They do for some decent food.
We were there for NYE and the place was packed. No booking, but there was a spare table for 4. We were 6, so they really quickly brought out another table to do a makeshift table of 6.
That's good service.
Food was reasonable.

The food here is quite enjoyable for me and my partner. We have been here 3 times (with the most recent experience last Friday night). I agree with some of the comments below in that the price can be abit more pricey compared with other chinese restaurants along gouger street. However, to their credit the serving size matches what you are paying

Going up and down Gouger Street, there are places that can do the same thing at a much better rate. The service was lacking this time around and the quality of the food was a bit dismal. I went up to pay at the end of the meal because they were a bit slow walking around so I couldn't get the bill.
The service was also slow and it took us a while to get some water or any form of drink. We did eat some chilli sauce so was a little uncomfortable for the people I was dining with.
There isn't much room either with the aisles having just enough room for a single person. It's like on an airplane where you need to keep your elbows tucked in so you won't get whacked by the trolley cart.
When you go there next time, watch the people eating there and you'll more than likely spot more than 3 instances where people are chewing with their mouths open.

Great Chinese restaurant with nice decor, well known and recommended by locals for their yum cha. We had a good time dining here, the service was efficient, our waitress was quick to show us to a free table and attentive to our needs. There's a great range of quality food to choose from and very authentic. Parking can be difficult to find though, especially Fridays and weekends. Kid friendly.

With the hundreds of Asian restaurants crammed of Gouger Street, a friend recommended the Star house. The food was very uninspiring, flavourless and the service we received matched this. Definitely will not be going back.

Great restaurant, food is amazing and the price is very very reasonable, great service and the atmosphere is very great and traditional, all I can say is there is nothing to fault about this great restaurant!

I love yum cha and Star House has to be one of the very best restaurants for it!!!!

The dumplings are well made, never soggy, and plentiful.
All the dishes were great, but being dumplings-obsessed, that's the thing I remember the most!

I've returned to Star House a few times and each time, had a great meal. Yum Cha's the best!

The food here is quite good. A popular restaurant, very busy, and the service isn't too bad. If you're a fan of asian food and have a big group of friends then this is the place to go!

Quite often go there for Chinese food. The seafood dish (live seafood) is generally good , but all other dish are pretty ordinary . Good place for yum cha though however it is always busy on lunch time.

I haVe been to this place quite often. Staff are nice. Food is delicious. However, sometimes, we have to wait longer then we expected. Overall, it is fabulous.
