My son and I dined here for dinner at this hotel, we ordered rump steak, and it was fantastic, the steak was delicious as was the vegies and mash, however, the only minor hiccup for the night was that my son ordered chips and salad with his steak, but only received steak and chips with no salad, despite this, we still enjoyed our meal

Good fun place. parma very tasty and chips placed next to not underneath. yummy and crunchy.

My child had his School Graduation at the York of Lilydale and it was a great day. The Staff organised a set meal and because I required a special meal it came out promptly. The food tasted good and the atmosphere was electronic.
There was a lot of space for the Graduates and all their guests. So they cater for big crowds and lots of room to move around.
Thanks
I use to go here fairly often when I was living in Lilydale, they served some great food back then
This is a great bistro for a family meal. The food is yummy and in large portions which is always good for value for money. They have a kids play area which is great. I dont think theres anything special but its a good night out for a family dinner.
FANTASTIC! Great value, and they hold wonderful events too! Good service considering how busy they are! Definitely a good place to go too as well as being affordable! Kid friendly as well!
Approximate cost: $25
We eat here once a month using the $8 meal voucher we get on the back of the shopping dockets. The food is great, parma's are huge and the kids love the indoor and outdoor play area. They have always been very accommodating when I have requested a seat at the playroom door too.
Nice food at reasonable price. Nothing was stand out aout our dining, but nothing was bad either.
Approximate cost: $25
I have been to the York on Lilydale for a few different occasions and always found there food to be of a good standard and the restaurant is always crowded.
Poor service.. They wanted to argue over a discount vouchers conditions when point in question was not listed in conditions.. Food was over priced and under value (plastic) don't bother.. Better off just going hungry.

We have been weekly customers here now for perhaps two years, and just love it. We are Seniors customers at this venue, so can't speak about the full menu. We are always greeted with smiling recognition and the meals are consistently very good, quick to arrive, and come with a smile. Great value.
Approximate cost: $15
I ordered the Chicken Wellington, straight up I was told it was cooked fresh and would take up to 40 mins. I was prepared to wait and let me say it was worth waiting for! Delish chick breast cooked perfect with yummy sauce and crunch puff pastry. I ordered Mash instead of chips and salad, that cost a bit more but is my preference with this meat dish.
Approximate cost: $24
Went there with a table of 12 adults and children. My partner and I had the York burger with chips. I asked for a side of aioli which I never received. I will admit I enjoyed my burger, but chips were not superb, just average. Would I go there again? Maybe.
ROCKING Parma! Best in the area. Dont touch the seafood,...you may regret it. BEST BEST BEST parma. Chips are very average and vary abit in texture and taste. Steak is Very average but the PARMA is fantastic!
Approximate cost: $15
My son loves the Parma's. My experiences at the York have been really hit or miss and I am usually reluctant to go in case it's a "miss" - as a local I like to patronise local businesses but not a the expense of tolerable dining.
We were met with a smile and our children were entertained in the children's area. The meals were wonderfully presented and tasted good.
Approximate cost: $18.00
A multi purpose venue with a bistro, gaming, tab and nightclub. The bistro is good value and the food is excellent but the kids area is limited and some of its outdoors which is no good in winter. The gaming area is small but drink prices are reasonable and some bar snacks are available.
Approximate cost: $25
after going here one night for an anniversary my self and partner were blown away by the change in service level and menu from last time i had eaten here so tender was the steak and flavorsome was the pasta special made a wonderful night
Approximate cost: $22
Have been to the York on different occasions throughout the years and watched it change with it's renovations and what not. I find it to be a bit hot and cold, sometimes I go for a meal and quite enjoy myself and other times not so much. For a cheap meal out with young kids it's probably a good choice... there were so many kids running around the restaurant last time I went and they did have a clown entertaining them all in the corner. Being that I was there with just a friend it was quite loud and distracting. The food is generally of good quality but same thing - can be a bit hit and miss.
York on Lilydale seem to feel that they have a captive market for wedding guests from Chateau Wyuna, they have not updated the decor in their rooms for a long time, and are quite rude at the front desk when you are inquiring about accommodation. We were booking almost the entire hotel for our wedding guests and wanted to feel that they cared about us, and the experience our guests would have. I would suggest going with alternative accommodation, even if it involves a bus ride to the hotel - others in the area will include this in the price and their rooms are far better.
Approximate cost: $25
Oh no! I wish I'd read this review before we booked rooms for our guests for our wedding at Cheateau Wyuna. We did go and check out the rooms there before we sent out our invites, and yes they are dated. But we're hoping the gardens, pokies and bar compensate for the somewhat ordinary decor. The alternative suggested by Chateau Wyuna at Wantirna Quest Appartments just seemed a really average location in suburban-nowhere in spite of bus option. Did any of your guests comment on their experience at York?? I hope it was not all bad!!
THINK again if you are having your wedding at THE YORK - your guests will starve like ours did - they will leave the wedding and remind you thereafter about the LACK of food. Among other problems - DONT DO IT!
Attended a function in the Tabu Lounge. The room is brightly lit so it lacks atmosphere. It is a plain room although the couches are super comfy. Finger food was supplied-this was plain pub food. The room needs a decor overhaul.
Drinks were served at bar prices and we could purchase bottles of wine instead of having to buy a glass of wine. The alcohol was reasonably priced and there were carafes of ice water on the bar-which meant that people could pace themselves and drink responsibly.
You can usually get an acceptable meal here, but sometimes the quality is lowered. I think it may have changed hands since JodieJ posted her comment (17th September 2007), and the quality has improved.
Recently, they held our staff break-up party, along with 2 others. So there were in excess of 100 patrons, but I have to admit the food was great and the full menu was sill on offer.
You don;t need to dress up fancy for the York On, but I disagree with JodieJ about the pub being old fasioned. If she's thinking of the bar in the restaurant its just a bar, nothing bad about it.
York On also offer Pokies, and have a great childens playground (two birds with one stone, ahah :) )
This place is great, if you don't feel like cooking
Went to the York for some drinks on a Thursday night, they have a pub/club area which is open till 1am on a Thursday night. It was actually karaoke night as well, so not the best place for a quite relax. I found the pub to be fairly old fashioned, and a bit rough around the edges...however this was compensated by the friendly staff and any place is what you make it. No need to dress up for this pub!
