We've had a couple of meals at the Black Cow, and on both occasions the meals were magnificent, and the service was superb - they are very attentive. My husband had the steak, which he said was one of the best he'd eaten. I had vegetarian meals both times, and they were very delicious. The meals are expensive, but these were special occasions, and it was worth paying that bit extra for.

This review is for Hotel Grand Chancellor, Launceston TAS

My son and daughter-in-law held their wedding reception at the Grand Chancellor, and were not disappointed. The staff were co-operative and helpful throughout the planning, and the room was very tastefully set up. Also, the menu had some good options to choose from. My Mum and sister, who travelled from interstate, stayed there overnight, which was very convenient. The room was plain, but was all they needed for the night - and it was clean and neat. And being so central to the CBD, it made it easy the next day for anything they needed in town. If you wanted, it's just a short stroll to the magnificent City Park. All in all, we had a wonderful night, and would recommend the Grand Chancellor for a wedding reception any time.

This review is for Harvest Launceston Community Farmers' Market, Launceston TAS

This is an outstanding market held every Saturday from 8-30am to 12-30pm. There is a huge variety of stalls with produce of very high quality, which includes meat, seafood, dairy products and eggs; gardeners selling vegetables, fruit, herbs, flowers and plants; people making cheese, honey products, jams, preserves, oils, and various products with nuts etc. You can also buy home made breads, cakes, biscuits and pastries, as well as a range of delicious cooked foods. I love having breakfast there, with plenty to choose from, whether vegetarian or meat lover, and always come home with some fresh produce and preserves. They have a variety of coffee blends to choose from, a real treat for coffee lovers! A great place to get the freshest foods and delicious gourmet produce, and often you'll hear some good live music. Friendly atmosphere. An exciting place to visit!

This review is for The Royal Oak Hotel, Launceston TAS

I've been to the Royal Oak a few times, often to just have a drink and listen to music - they have the best live music, and a wide variety. The staff are always friendly, and the atmosphere is always warm and inviting. It's a place that you can feel comfortable going along by yourself, just sitting and listening to the great music. I've had a meal a couple of times, both times the meals were large for the price. Once I really enjoyed my meal, unfortunately the second time the fish was dry and not very enjoyable. It won't stop me going back again, though.

This review is for Hullaballoo Balloons & Parties, Launceston TAS

This shop has everything you need for a party/ dress up occasion, or just a fun occasion. I've never left the shop without something I needed. The last time was for make up and hair colouring for my daughter's "ghost bride" costume - the staff were really helpful, and produced exactly what I needed - and more! They have a huge selection of costumes, face paints, balloons, etc - everything you need for your party. Take a look - you won't be disappointed!

This review is for The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel, Hobart TAS

We stayed here in early January, when it was the busiest time in Hobart, with the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, and the Taste of Tasmania in full swing. It was great - really central, just a short walk to the waterfront. The room was small but clean and neat, and the service was good. If you're fortunate to get a room here for those major events, it is the perfect location. We also had very good meals in their restaurant, so did not have to go any farther. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'd recommend it any time.

This review is for Windmill Educational Toys & Equipment, Launceston TAS

This shop stocks the most functional, sturdy and durable toys that I have seen in Launceston. They have a great booklet listing a huge variety of toys, from musical instruments, to sandpit equipment, to wheelbarrows - the list is endless. The prices unfortunately are pretty high, but if you keep a look out for sales you'll end up with very good quality toys and equipment which will last a very long time.

This review is for Stanley Seal Cruises, Stanley TAS

We recently did the seal cruise and loved every minute of it! The hosts are a husband and wife team, and are warm, friendly and welcoming. She runs a little cafe and prepares a light breakfast or lunch, as well as coffee/ tea, scones with her homemade jam, slices etc, so you can have a snack while you're waiting for the cruise, which goes either 10am or 3pm, at certain times of the year. Bookings are preferred. The cruise lasts for 75 minutes, return, and the minimum no. of passengers required is 2, so you'll always be guaranteed a trip. The weather was magnificent, and the scenery was stunning! The captain is very knowledgeable and has been doing it for many years - he's such a colourful character, and his commentary, as well as being very informative and interesting, also included a lot of humour and some heartwarming stories. And the seals did not disappoint! We drifted really close to the colony and had plenty of time to watch them lazing about on the rocks, or playing in the water. They even come up close to the boat - and provide plenty of opportunity for great photos. A cruise to remember.

This review is for Cafe Bon Appetit, Launceston TAS

verified email - 03 Jan 2015

Each time we've been to Bon Appetit for lunch it's been busy, but we've managed to get a table. A very popular place to eat, very convenient right in the CBD to stop for some lunch. We've always chosen fresh rolls/ sandwiches to be made up - with plenty of fresh ingredients. Have never been disappointed. The staff are really friendly, and though they've always been busy they've delivered our meals quickly and in a very friendly manner. I'd recommend Bon Appetit any time.

100% Gluten Free meals is what they offer! We discovered this little cafe by chance recently - and will be going back, even if just for the friendly service! They have the most delicious, healthy gluten free meals (great to know if you're gluten intolerant). We received a very cheerful greeting, and when I ordered a coffee with soy milk we were informed that the soy milk does not cost more, as they don't agree with people having to pay more for milk! A pleasant change. The coffee was good, and they have delicious light lunches on offer - healthy and very tasty. The smoked salmon and egg roll with dairy free cream cheese is really delicious. They also have healthy, gluten free sweet treats to choose from. Great service.
