We recently held a party for our seven-year-old son at Box Hill Indoor Sports and couldn't have been more impressed.

From the moment we made a booking, the process was smooth. The staff at the front desk are helpful and the guy who was appointed to our party was great with the kids.

We were given a large choice of games to play, from indoor cricket and dodge ball through to soccer and netball. The kids ate between the first and the second sport they played.

The centre itself is brilliant -- modern, clean and well maintained. There is also a lot of parking on site.

If there could be any improvement, it would be that the food and drink could be healthier. That would go hand-in-hand with the active nature of the parties.

I have since started playing indoor cricket at the centre and can recommend it as very well run.

The cost below is per head -- we invited around a dozen kids.

This review is for Card Zone, North Melbourne VIC

Card Zone sells trading cards, particularly sports related ones. It has a huge selection of AFL, cricket, NRL and soccer cards. It also stocks trading card supplies, including albums and boxes.

Customers are able to buy single packets of cards, entire boxes or even cases of cards. There is simply no better place to visit for the breadth and quality of trading cards stocked.

The store sends out a regular and informative newsletter in the form of a printed newspaper, which must take hours to complete! It lists all of the stores stock and is incredibly useful.

The staff are reasonably helpful but the prices are at the high end of the market. I have used their mail order service and it has been perfect.

Overall, a quality store with helpful people but expect to pay top dollar!

A modern, impressive gym with loads of high quality equipment all within a large and clean environment.

Fit 'n' Fast Forest Hill is well located in the Forest Hill Chase shopping centre on the top level where there are always plenty of free car parks.

My only real criticism of the gym is that the staff seem happy to sit behind the front desk and gossip. I rarely see them on the floor, actively helping patrons.

The gym offers good value for the range and quality of equipment it has. The cost below is my fortnightly payment. In addition to this is a quarterly maintenance fee of $10.

This review is for Ganesh Indian Restaurant, Blackburn VIC

Really like dining at Ganesh. Friendly Indian service and authentic cuisine. The restaurant itself feels like a little slice of India and is always clean and appealing.

Highlights from the menu are the butter chicken, beef masala and vegetable pakora. Despite being deep fried, the pakora never seems oily or over cooked. For a change, the aloo gobi (potato and cauliflower in herbs and spices) is always a hit at our house.

If there is any knock on Ganesh, it's the prices -- they seem a little too high. Although, to be fair, when we order two main courses plus rice, an entree and naan bread, we often have some left over for the next day!

The price below is to feed our family of four (take away).

Approximate cost: $35.00

This review is for Con's Fish And Chips, Blackburn South VIC

verified email - 28 Feb 2013

Con has moved on but the new owners are doing a pretty good job at upholding his legacy.

The crumbed/grilled flake is still as Con would have prepared it and it's a highlight of our fish 'n' chip meal. Chip servings are fairly generous.

Occasionally I have had to wait reasonably long periods despite calling ahead with my order and being told our food will be ready by a specific time. I think they can afford to tell people if their meal will take half an hour rather than 20 minutes if it means people aren't left waiting around.

The premises seem clean and the staff are generally pleasant.

The cost below is for 3x crumbed/grilled flake, $4 worth of chips and 2x calamari rings.

Approximate cost: $23.00

This review is for Bilia Volvo, Hawthorn East VIC

verified email - 28 Feb 2013

As with most authorised service repairers, Bilia is terribly expensive when it comes to servicing.

I bought my Volvo from them and it's been a disappointing experience from the start. First, the car had an exhaust fault (possibly a manufacturing issue but probably should have been picked up by the seller). Most recently it had a fuel line problem, for which a part had to be ordered and took a week to arrive.

Given the cost of a recent scheduled service, it was also disappointing to find the car was covered in dust and grime from a week in their yard.

The cost below was for our first scheduled service on the vehicle.

My under-warranty Mini needed several repairs recently that took three visits (two of which took the whole day) to rectify. No great issue with this (especially as I had the use of a free courtesy car) as the work seems to be have been well done and I have had no follow up problems.

However, I have found the prices I would have had to pay (if the car wasn't under warranty) to be astonishingly high. I also have concerns over their record keeping as they have no record of my last visit and the work that was completed on that day.

Everyone is courteous, however, and I feel in good hands at Doncaster BMW.

This review is for Fuji Xerox, Melbourne VIC

A mixed experience. I purchased a secondhand Fuji Xerox DocuCentre II C4300 printer last year that needed a service. I was made to set up an account with Fuji Xerox Australia, which was time consuming and unnecessary given the small repair required.

Once this was complete, I then had all sorts of trouble getting the local sales person to attend to my needs. Happily, my job was finally referred to an extremely helpful senior support person at FX's Notting Hill office (in Melbourne).

Then, the actual service tech who visited me this week to assess the printer couldn't have been more knowledgeable and friendly.

My biggest beef with Fuji Xerox is the cost of parts. I have been quoted $1300 for the fitting of a new hard drive, but I can source that same hard drive for $55 if I choose to fit it myself!

The cost listed here is the for a service call and one hour of labour.

Gary, the owner, has been our accountant and tax adviser for over five years and we have found him to be thorough and friendly at all times.

Compared with others I have used (notably the chain tax advisers), Gary provides a far more detailed level of service. He is prompt in responding to phone calls and e-mail, no matter how trivial the advice we need.

The cost quoted here is for completing tax returns for my wife and I, which are reasonably straightforward but include share dividends and imputation credits. I am self employed so there is quite a lot of detail in my income statements and depreciation schedule.

Approximate cost: $600.00

Split system air conditioner installed in study. A particularly challenging job because the unit was inside the home's front wall and we wanted no sign on it from the outside. This involved lifting the tin roof so that electrical cabling could be sent to the motor, which was mounted 10 metres back from the front of the house, out of view. Further, the condensation outlet was taken through the wall to the side of the house. A specialist job that was fairly expensive but expertly handled.

Approximate cost: $2500.00
