table my dirty plate is gone. pretty fast! they check on your drinks and top up your water frequently. Highly recommended!

They have a great range of food here! The buffet is one of the best, they have a fresh sashimi/sushi bar, fresh seafood, cooked foods, asian food, freshly cooked naan bread and tandoori chicken, as well as fresh cooked pasta and noodles created by you. A great selection of deserts, cheese, breads and salads. Good table service - sometimes a little slow to clean up plates if it's busy but usually quite efficient. They restock their food often as well which means you very rarely miss out!
Have been here several times and will continue to do so

One of the better quality buffets in Melbourne with a huge range of food catering for all people. Located in a very fancy hotel with great views over the yarra towards Flinders street station. It is more expensive than most buffets however I definitely recommend everyone experience the buffet here at least once.

Melbas is located right next to the Yarra in ultra trendy Southbank. It's a fantastic location as you look out over the river during dinner. This is a very high class buffet- you can order your own sushi to be rolled in front of you, select ingredients and sauces for your own stir fry and your own roti creation (the m&m roti was fantastic). A little pricey but the food was suberb and is a great place to take visitors to Melbourne.

Approximate cost: $70 (buffet)
