I went in to have my filling checked out. It looked and felt like it had broken.

I had to then lay there while I had 50 photos taken of my teeth while I was spoken to very rudely (demanding) 'I can't see a hole where is the hole' over and over, I repeatedly was asked to indicate where I thought it was.

I repeatedly indicated the area, until it got just ridiculous, Dr was running 25 minutes late (which is about usual) and I had left work early to make the 4 pm appointment.

He finishes at 4:30 pm and I thought that might have been the reason for his unacceptable behaviour. After I asked him to stop behaving in a defensive manner.

He said "well I can't see the hole, I have answered your question" "what is it that you want".

I had missed my last check-up and was already paying for a consultation so I asked for a scale and clean, and mentioned the reason.

My reply was a lot of huffing and puffing before he mumbled something in an abrasive, annoyed tone and left.

At this point I was feeling as one can imagine rather upset at being talked to and spoken to in such a manner and decided to leave. I took off the equipment and was about to leave when the assistant asked me to wait I said "it is not my fault he is running late, I am not staying to be spoken to like this" and went out to pay.

Then the assistant went out and got the other Dr , who insisted I go back to the room. I said no three times and asked to pay. He insisted and I went back.

I wish I hadn't. I already felt bad after being spoken to so rudely. I told him he was speaking to me in an unacceptable manner.

To which he ensured he had a witness while he told me over and over and over again that I expected too high a standard and he did not feel confident working on my teeth.

That I asked too many questions and he felt that I could never be satisfied with his work. I have been to see him five times over the last three years. The first time I was told to just leave the hole in my teeth and come back if it got any worse.

I paid for this appointment too. Let's just point out I have not criticised his work at all. It is entirely his interpersonal skills which ensured I was left at the counter crying, while I paid my $100.00 fee for the experience.

Usually I am really tolerant of rude abrupt health professionals if their work is good (it is a compromise that I have learnt to make). In this case no level of knowledge, skill or experience could compensate for such unprofessional behaviour.

Approximate cost: $100.
