My second experience with this company is disappointing me, I had problems last year and was told the reason was them getting used to a new computer system, and was compensated handsomely hence I didn't give bad feedback, but I now think that it is how they usually are??

We needed a relatively expensive tap that they had but were in the middle of getting the kitchen done so we called them to ask about availability and turnaround before ordering. They confirmed after a long wait that it was in stock and if we ordered it would be sent out the next day, so we ordered..

A full two weeks later nothing, we call them and ask what is happening, told "ohh umm that order is scheduled to go out today", that was last week it is now Thursday the following week and still no tap????

They just seem so disorganised to me, it is fantastic that if you push them, at least in my last case, they compensated us but how do you successfully run a business like this?

Approximate cost: $600

Hi Joel77, Thanks for the well written and detailed information regarding this business, which will be forwarded to family/friends in the area. Word of Mouth is unequivocally the best form of advertising. It is most unfortunate that the business in question has chosen not to rectify the problems that their long suffering customers (victims?) have been faced with. This shows a poorly run and ineffectual business, one that is clearly best avoided. Thank you again for putting your experience into words. Regards, Reeces

Hi Joel77, Thanks for the detail, which is always appreciated. We are however seeking an update regarding whether or not you were able to secure the item in question and if so, the length of time it took to obtain. Sounds like this business suffers from a chronic dose of inefficiency and irresponsibility (as evidenced by the array of excuses told to various customers), which will continue to cost them until the matter is adequately resolved. Thanks for sharing your experience. Reeces

Yes I did eventually receive the item... I think he 'reminder call', reminded them to actually ship it to us LOL

still waiting ordered a shower screen over two months ago,They said it would be a week. Get a phone call to be told it will be another two weeks before I receive it so ask to speak to a manager as I want a refund "he will have to ring you back" make a follow up call to find out why the manager hasn't called back "he rings people after 5:30". That ain't good enough. "he will call you in a couple of hours". fours hours later still waiting.

Approximate cost: $1000

Wow, that's shocking service! Thanks for the heads up!

Hi Chrism87m, perhaps if you started charging these jokers for your time and telephone calls they might actually do their respective job. Very disappointing indeed. Please keep us updated. Reeces

I finally received my shower screen. Renovation boys kept telling me it was coming from there supplier, it came from Renovation D (Receipt was left in box). Still chasing a floor waste. I would advice any to stay well clear of this incompetent company.

As you will see from all of the reviews, Renovation Boys falls into either the "Excellent" or "Terrible" category - with not much in between. If you use Renovation Boys you will have to hope they fall into the "Excellent" category.
Here's a little of my story (a long one and still continuing!). We purchased all of our bathroom products through Renovation Boys. We were told they would be available in 3 weeks. That was ok, as we needed them in 5 weeks, so we had thought that was plenty of time. We were wrong!
Things were going smoothly for the first couple of weeks. We received a phone call to let us know that everything was "on track". The following week I called to arrange for delivery of the items we had not picked up ourselves in the meantime (8 items were outstanding) and was told they had not received the vanity. I asked if I could lock in a delivery time for later that week anyway and they said they don't arrange delivery until all the items have arrived. I asked if they could find out when their supplier would deliver the vanity to them. They said they would call me back that day - they didn't. I called the next day with the same result. The following day I decided to go to their warehouse to try and collect the outstanding items, including the vanity (we termed this "pick up by stealth"). After a one hour wait at the warehouse I was told they received the vanity the previous week, but have "lost" it and would need to reorder it. I told them it needed to be reordered that day as I had my renovators waiting for it.
I called them that afternoon to ask if the vanity had been reordered and they said they needed management approval before they could reorder. After a couple of days, and calling 2 times a day, I was told the vanity will be reordered that day.
Later that afternoon I received a call from one of the sales people stating the supplier had a question about the vanity - "Which vanity did I order as the supplier doesn't make the vanity you want in the size you have ordered". WTF, if the vanity had been ordered, made and delivered to Renovation Boys the week before, how could the supplier have such a fundamental question? My only conclusion is the vanity was never ordered in the first place!
I expressed my concern about how long it was taking to receive the vanity and asked when the "replacement" vanity would be available. I was told it has been placed on an express order and would be available the following week.
In the meantime my partner and turned up for our second "pick up by stealth" to see if we could collect any other items. We managed to get a few, however, I was told the toilet was out of stock and they will be receiving more stock the following week. That Saturday my partner and I were in the vicinity of the warehouse and decided to attempt another "pick up by stealth". We managed to get the toilet (the one that was out of stock a couple of days before and wouldn't be in stock until the following week - go figure!).
A week and half after the "replacement" vanity was reordered I had not heard from Renovation Boys and decided to see where the vanity was. I was told it would not be available until the following week (I'm not sure how that was an express order given it was going take 3 weeks - the same time as the "original" order). The lady I spoke to was quite nice and appreciated the amount of time I had spent on the phone and the time I had waited for the vanity. She said "Instead of continuously waiting on the phone, I'll give you my work email address and you can email me next Tuesday and I will confirm the time for delivery of the vanity". Very nice I thought.
The following Tuesday morning around 9am I emailed requesting an update on the status of the vanity. By 4pm I had received no response and decided to call. I was put through to somebody else and they said - "she no longer works here". No wonder she was willing to give me her email address!!
Despite this, I managed to get a time they would be receiving the vanity. I turned up to the warehouse the morning after the vanity was expected at Renovation Boys and it was wheeled out! I couldn't believe it, it was finally in my hands!! I do have to admit, we love the vanity and it is exactly what we wanted, it is just a shame the process of getting it was so stressful.
After getting the vanity home we were happy to never have to deal with Renovation Boys again.
Unfortunately, we were wrong again. When we unpacked the mirror we noticed that it wasn't the mirror we ordered; however, we decided not to return it so as to avoid having to, most likely, wait another 3 weeks while they waited for the correct one to be in stock, so we had it installed.
About one week after the mirror was installed we noticed what appears to be the wall sealant appearing between the reflective surface and the glass in a number of locations across the mirror. I called Renovation Boys and they asked me to email a description of the problem with some photos and they will submit a claim to their supplier. I did as requested and after not hearing anything following one week I called. I was told the claim had not been submitted as it was "too hard". The guy I spoke to said he would submit a claim that day and I would hear from the supplier shortly afterwards.
He did submit the claim and I received a call from their supplier; however, after a week of communication with the supplier, the supplier advised me that the mirror is not one of theirs (another WTF moment - how can Renovation Boys get is so wrong? - all the time!!). Another 3 weeks passed and I didn't hear anything from Renovation Boys and I emailed requesting a refund in 14 days or I would lodge a complaint with Fair Trading. After 10 days I did not hear anything and emailed again asking about the status of the refund. That day I received a reply apologising for the delay and stating that the refund would be processed the following day. Needless to say, the refund was not forthcoming and I have lodged my complaint to Fair Trading.
The process in dealing with Renovation Boys reminds me of the Seinfeld car reservation episode:
Jerry: I don't understand. Do you have my reservation?
Rental Car Agent: We have your reservation, we just ran out of cars.
Jerry: But the reservation keeps the car here. That's why you have the reservation.
Rental Car Agent: I think I know why we have reservations.
Jerry: I don't think you do. You see, you know how to *take* the reservation, you just don't know how to *hold* the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. Anybody can just take them.
Renovation Boys know how to take your money but consistently fail to deliver!!

Approximate cost: $3500

With all the frustrations and failing to deliver what it promised - and they still took your money, I would be a very unhappy customer!

Hi Wistow, What a saga! Utter dishonesty and sheer unadulterated incompetence. Thank you for taking the time to detail your complaint in such a well written manner. This is appreciated! It still bewilders us as to why/how there are so many business that arrogantly ignore (at their own peril) social media and rating websites, like WOMO. Do they not comprehend that dissatisfied customers take many potential customers with them? Ignorance is only bliss for a short time…before reality sinks in! Unhappy customers eventually equal loss of earnings, which will eventually result in business closure. Possibly a blessing this instance. Reeces

By way of update, after involving Fair Trading we have received our refund.
On Renovation Boys website they state "NO REFUNDS. Sorry, No exceptions". This is a blatant breach of the Australian Consumer Law!
I would urge everyone that is not satisfied with the service or products they receive to lodge complaints with Fair Trading (which is a free service). It seems to be the only way Renovation Boys will comply with their legal obligations (I guess they hope their customers will not go to the hassle of chasing them).

I wanted to buy a narrow vanity unit for my bathroom, but was unable to find the one that I really liked. I finally found what I was looking for at Renovation Boys and bought the Celine Narrow Vanity Hidden Handles On Kickboard at much cheaper price than anywhere else.

I am somewhat torn on this one, I had a number of issues at the start i.e. the staff communication was rather poor (as mentioned by other people who reviewed this company), but then I complained and the manager took over and he was very generous and it ended very well..

The vanity we bought was a timberline one (australian made) and the quality was fine, I certainly can't complain about that..

Approximate cost: $1800

Their products are cheap - so we should not have expected top quality. The disappointing thing was their service levels. Items were delivered damaged, the wrong description or not at all. Ey seem to be too busy to deal with everyone thoroughly - they want you in and out quickly.

Hi Bernza, Yet another unsatisfactory rating for this business! It’s a wonder they still retain a ‘three’ out of ‘five’ star rating given all the negative reviews. Thanks for letting the WOMO community know of your experience. Reeces

Well it's the morning of installation and no vanity or sink. The prices were right, they were eager to get my money and now that they have it they think their job is done. First I was told it would take a week for the vanity to be delivered but once payment was made we were told 5-10 days.
After waiting 2 1/2 weeks and having no call I rang the company to find out where my goods were and they told me they were in stock and ready to be picked up - noone bothered to contact us to let us know.
2 days after calling we went to collect the goods and while we received the goods that they always have in stock, the vanity which was ordered in was suddenly out of stock again?? How can this be, after all I paid for it so it was ordered for me and what? did they sell it or had it never arrived and I was told a lie on the phone?
We arranged for it to be delivered to our house 2 days later when it was expected to be in stock. After waiting for half the day and having no luck trying to contact them by phone we received a phone call to say delivery would be 4pm. 4pm came and 4pm went and now it is the morning after and we have had no word as to where our vanity is or when it will actually arrive. Of course they don't open until 9am and there will be no point calling them as no one in the warehouse ever answers the phone. Extremely unhappy, angry and disappointed with this mob. I would NEVER recommend them - EVER.

Womo have retracted my review for some unkown reason? But I would like to second this review, communication and general service is terrible in my opinion.. I regret doing business with renovation boys..

Wow... what a horror story, thanks for sharing and warning us though.

Hi MissM30s, thanks for the detail and honest approach. If the other reviews are anything to go by (and we believe they are) then you are not the only one to experience such inefficiency/incompetence at the hands of this business. Hopefully they will peruse these (and other) reviews and work toward an active resolution. Thanks again. Reeces

I have used Renovation boy to renovate some part of my bathroom ( tiling and installing toilet and basin), their cost is much cheaper when compare to other renovation company. Their work is good quality as well.
