TERRIBLE!!!! I have been with Vodafone for well over 10 years now. While I have normally been happy with the charges on my bill yet not so happy with the coverage or the service received when u call them. I am now very angry with my last bill, not once have my husband or I go over our allowable data for the month, yet we both received extra charges this month of $190 for data...what the???? I am set up for alerts on data usage, funny thing is I received the alerts all in a row after I had supposedly gone WAY over my allowance.....NOT HAPPY.

Hi Samw33, pleased to see another review from a member with an impeccable TrustFactor. Out of curiosity, were you able to resolve this issue or did you just pay for the additional charges. We encourage you (and all other consumers) to monitor bills carefully and not to ever allow inaccurate charges to go unattended. Your complaint relating to alerts appears to be an ongoing one with the majority of telcos, as the internet is plastered with complaint mirroring your own. We would also be interested to note whether or not the inappropriate charges continue or whether this was a one off. Regards, Reeces

I just paid the bills and ported my husbands away, then was hit with cancellation fees I didn't expect as I was told I would just have to payout the handset when I first purchased the handset on a payment plan. Not the whole contract. I only have one service left with them and when it's contract is up it too will be going.

Hi Samw33, I know this is a long shot, but did you happen to record the conversation? (Although one has to abide by the Telecommunications Act, we strongly recommend that all calls to service providers be recorded. We now do this automatically and it has repeatedly proved its worth, saving us hundreds of dollars and proving our statements to be true! After all, these companies have no issue recording your communications.) If not, are you able to refer back to notes (and identify the employee you dealt with) during the sign-up? Feel free to private message us if you would like to communicate in a more private setting. Regards, Reeces

I have been a vodafone customer for four years and I had just recently bought a new mobile phone that happened to be locked. At first I was happy to use my vodafone simcard but after a while I saw a better deal with optus so I wanted to switch. By this time I had spent nearly $400 in credit alone with them however they still wanted to charge me $100 JUST to unlock my phone. Not a good way to be treating longtime customers.

Approximate cost: $500

So true, the vodafone service is terrible.

JM2015 10 Aug 2013

That is disgraceful!

itgirl41 10 Aug 2013

How ridiculous $100 to unlock the phone.

TERRIBLE, I was with vodafone for a year prior to moving to pacific pines and a year while we were here, I had NO service unless i stood on my outdoor table in the backyard. So basically i was paying for a service i couldnt use! I called pretty muchevery week for 2 months, gettting discounts here and there being reassured it would be fixed soon with new towers! After speaking to countless supervisors they finally let me end my contract without having to pay it out. NONE of the operators know what they are talking about, you sit on the phone for up 2-3 hours at a time and none of them speak proper english!

p.s the vodafone reception is still NOT fixed in this area 2 years later!

Approximate cost: $2000

I have been with vodafone for many years now and if I have an issue I no longer bother trying to call them as customer service over the phone is absolute rubbish. Our service is the same (we do live in a rural area) but the phone will only work in one spot in the house and that is breakfast bar. Move slightly and the call is lost.

Hi Raichell, Having to stand on oneâ??s outdoor table in order to access a service is absolutely mad and maddening no doubt! (One wonders whether compensation would be in order if you fell while attempting to access such a useless service?! Irrespective, we would suggest that such poor reception may entitle you to break your contract and seek compensation. Perhaps a complaint to the telecommunications ombudsman is in order? Thank you kindly for the heads-up! Regards, Reeces

I was a vodafone customer for nearly 1.5years before changing to optus, their service is really bad, my phone kept dropping calls, loosing calls, breaking out. Their customer service is not great also, rude customer service people which is not great, they could never figure out my enquiry and my voicemail would always be playing up.

Hence why I left vodafone.

Not great here.

Thanks for another concise review. Reeces

My phone went completely dead while under warranty and under contract. Vodafone happily upgraded me to a better phone but the network coverage is so poor where I live that it was really useless to stay with them. Luckily they had a 30 day network coverage guarantee so I was able to make the new contract null and void inside the first 30 days due to network dissatisfaction. To do this I had to make 3 or 4 visits to a Vodafone store to finally see an end to my contract....including changing the Sim card in case it was faulty and various other troubleshooting techniques. At my wit's end I was finally 'permitted' to exit the contract after 40 mins on the phone with someone in India and had to be very firm to insist on not being charged for exiting a contract for a device that did not ever work for me in the first place. All I can say is....what a rigmarole they put me through for their inefficient network issues.

christopherr5 20 Jan 2013

totally agree about their poor coverage

darrenn2 12 Apr 2013

reception varies greatly and there service appears to only favour the more densly populated areas. contracts are missleading and capped contracts are only talking about your MINIMIUM MONTHLY SPEND, not maximum capped amount. very missleading to use the word CAPPED.

Hi Linda73, rigmarole indeed! It would appear that telcos are experts at giving consumers the run around. We applaud you for standing your ground. Regards, Reeces

I've been with Vodafone for almost a year now and I have to say, the quality is terrible. I've called up customer service probably at least once every 2 months to deal with network and reception issues. Not sure if the call centre is off shore, most probably, and they could do with some improvement. For example, they must be used to getting lots of complaints, they could try to sound a bit more sincere when apologizing as a lot of the time they're just reading a script. I really hope their network improves.

vodaphone had terrible reception and customer service do very little to help

Iloveshopping 17 Apr 2013

so true !!
have heard many complaints with vodafone!

Hi Lucy91, its so frustrating having to deal with off-shore customer service centers, as they are usually pretty hopeless. We also find the script reading intolerable and if you happen to cut them off mid sentence or ask a question that doesnâ??t appear on their record, then you get â??Uhhhhhhhh, Ummmmmmmâ?? response. We have now gotten to the point where we choose NOT to conduct business with any off-shore company. After all, we deserve a higher level of service and they deserve improved wages and not to be taken advantage of. Regards, Reeces

I recently bought a prepaid Simcard and special Pre-paid recharge from Vodafone in Castle Hill. Service was good and got $450 value for $30! It was easy to set the service up and I will continue using them in future.

Approximate cost: $30

For over a year there are moments each moment that I dont get to receive text messages from a specific number particularly my husband. His texts are a week delayed from arriving. I've already complained about his to different stores and talked to different call center agents and they say its part of the system upgrade. Nothing they told me helped.

voda phone used to be good but since they started using their own infustrure their reception has been teribble

I've had some issues with Vodafone and was happy to walk away till one particular person in their customer service went beyond what they needed to in order to retain my business. Their 3G drops out, they have a long way to go in terms of service, however their CUSTOMER service I cannot fault them on and I was actually made to feel like a valued customer after 7 years with them. She alone retained my contracts with them and I have her name written down for anything I need in the future. Since then, I have had very little to complain about other than the odd drop out with the phone service and WIFI. They say the measure of a company is what the do when things go wrong, well, Vodafone came through.
