I am $345 poorer with nothing resolved in the issue. Don't be fooled by the website's "Free Quote" and their prompt arrival to quote. Before we knew it the guy, even without diagnosis or listening to the client, has charged us $165 (which comes off further work if required) Then he quotes a "couple of hundred" which eventually (through insistence for a more specific number) becomes $380...which is over the amount i was quoted by another plumber over the phone for the same work. But by now, he has fiddled around for 5 minutes (doing the stuff I told him I had already done and had no luck in resolving issue) and I'm already down $165 so go ahead with the $380 less 10% - which is still more than my phone quote. To book the job in I have to pay a deposit of $100 and sign the quote. The guy then writes that what is being done is not guaranteed to fix the problem AFTER I have signed the document. And later I note that i am actually paying for the "hire" of equipment...NOT the fixing of the job.
Then I wait the day for someone to come by and complete the job.....
It is now Day 2 of waiting (expecting someone to arrive at 7-11am). I ring at 11.15/ 2.40/ 4 o'clock with constant assurance that I'm next in line as just leaving a nearby suburb/ that there has been a mix up with scheduling / That I should have gone ahead with my day and they'd call me. I give the ultimatum that I want my deposit back if I do not hear from the plumber in 10 minutes. I get the call 15 minutes later with the plumber on the other side of the city and with the peak hour traffic to contend with. It is nearly 5pm and he gets here at 5.50pm. This plumber gives a much better explanation as to what the issue probably is - which is what I would have expected from the initial consultation. He uses the machine to no avail and the condition of the drain is no better than when i called last week. Extremely unimpressed. (but the $350 may come off my next bill to resolve the issue ...adn yet still NO QUOTE on fixing the [redacted offensive language] problem!@#@!!! as they hook you in with the reduction when they should give the full list of options before even starting) My next phone call is to them followed by the Commerce Department to see whether their Free Quote (when it isn't) is legal. I only wish I found Word of Mouth site prior to ringing them in the first place.

Approximate cost: $380

In the past we have had great experience with Pascoe's but after yesterday and today we will won't be using them again.

Our water heater went yesterday afternoon, and we got a quote from Pascoe's at the end of the day which we paid a deposit on. That evening we realised that the quoted amount was *double* a previous quote from them for the exact same job, which we'd investigated knowing that our water heater was old and might soon need replacing.

After calling around a few other plumbers, we got quotes that matched Pascoe's original lower quote. We called first thing this morning (7:00am) to cancel the Pascoe's job, hoping to get our $712 deposit back as a goodwill gesture as we have been repeat customers and so far nothing had been done.

The person we spoke to claimed that the parts etc had already been purchased from the supplier, and so they were out of pocket. However we confirmed for ourselves, by calling Pascoes supplier Galvin, that the order for our water heater and associated parts had already been cancelled by Pascoe's, and that Pascoe's had *not* been charged for anything.

Pascoe's then tried to match their price such that if we went with them it would be no worse than us losing our deposit and going with someone else, but at that point we'd rather give our money to a local plumber than give Pascoe's the job so that they could get the rest of our money.

A satisfactory outcome for us would have been for Pascoe's to honour their original quote (which was still more expensive than what other plumbers were quoting, but in the past we have appreciated a small premium in price for the quality and reliability of Pascoe's service), or a refund of our original deposit, given that the whole incident from quote to canellation was well under 24 hours.

I understand the non-refundable deposit thing, but in this case it feels like Pascoes tried to rip us off on the quote (doubling their own original quote), then lied to us about our deposit already being spent on parts when it hadn't been, and then just stood there saying "Well, we've got your money now, and you can't do anything about it.".

They are following the letter of the law, but not the spirit - giving us back our money would not make them any worse off (as they have not actually purchased or been charged for anything related to our job, nor sent anyone out to our house), which is what a deposit is supposed to protect them against.

...and, in the meantime, while we were trying to sort all of this out, another plumber had already completed the job, and (even taking losing the deposit into account) we've saved about $1,200 on Pascoe's original undiscounted quote.

It is unlikely in the extreme that we will be using or recommending Pascoe's in future.

We used Pacoe's Plumbing and Gas to buy and install a new tap in bathroom sink. We are very happy with the timely intervention and with the price quoted as well as the quality of work

Outrageous prices, untidy workmanship that didn't meet current Australian Standards, and fairly disinterested and disorganised management (Willetton Branch). Regretfully, I didn't read any reviews before using this company to replace my hot water system, a very costly mistake in both money and time. I had to get plumbing and gas inspectors involved, and the ACCC, in order to achieve an acceptable outcome (a safely installed hot water unit and itemised receipt). I’ve since heard the company is well known in the industry – for all the wrong reasons. Consider yourself warned.

We needed someone to install our washing machine and fridge water tap. They were very fast, professional and reasonably priced. Will use them again and recommend them!

seems to me the only positive reviews for this dodgy business are the same...no details and no job costing...suspicious as the most common complaint is severe overpricing

Called out electrician to check ceiling fan. No work done less than 20 mins and charged $200. When I rang to question the high cost, he was extremely rude and said "it's tough but we can charge what we want". Would never use again and will be telling everyone never to use this company. The company has no integrity!!!!!!

Approximate cost: $200

Very poor service and rude plumber. i found them in the little Aussie directory and I would never use anyone from that again after this experience. Asked to call my tenants prior to visiting. He called and said he would be there in 15 mins at 07.30. He then called me and said he needed 320 dollars to fix the 2 leaking toilets and would come to my home to get me to sign straight away instead of sending invoice. Anyway within 5 days have had to be called back twice already.
Very expensive. I could have bought 2 new toilets at bunnings for 600 and got my husband to fit them.

Approximate cost: $320

Washes replaced in both ensuite taps to stop hammering and spurting of water, and a new cistern installed. Small damage to taps and laminate top. Job not done properly resulting in water damage into cupboard and tap still not fixed. Came out again and while fixing tap damaged a floor tile while tapping a tool on it.

Approximate cost: $363.60

I rang Pascoes Saturday morning after finding out from a cold shower i was no longer getting hot water. My gas tank was 12 years old and to surprise was ok. There was another part at fault but given the age of the tank i was advised to replace it which is what my original intention was. They came and installed the new hot water tank which took them less then an hour and was gobsmacked on the speed of work paired with the quality.
Lovely ladies on the phone when booking and the worker who fitted was just as good. Will recommend and use for any future problems !
