The Ocean Child Inn has a popular restaurant with cute nautical themed decor.
The menu is quite varied and offers a variety of things from steak to seafood to curries. I recommend the steak.
I was a little disappointed at this restaurant. It is located in a 'swiss village' but doesn't appear to have any swiss food on the menu.
There are a number of mains available on the dinner menu and there is a buffet breakfast available (I didn't try lunch so can't comment).
When I went there they had a menu item called Curry of the Day. The waiter knew nothing about the dish and couldn't tell me what type of curry it was, only that it had meat in it. Not very helpful!
I'd eat there again if I was staying at the Tamar Valley Resort.
This shop has a great selection of dine-in (small area) or take away options. You can grab a take away and eat it next to the Sydney Harbour Bridge by the water.
They offer a selection of roast meats and vegetables as well as salads. This is one of my favourite take away shops and I am happy to travel a long way to get roast meat/vegetables and chips from here!
Ochaya Taxi & Limo Service is a luxury silver service taxi service which charges the normal taxi rates.
All the cars are clean and smell nice. The drivers are always well presented and reliable.
Why would you travel with an ordinary taxi when you can always rely on a clean taxi?
Small little café with good Italian food.
Access behind Marti Zucco off the Haigh's laneway near the chickenfeed carpark.
Access can be difficult as they only have stairs, which can be a problem if you require assistance, eg pram, walker etc. I tried for about 5 minutes to get the attention of staff to get some assistance (the cafe was empty and I couldn't see any staff). Eventually some passers by helped me. If they had a bell at the bottom of the stairs to get someone's attention it might be easier.
The pharmacists in this business are always happy to provide advice. I find them particularly helpful for advice on remedies for sick children.
This is also one of the few places where you can hire hospital grade breast pumps for nursing mothers.
There is plenty of parking in the North Hobart parking area near chickenfeed, and they are open late at night
I attended a Yoga session for beginners, having not previously done any Yoga before. I was really surprised and pleased with both the short term and long term benefits of Yoga, particularly as I work in an office environment and sit at my desk all day.
The instructor was friendly and explained everything clearly.
The yoga was satyananda yoga which includes postures, breath, relaxation and medication.
Approximate cost: $15/class
Hadleys Hotel offers old fashion traditional service.
They serve a traditional high tea where you get a plate with sandwiches, scones and other sweet and savouries. The high tea costs around $27 per person.
Approximate cost: $27.00
This business offers dry cleaning as well as clothing alterations and repairs.
I have used this service a number of times to get clothing dry cleaned and alterations done. I selected them as they are conveniently located in the city and they alter the clothes in a reasonable timeframe.
They can be more expensive than other alteration services, ie more expensive than in the suburbs, but I'm happy to pay for convenience.
They offer a same day service.
I have used Executive Taxi Service on a few times for early morning airport transfers and late night airport pickups.
They are always on time, the cars are clean, drivers polite an well presented.
Booking for your airport pickup saves the hassle of lining up for a taxi and potentially getting an unpleasant or smelly taxi.
