This review is for Little Canton Chinese Restaurant, Mile End SA

apart from all the waiting staff knowing little or no english, the waitress could not tell us what was in any of the dishes
one entree was served and had to wait 10 minutes before other 2 were served
asked for second drink which didn't arrive, tried to order it a second time and could only get my point across by tapping on the empty can
owner/maitre d made a point of sweeping the floor near diners because he was bored but don't look too closely at the walls or the floor
no smiling staff
unfortunately though, the food was excellent quality but service and atmosphere would not bring me back until owner number 4 takes over.
original chinese restaurant was the only good one so far

The food is excellent quality but the staff just dont pay attention, listen or repeat the order back to you. My brother and best mate ordered schooners of beer and ended up with the half litre glass, they had already started drinking from the glass so couldnt sent it back and my brother had ordered the giant hotdog but bought out the pork hock which got promptly sent back. When we went to pay I was concentrating so hard on the size of the beer and miss heard what was being charged, not that I could hear her clearly, but as soon as saw got charged for the pork and not the sausage, a difference of $8, I pointed it out. She remembered we had the wrong thing brought out and refunded the difference. Point is no matter how good the food, I'm not going back. WARNING - get them to repeat the order back to you and double check your receipt otherwise you could be paying for something you didnt order

a nice quiet little bakery just off the main street with a quaint shaded garden. Coffee is average but the strudels are to die for. Bought the $10 piece to take home, Cherry and custard, and the three of us had 2 slices out of it each. DIVINE. Will be going up to Hahndorf again by bus just to buy the apple strudel

this is more of a restaurant rather than a cafe. I had the best spaghettipasta gamberi ever. 5 good sized prawns in pesto, roasted cherry tomatoes and chorizo slices the width of most cabana. Tasty is an understatement. Group of 5 of paid $200.50 in total for 5 mains, 3 moscato, 2 soft drinks, 3 desserts and 3 coffee/tea. instead of sugar with the tea, a small sealed tube of honey came with it. The Gelato was excellent quality and comes with 3 small biscuits. very well presented all round

even though about the only thing I buy from here is a paper on the way home and not every day at that, the young friendly staff are always smiling, welcoming and non judgemental that you havent bought them out. being semi regular nice to have a bit of a chat too that way they remember you. The current owner of this newer franchise has transformed this spot into a convenience store with the bare essentials so it feels that its not crowded and feel pressured to buy. A BREATH OF FRESH AIR

the base is soo crispy and light we needed maccas 2.5 hours later. This place is a glenelg icon and always accommodating on new years eve. great friendly staff. not the cheapest pizza place but definitely not the most expensive. Very tasty pizzas are great value. There is a surcharge if you pay by credit card

This review is for Mandoo Korean Dumplings, Adelaide SA

verified email - 13 Jan 2014

my brother had read about this place else where and was determined to try it. We got our chance on New Years Eve. Most people there were experienced and new which dishes to order. my brother and I ordered fried chicken and fried pork dumplings. We are DEFINITELY going back there. One of the chefs was making the dumpling cases behind the counter in full view so you know they are home/hand made. Problem is that the venue is TOO small and you need to get there early to get a table. not a place to take your time eating with friends unless you all know how it all works. EXCELLENT value especially for the quality

This review is for Sushi Train Express - Grenfell‎, Adelaide SA

much much smaller and different owner from Welland, Hyde Park and Gouger Street. EXCELLENT CRISPY tempura. Chef knows his stuff. Watched regulars order noodle dishes and almost wished it was cooler to do same. Draw back is that because of its size, you come out smelling of cooking oil. If you work in the city you could always do take away

This review is for Sushi Train, Welland SA

this would have to be my favourite Sushi Train venue and I have eaten at 3 others in Adelaide. Its convenient and easy to find if you live in the western suburbs. Its also the biggest of the franchises. Recently when I went, we used the side booth where you order using a computer screen and the waiters bring you the food. there is still a wait for favourite dishes that havent been cooked yet but well worth the wait. Average dinner spend is about $35 including soft drinks so its not something you do every week unless you're an addict and then it pays to be a member where you can redeem points for $$$$ off your meal

This review is for Wok In A Box, Adelaide SA

verified email - 13 Jan 2014

I tried Wok In the Box Norwood years ago and was not impressed but this franchise owner takes pride in his business. He and his staff always welcome you with a smile and are quite fast. Not had to wait more than 10 mins during a busy period. The food is well cooked and MUCH healthier than Maccas, Hungries or KFC and just as fast at the right time. I joined the Wok In the Box loyalty scheme and only 45c for my lunch about once a month. plenty to choose from but if your on a budget, buy your drink from a supermarket. Drinks approx $3.80 - $4.50 for 600ml

Approximate cost: $8.95
