Very convenient late night hangout in the city. The food is great but the service seems to slow down as the night wears on. By that stage though, the atmosphere and the cosy feel of the place can be more important than speedy service.

We love sharing snacks over a coffee before heading home, but after reading one of the reviews below, I can't wait to try the Greek salad.

Dropped by Gourmet Indulgence for a take away coffee during a long drive. What a charming place - loads of rustic character, delicious looking home cooked treats in the cabinet and a menu that made our mouths water. Needless to say, the coffee was just perfect.

The owner was friendly and chatty as she made the coffees, and then she popped out onto the street and pointed out a short cut that shaved ten minutes off our trip home!

This review is for IGA Express, Kensington WA

New owners are remodelling the Kensington IGA Express, adding new shelving, expanding the product range and generally sprucing the place up.

The best change is the beautiful fresh flower bunches that are put together in store by the owner. When we bought a posy for a friend recently, we were told it would last for two weeks - and it did! This is my new place for buying flowers on the way to visit friends and family.

Small local stores are not the most cost efficient way to buy groceries - they're really more about convenience and flexible opening hours. But I can honestly say that the fresh flowers at Kensington IGA Express are better value, fresher and more attractive than its mainstream competitors.

As a previous small business owner, I really appreciate this site.

WOMO is a place where customers can give honest feedback on small businesses that can either send more happy customers their way, or alternately warn them about deficiencies in their service or products that may be losing them customers without their knowledge.

It's an added bonus that our reviews are rewarded with Gift Cards - thanks WOMO. :-)

Love this site - always good value, often the best value around for cosmetics, hair care and fragrances.

They dispatch orders quickly, and your products will arrive individually gift wrapped, and packed into a white box tied with mauve ribbon!

A lot of their stock comprises samples and discontinued items, so you can often find stock of a product that is now unavailable in stores. By the same token, if you find something on StrawberryNET that you absolutely love, you may find that they can't supply it next time because all their discontinued stock is now sold.

On reading a review of Fishpond.com.au on WOMO below, I remembered a belated birthday gift I've been meaning to buy. I jumped straight onto Fishpond and ordered a Gift Voucher to be posted to the birthday girl. There was no postage charge for Fishpond to send her the voucher - all done very quickly and with no fuss.

The best thing is that whatever she chooses to purchase with her voucher, the delivery is free, so she gets to spend the full value of the Gift Card on fun stuff. Great system, great service! :)

A subsidiary of Google (isn't everything?), YouTube is the best site ever for funny videos that make you laugh out loud. I don't have an account, but like most people I visit YouTube when someone mass emails a link to something hilarious they want us all to enjoy.

I've also found loads of art and design tutorials that have proved really helpful and inspiring. Hard to believe that people are willing to create and post (for FREE) such long and detailed tutes, but I guess the grateful comments and massive hit rate would be quite gratifying.

Speaking of comments, YouTube is obviously a magnet for internet trolls and their poisonous comments. Troll interaction is worse with some types of videos than others.

Searching is very easy - I could type into a Google search bar: "YouTube - Waterwise Gardening in Western Australia" and find 5 waterwise gardening videos by the Garden Gurus plus over 100 Water Corporation campaign videos.

Like everything on the internet, you get what you're looking for. Thanks to YouTube I'm never short of funny vids of cute animals or normal people doing really, really dumb things, as well as the information vids and tutes that make life and studies so much easier.

This review is for Chemist Warehouse, Victoria Park WA

25 Jun 2012

For us, the attraction of Chemist Warehouse starts with their opening hours - held up at work and worried about getting a prescription filled on your way home? No problem - they're open Monday to Friday 9am - 9pm, Saturday 9am - 5.30pm, Sunday 10am - 5.30pm.

Their prices are usually the best you'll find anywhere, but if you bring in evidence of a lower price offered somewhere else, they'll beat it every time.

For such a large store, the service is very personal. We leave our scripts with them, and they text us when a script is due to be dispensed - we text back an OK, and they then send us a final text when it is dispensed and ready for collection. People with ready-dispensed scripts do not have to wait in the queue at the dispensary, but are given priority, which makes the process a whole lot faster and more pleasant!

They also order several supplements for us that are very hard to find, and keep one on the shelf in the dispensary ready for us at all times.

One downside - the aisles are always stuffed to the max with display bins and boxes of stock needing to be unloaded. This makes it quite hard to fit through the gaps with your heavy shopping basket, hard to actually see what's on the shelves, and it also causes 'traffic jams in the aisles'. I've complained along with many others, but no change in sight.

This is my local Garden Centre, and it's larger than it looks from the street.

The storefront offers the usual array of gardening equipment, indoor plants and pots, leisure furniture and accessories. Out the back is the nursery itself, with seedlings, seasonal plants and a selection of larger shrubs and trees.

The staff are pretty friendly and informative, and I've always been offered help transporting and loading large bags of mulch and potting mix into the car.

This review is for Manic Botanic, Mount Hawthorn WA

Manic Botanic is heaven for flower lovers! Gloriously beautiful blooms arranged with enormous style to surprise and delight those special people in your life.

When I send flowers from Manic Botanic, I know they will stand out from the crowd. They will be crunchy-fresh and last for ages, they will be charming and delightful. Seasonal blooms are the best value - locally grown, suited to our climate and best of all, supporting the local market instead of spending our precious aussie dollar on imports.

The designs are always unique and inventive, from the smallest little posy to the most lavish gift hamper or baby basket.

My favourite thing to send someone who's going through tough times is the Garden Party Teacup arrangement - this a very pretty Robert Gordon china teacup and saucer filled with roses, freesias and orchids. Exquisitely beautiful, small enough for a bedside table, and it just gets better and better as the blooms begin to open and release their fragrance. When the flowers are finished, the teacup becomes a permanent reminder of your friendship and support.

You can order online or ring them, let them know the occasion and your budget, and ask for suggestions.

Can't recommend this business highly enough!
