This review is for Southeastern Hotel, Mount Gambier SA

The Southeastern Hotel is the nearest watering hole to the Blue Lake Motel (down the hill and across the road. The decor is easy on the eye without being too modern or too dingy. The meal servings are plentiful very satisfying and reasonably priced with an adequate wine list to choose from. The staff were a little hard to find at some times but when one was found or served you they were friendly and helpful. The pokie room is not overcrowded like some tend to be and quite bright, a good venue.

The Blue Lake Motel is a Budget Motel so you don't expect bells and whistles. The room itself was satisfactory and comfortable but it could do with a little maintenance - a number of spider webs were included in the decor. Other amenities were OK but drinking mugs and wine glasses were not provided. However the proprietors were friendly, helpful and obliging and the cost of the accommodation was acceptable and reasonable.

This review is for Aquifer Tours, Mount Gambier SA

We went to Mount Gambier for a holiday for four days in the middle of winter when the maximum temperature struggled to reach 13 degrees, rainy and windy. We did not go on the tour which by all accounts is extremely interesting - we will definitely be doing this next time we visit the area. What we did do though was to call in to the cafe for a bite to eat and a coffee. The toasted sandwich we had together with the coffee really hit the spot and the lady who served us was really friendly and talked about many interesting aspects of the tour and surrounding areas. Well worth a look.

This review is for Wholesale Toner Australia, West Burleigh QLD

I have bought from Wholesale Toners a number of times now and can not fault their service. Their policy is to have an order dispatched overnight and they are true to their word. When you place an order on one day (depending on the time of day you place the order) it is delivered the following day. The prices are just over half the price you may pay at a retail store which can save you heaps. Altogether great prices great service what more could you want. P.S. They even include some lollies in the package.

This review is for Port Vincent Deli, Port Vincent SA

We bought some fish and chips from the Port Vincent deli and sat in the car on the foreshore and ate them (it was a cold day). My wife is very fussy when it comes to chips but these were superb. We enjoyed the food so much that we went back to this shop three more times during our four night stay in Port Vincent. We tried their steak sandwich with the lot, egg and bacon sandwich, chips, fish and wedges and found all the food an excellent quality, well prepared and at a reasonable price served by friendly staff. A good light change from Hotel food and well worth the visit.

This review is for Antique Bazaar Of Strathalbyn, Strathalbyn SA

We went to the Antique Bazaar at Strathalbyn some time ago and was amazed at the amount of old china, cutlery, books, games and numerous other nick nacks. Many brought back memories like old records, comics, beer cans, bottles and many other items of yesteryear. This compelled us to do some searching and cleaning out when we got home. Since then we have called Brett a number of times to check over items that may be of interest to him for his shop. We found Brett to be a friendly, courteous, and sincere chap who returned our calls promptly when we had goods to offer. He knows exactly what he wants and will not keep you guessing as to his requirements. He paid cash on the spot for all articles he required. If if any one is looking to clean up grandma's place of if you have items from a deceased estate or any old heirlooms from great granddad's, these are the items that Brett is interested in. The shop is a great place to browse and who knows, you may be able to pick up that special old something.

We had a meal in the Ventnor Hotel at Port Vincent twice during our recent holiday and found this venue to be bright roomy with a good view of the foreshore. The meals were more than adequate and reasonably priced. The service staff were courteous and friendly. A great place to dine whilst on holiday, good venue, good food and good wine.

This review is for Port Vincent Motel & Apartments, Port Vincent SA

Our stay at Port Vincent Holiday Cabins was comfortable and acceptable for the price we paid. We obtained this venue as a Travel Auction deal which was considerably less than the normal price for this venue. Had we paid full price we would have been thoroughly disappointed. The front veranda light did not work which together with the absence of lighting in the driveway from the street to the back of the property where we were staying in cabin 6, made the area very dark at night time. The front wire screen latch was faulty, the fan in the en suite adjoining the master bedroom did not work. The knob on the second bedroom door was missing and the taps in the kitchen area and the en suite were continually dripping. The t.v screen was too small for the viewing position and the sound, even though when set at maximum could not be heard over the air conditioner. So we either had to be warm with no t.v. or watch the t.v. in the cold. Lastly the furniture was poorly positioned for the available electric lighting.

This review is for Pie King, Port Wakefield SA

verified email - 20 May 2011

This shop, the newest bakery in Port Wakefield beats the rest. The pies are full of ingredients, no air pockets, the doughnuts, honey logs and kitchener buns are enormous, almost twice the size of any standard products obtained elsewhere. The other varieties need to be seen to be believed. The lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful and liked a chat. the prices are very very good. We had just come back from Port Vincent where I bought a slice of carrot and walnut cake for $5. We bought a whole carrot and walnut cake from Pie King for just $6.95. I rest my case. It may be just a tad hard to get to in busy traffic but it will be well worth the effort.

This review is for The Old Grain Shed, Ardrossan SA

verified email - 20 May 2011

This little shop right in the main street of Ardrossan has a varied range of curios, nick nacks and souvenirs especially for one seeking a little something different. The lady behind the counter is not only friendly and very helpful but obviously enjoys a chat with passers through and locals alike. She is also a mine of local information as one chap, looking for a JP found out. The lady was obliging and the customer was happy. Well worth a visit.
