We were given the name of S Cook & Sons to have a silver family heirloom repaired under insurance. They soldered it back together again & polished it up to its former glory. They did a great job & we were happy with how it turned out.
Woven Cane are masters when it comes to cane furniture. I had my cane 2 seater repaired & re-painted & they did an excellent job. We were very happy with the results & it came back looking better than when we bought it. It's a great option to restore your weathered cane furniture instead of having to replace it.
These guys are a barrel of laughs. They bring great energy & enthusiasm with them & they managed to pack the house up in half a day between the four of them. They were respectful with our furniture & where helpful over & above their job consignment. They gave us some great ideas on keeping things fresh while they sat in storage - like tea bags in the fridge! Who knew?
I have found a distinct lack of compassionate and creative surgeons in Brisbane over the past year. Dr Brown is not one. He is vibrant, creative and has a wealth of experience in Sports Medicine. His outer office is friendly and proactive, which is a refreshing change from the dull rooms I had become used to

This is the only place in the world you can tour a fully equipped plane. If you didn't know that prior to arriving, you will when you pay admission... The displays are excellent, well laid out and truly engaging stories, you could easily spend a day in there. The plane exhibits... well, you're in Longreach and its the only place in the world you can do it so you do...

This is quintessential Australia. The displays are logically sequenced, and sufficiently detailed. The facilities were clean and modern and the staff were very helpfull.

The brass monkey is a quaint venue that I've been to number of times to see bands like the beautiful girls as well as a host of local acts, which I'm pleased they still support. The prices are fair, the place is generally clean & there's a hippy vibe going there. The only downside is that when there's a big crowd, the kitchen struggles to keep up with the meals being ordered. But that's just a distraction to the live music anyway.
Waves has beautiful, simple food that is an absolute pleasure to eat. The staff are so friendly & accommodating & the service is first class. Their gnocci is so fresh & all of their seafood is wonderful. And you can't leave without trying their strawberry desert, a waves specialty! Book a table near the window for lunch & daydream looking out at the beach & the kids playing at the park.
At $45, the half lobster mornay with chips & salad is impressive, but the service is severely lacking. We waited 20 minutes for a menu after being seated, & when our order was messed up, & then forgotten, the owner came out & publically gave our waiteress a dressing down infront of us & all of his patrons. The atmosphere was toxic, & we all felt uncomfortable eating there, despite the sunny day & views over the beach. We left Bella Costa with a very sour taste in our mouths.
I love coming here in winter. The food is comforting & warm, & it's so cosy overlooking the windblown beach & white capped sea, without experiencing any of the chilly weather that comes with it. The set menus are the way to go if you want value for money, but take your time to enjoy the sights & tastes, & go with the 3 courses. It's well worth the expense.
