This review is for Tiger Airways, Gladstone Park VIC

After hearing some horror stories I was a little reluctant to try Tiger, but my flights were perfectly fine! No delays at all - in fact we landed 5-10mins early each time, and the crew were noticeably friendly. For a budget airline, I was very impressed.

Delicious food at reasonable prices. Fun atmosphere and quirky decor. Cheap tacos and beers on Taco Tuesdays. There's a great menu with lots of variety - I definitely recommend the Chili Con Carne.

Approximate cost: $20

This review is for Melbourne Connection Backpackers And Travellers Hostel, Melbourne VIC

A great little hostel in a fantastic location. It's definitely small, but this can be seen as a good thing. Mostly used by seasoned young travellers (I'd suggest avoiding the 16-bed dorms if you don't fall into this category). Kitchen facilities are more than adequate (remember to label your food) and the rooms have lockers (bring a padlock). There are a few communal areas with TVs etc and the bathrooms are much cleaner in the mornings (shower before brekky!)

Approximate cost: $25-$30 for a dorm, more for private rooms

One of my very favourite restaurants. The food is absolutely delicious, the prices are great, and the family who run it are always so very lovely. There's a great range of snacks, dumplings, noodles, mains and more - I go regularly and always find something delicious to try. Also be sure to look out for the lunch specials.

Approximate cost: $6-$12

This review is for The Adult Ballet Studio, Darlington NSW

Designed just for adults, including those of us with little to no previous dance experience, the Adult Ballet Studio provides wonderfully positive and friendly classes for a variety of levels. We're worked hard and definitely feel it the next day, but it's also a lot of fun and the teachers and students are so lovely.

Approximate cost: $22/2hrs

This one's fun - you order your ingredients on the menu you get given, where you tick boxes for the soup, meats, veges, sauces etc that you want. Then you're delivered a big hot pot of the soup, which you boil at your table, adding the other ingredients as you go so you can eat them fresh, literally straight out of the hot pot! I shared a combination hot pot with a friend and we had great fun with it - watch out, even the 'medium' grade of 'spicy' is very hot here.

Approximate cost: $30-$40 shared between 2 (maybe 3)

This is such a unique experience - choose your ingredients and barbecue them up yourself in the middle of your table! Alternatively, order a hot pot and you get a big boiling pot to share on your table, with a whole stack of ingredients cooking up as you watch. I love it not only for the food but for the novelty as well - such good fun and great for a night out with a decent group of friends/family.

This review is for New Taste Dim Sim, Ashfield NSW

verified email - 08 Dec 2009

I've bought a couple of containers of frozen dumplings and dim sims from this shop, which I've steamed up and eaten at home, and they're just delicious! They do bulk sales (20-50 pieces) as well as small serves (~6 pieces) and there's also hot food available around lunchtime, as well as a freezer of Chinese ice creams and ice blocks. I'm a big fan!

Approximate cost: $4-$6 for ~6 pieces

One of our favourite takeaway restaurants. The food here is so delicious, really tasty and often wonderfully spicy! The delivery is never late and service is really friendly. A tad more expensive than our other local Thai takeouts but it's hardly that expensive really. Thoroughly recommended.

Approximate cost: $13-$18

This review is for Da Vinci's, Summer Hill NSW

Another of the excellent Italian restaurants in the Summer Hill Village. The pizza menu is superb with the options of half/half pizzas and I've found the staff are generally very willing to let customers design their own pizzas.

Approximate cost: $10-$18
