We had 1 lunch and 2 breakfasts at this place. For the breakfasts we had 9 adults, 2 teenagers and 3 small children. Nothing was too much effort for the staff who were very welcoming and helpful. moving tables around and bringing high chairs. The food and coffee and drinks were served quickly and they were all of a very high standard. The prices were typical, about $18 for a big breakfast, with smaller cheaper options. The servings were large. The place was busy every time we went but they clearly have enough staff to manage all the tables, which is wonderful. I had Eggs Bennedict one day and pancakes the next and they were delicious. They also made a lovely coffee, and I am quite fussy with my coffee. Being a large group it was actually great that you all ordered and payed at the counter. A lot less hassle than having to split bills at the end. The area is large and bright and beachy looking. It is clean and comfortable.

Our welcome was happy and welcoming and the room was clean and as expected. The lounge furniture was a little worn but comfortable. Little things could be fixed, like there was a broken blind in the lounge that was very hard to pull up, a shelf in the 2nd room was broken and one in the main room was being held up by match sticks, BUT, the kitchen was well equiped and they came in and made the beds, restocked coffee and bathroom supplies each day. Unfortunately we had terrible weather so really were unable to enjoy the heated pool. But they have kids club and when we wanted some glue to use in our rooms, they happily gave it to us. The staff were very friendly and helpful all the time and made children feel special. We only stayed 2 nights but really have no complaints. My only complaint was that you had to pay up the full price when you booked. They have a great range of cafe's and bars very close by, in fact it looks like its part of the resort and they were very friendly, great with the kids and the service was excellent there as well. The verandah setup was stupid, like it was not quite wide enough to fit the table they gave us???, but as it was rainy weather it didnt really matter for this trip. I could see that other verandah's were much better.

What a fabulous experience. About 2 years ago a group of my friends went to this place for High Tea. It is in a private home and the hosts are so warm and wonderful. You turn up and they welcome you, show you where you can leave coats and such and then the wife takes you for a tour of her lovely gardens, then the husband takes you down to the back of the property for more tours of the natural bush land and his Bee's. He loves his bee's and knows so much about them. He gives you a talk about how he makes honey and all about the life cycle of the bee's. It ws a little like being on a school excurssion wich was funny, but such knowledgable hosts. Then the son came down to get us because the husband get's carried away and doesn't bring us back for our High Tea. When you get back to the house the wife has made all these tiny, wonderful little cakes and savouries for you. So much stuff you can't possibly eat it all. You get choice of fine Twining Tea's presented in a wonderful wooden box, and you can have as much as you like. You are left to your own devices, and never rushed, so we just chatted away until it was starting to get dark and thought we had better leave these people to their house. If you wanted anything you could just speak in a slightly louder voice and they would come out of nowwhere to help you. They even offered us the left overs to take home if we wanted. They also make this honey jelly wich is so mild and delicious. These were displayed on a cabinet next to the High Tea table, but at no time did anyone try to sell it to us. It was on a small dish for tasing as part of our high tea, so some ladies did buy some, but we asked about it, it wasn't sold to us. What a wonderful experience to add to your trip to the Blue Mountains.

OK, I go to this Cafe for business meetings as they have free wifi and it is a cosy and quiet spot with comfortable chairs and table. The coffee is excellent - quite strong but I like it that way. I think they even roast the coffee in house. But the service is pretty sub-standard. They serve you when you first get there but unless the man (who I presume is the owner) or the mature lady is there, the young girls they have serving are generally lazy and inattentive. One time the girl was sitting up on the counter chatting to the girl making coffee, and I was waving madly for attention and had to actually get up and ask for another coffee. We use to go here for Mothers Day or Fathers Day breakfast, but they always overcook the eggs, even when you ask them not to, and boy is the sevice slow. I have a couple of girl friends and we like having High Tea. We tried their high Tea one time and it was very substandard. I guess we have had good much better high teas, at the same or lower price. Never go there for High Tea, it's a waste of money and very dissorganised. But, it is a lovely spot, with a fireplace and comfortable decor, shame about the service and the cook that doesnt know how t cook an egg.

Whenever I have to catch a cab from home I always book a cab through Manly Cabs. Mainly because they are local but because they always turn up exactly on time. They are very polite and know where to go. They always check with me that I agree with the way they want to go. I would ususally catch a taxi to the city if going for lunch or an outing where drinking may be involved or to the airport for a long trip where it is cheaper to catch a cab than pay for parking, and they know exactly where to go and always ask me if they want a lift home. If I do and know about what time they meet me there at the time I specified. If I'm not sure they give me their phone number, even at the busiest Christmas times. I guess they love the big fare back to Avalon, but the service is excellent. I have had the same driver the last 3 times I went to the city, he remembered me after only one time. I must say that some of the cars are a little old and often they will try and leave the window open instead if turning on the air con, but if you ask nicely they will shut the window and turn on the air con. So the meain reason I recommend them is that they turn up exactly when you want them to, if they are early they just wait outside until the time you requested.

This is a tiny restaurant, with terrible decor, almost as if they are trying to look cheap and tacky as if that will make them an "in place" to eat, BUT, they are cheap and the food is good and they are relatively quick. Teenagers in the area go there for dinner which is nice and I have been there for dinner once with another mum and 3 teenagers. It is casual and fun, and after we went to the Chill Bar for coffee and Ice cream. We often get take-away from them and they are fairly quick, but they always take longer than they tell you on the phone. Not fancy but nice. Lots of non-spicy food which is great for kids, not so great if you like spicy food.

What a fantastic dining experience. I went here for lunch last week with 2 friends and this place is everything you think of when you think fine dining, small perfectly formed and presented meals. When they serve you your food, they serve each person at the same time, so we had 3 waiters stand next to us and put the plates down at the same time. It isn't crowded at all, so plenty of room and they make you feel so special. It is very expensive, but I knew it would be and it is because it is an entire dining experience. They have a lovely lady that matches wines for you, they serve you differnt types of bread constantly (probably because portions are so small). I love these places because you would never make these meals at home. I watch a lot of those cooking shows like Master Chef and Top Chef and this is what they aspire to. Definately recommend for a very special occassion. There is even a lady that meets you on the ground floor to press the button on the lift and then the same when you go home. Wow, a fantastic experience.

This shop is around the corner from my house and if we are ever in need of a wetsuit or body board, flippers, cossies, rashies and even VANs, we go here. Yes we like to shop local but the main point is that they, especially Watto, go out of their way to help us. He ordered in a special smaller size VAn for my younger daughter, special colour for her body board, because all the one's he had in stock were a little boyish. They have great sales as well. Their prices are RRP, so they dont rip you off, and there have been times when I was walking past with my elder daughter, she liked a top in the shop so when we went in to buy it the guy gave us a 10% discount for being local. We dont buy a huge amount of stuff here, but that doesnt seam to matter. Also, they dont charge you extra for using a credit card which is wonderful. They also dont try and sell you something that isn't right for you. If they havent got the right product they will order it for you and have even at times advised us of other places we could buy ity.

Thank goodness this business opened in Avalon. They have delicious pies and really yummy cakes, and they also make a good coffee. Their service is always friendly and you can buy the best family pies for dinner for about $22 and it's huge. You can also specially order a pie. I was dissappointed because they stopped making the Chilli beef pie and when I mentioned it the guy said that if I want one just let him know the day before and he'll make it for me. They werent selling so he had to stop making them. So he'll even make me one single small pie for no extra cost if thats what I want. This place is always very busy even during the week at morning tea and lunch time with lots of tradesmen and surfers going there. I suspect they will be flat out during soccer season as well as they are just opposite the soccer fields. They also have sandwiches such as ham, cheese and tomato on long turkish bread that they will grill at no extra price and my kids love them as a treat. We all love the orange poppy seed cake as well.

Approximate cost: $6

Perhaps the last review was written by a rival cafe owner because this is by far the best and friendliest cafe in Avalon. They open late so you can sit and have a coffee and icecream after dinner and their coffee is always perfect. Luke and Beck smile and engage with every customer like they are their life long friends. They have huge queues every morning but they are so good at their job your wait time is always minimal. They make the icecream on site and you can watch them through the window if you want. Always friendly, efficient and serve lovely cakes and sandwiches as well. The have livened up the north end of Avalon.

Approximate cost: $3.50
