We had an old queen size mattress to get rid of. I rang Melbourne Mattress Recycling who were able to come and collect it the next business day. Payment was easy using their online system via paypal. They collected as arranged with no difficulties (despite our place being a little bit hard to find, and some confusing instructions about where the mattress would be left). Friendly, prompt, and great service all round.
Approximate cost: $35
I attended an intro to digital photography course at the studio, purchased as one of those daily deal vouchers. The online booking process was really easy and prompt. On the day I was the only who turned up (others having cancelled at the last minute). I appreciated Brian's professionalism in still running the class (of 1!) and his taking the time to go through the features on my camera. He explained concepts very clearly and I learned a lot - as a total novice I left feeling more confident to go away and learn more and try things out. Brian's down-to-earth and patient approach (and absence of the jargon and snobbery that I sometimes associate with photography/photographers!) was fantastic. The class would probably work even better as a small group as peoples' questions and contributions would add to it but it was still very worthwhile.
I'd heard a lot about this place so made a special effort to go check it out. Service is terrific, very friendly and efficient. They have a great range of products. However the food itself (I've got bakery food a few times) is only good, not great. And fairly expensive for what it is.
I went on a busy Sunday afternoon and the service wasn't great - took them a while to acknowledge me let alone serve me, and subsequently (after a long wait) mixed up my order. But now I've got that over with - it doesn't really. For a delicious, fresh wrap full of tasty ingredients, for only $8.50!! One can't be too fussy. If only they were open at dinner time too
These guys are great. Have used them twice for printing services - they are really prompt in providing quotes and completing orders, great communication, and staff are really helpful and friendly. Also really conveniently located in West Melbourne - close to city & train stations but easy parking right outside for pickup. I didn't shop around much on prices but they seemed comparable to other places.
Prompt service, easy-to-use website (great to be able to do it over the Internet), good quality. Would be good if they were open on weekends too.
The most popular kebab joint on Sydney Rd Coburg and there's a reason for that. Very yummy kebabs, the ladies who work there are so onto it, my order has always been taken promptly and they always get it right. Not so nice for eating in because it's so tiny, cramped, and busy. But that's OK we always get it for takeaways anyway
Have eaten here a couple of times, in the back restaurant and in the pub restaurant part. Unfailingly, the food has been delicious, the service excellent, and the surroundings cosy and comfortable. Just how your local pub should be.
Coburg library is small yet has a surprisingly good range of books, CDs, DVDs. Reserves are now free (I think they used to be $1) which means that anything from any Moreland Council libraries can be reserved and brought to the library for you. This is great for popular/recent things that are always on loan. Staff there are always friendly and helpful and there is also free wi-fi, printing services, and work spaces.
*NB this is also a photography business but I'm reviewing it as a cafe as that's what we went there for*
I went here with 3 friends for a high tea deal that was offered through the living social website. It was a pretty good deal, high tea for 4 people including a bottle of Riccadonna for something like $89.
Booking the high tea was really difficult. They provided a mobile number which I rang multiple times and left messages, but it was never answered and it took multiple attempts before my call was returned.
The week before the high tea, someone called to confirm the booking. That's great. However when I rang back, the person I spoke to was really confused and couldn't seem to understand what I was calling about. Plus, even though I had confirmed it, when we arrived on the day, they apparently had a booking only for 2 people.
The food itself wasn't too bad. Nothing special and certainly paninis and mini-pies with packet tomato sauce is not something I would associate with a traditional high tea. The service from the man who served us initially was great. He was friendly and attentive.
However, the thing that marred the whole experience for us was the service from a second woman towards the end of the high tea. After finishing our first glass of bubbly, we asked this woman if we could have the rest of our bottle (as the people at the next table had, and as per the deal on our voucher) - this woman made a face, argued that we had two vouchers for two (not correct), and finally stormed off to get the bottle. She came back, slammed it on the table and said in what seemed a very surly tone "go nuts". There was no apology at any time for the mixup, not even an attempt to be polite or suggest that there might have been some miscommunication. All in all she made us feel really uncomfortable even though we had only been asking for what was meant to be included in what we had paid for.
So overall, for $23ish per person it was a really good deal but I will not be returning here and would not recommend it to others.
