The food was lovely (except the desert but I'll get to that), and the views spectacular. Most of the service was good. Hard to get the attention of the waitress's which is annoying but when you did get their attention they were very nice and friendly.. except for one girl that only seamed to have the job of bringing out food and she looked like she was sucking lemons in the back before she served the food. Seamed exasperated by us all the time, like we weren't paying enough attention to her when she brought out our food. When she was serving the beef, she asked who had the beef, and I said, well how is it cooked? She gave me a face like I was an idiot, so I said, well mine was medium rare, so what is that one?? She looked annoyed and said, medium. Anyway, everyone else was lovely. And it's also one of those places where everyone has their job and goodness don't ask someone if you can order a coffee, because it isn't their job to take orders.... anyway. The entre and main was delicious. Now for the desert.. I had Creme Brule and it had an overpowering fragrance. It said it had rose water, but I think there was something else. Anyway, it was nice but... they really need to taste and smell the food before they bring it out. Now... for the toilets... really... they were disgusting. When I walked into the cubicle, the toilet seat was on the FLOOR!!! seriously.. it was worse than a public toilet. Perhaps it was a puyblic toilet, but considering it is really a lovely restaurant.. they need to take responsibility for the fact that their customers have to use that toilet... and... ok, now I am being picky... but paper napkins??? For a waterfront, highly regarded restaurant??? anyway. The food was nice, the atmosphere lovely.. but it's those little things that make this place a second rate restaurant. When I compare it to Ripples at Whale Beach, you would never think they are the same chain. Maybe that's the problem.. it's become a chain.

Perhaps I am spoilt with these Fine Dining restaurants, because I have been to a few. The setting was fantastic and the service and atmosphere superb, but.. well... the food wasn't wow, which is what I am use to at these restaurants. I guess you could say they have very suttle flavours. Yes, it was nice. Nothing tasted bad, but there was no wow. We had the degustation menu and opted for the premium wines, and apart from the fist saki, well... I think the wine was quite average really. The reds perhaps a little young. It is hard to find, exspecially at night, the waiter had to come out and find me! The deserts were dissapointing. So, it was a must visit, but I wouldnt go there again. There are much better fine dining degustation restaurants in Sydney.

This restaurant opened last week. It actually tags itself as South East Asian Street food. It is delicious and really cheap, especially for the quality of the food, plus BYO so wonderful. We went there on it's second night open and 4 of us had plenty of food that we shared, brought our own drink and it was only $25 each including a tip. The red duck curry is absolutly delicious. We sat at the back of the restaurant where it is a casual setting where you sit on lounge chairs around a coffee table style setting. It was fun and comfortable and most of all the food was delicious. They have 3 deserts on the menu, we shared all three and they were delicious. A mango sticky rice, a chocolate cake and a brule... yummmmm. I then went back last Tuesday to have lunch with another friend and had the vietnamese roll which was also yummy. I also had a cup of coffee with was well made and just as I asked. So far I everytime I go past this place, not matter what time of the morning or night it is packed, so I do suggest you book if you want to be sure of a seat, but they always seam to try and make room for you. The service is very friendly, and the main lady treats you like a friend, like she has known you forever, yet I met her for the first time at the restaurant. Great place and wonderful to have another great restaurant in Avalon.

Approximate cost: $10-$15, unlimited rice for $3

We had lunch here on the weekend in between shopping at all the Sales on Chapel Street. If your looking for Big American style meals, well I guess this is the place to go. The place is big and very dark in decor, but I think that's intentional. The service is a bit slow. When you walk in the door there is a sign asking you to go to the bar to get a table, only the bar is two levels up... why would you do that? Anyway, we just went to a table.. there were plenty available. The menu is extensive, so there should be something for everyone. I think our waitress was new. She was very nice but really had to check everything. My youngest ordered calamari, and my other daughter and I ordered sandwiches, but apparently the calamari was on the entre menu so it came out first and the burgers took forever to come out. But the food was nice.

My daughter and I had breakfast here on the weekend, and it is a lovely spot - very "Melbourne", you know, worn looking furniture, rather bare but it was comfortable and had a lot of big windows all around so you could watch the people on the street. The service was friendly and fairly quick. BUT... they put the Eggs Benedict on Brioch??? Why.. it was teriible, so sweet and yucky. Why would you do that? Yes, it is my fault, I should have noticed that they said that on the menu, but who in their right mind would do that? Anyway, the coffee was good and my daughter liked her sunny side up with toast. It was fine for breakfast but check the details on the menu.

We went for a long weekend, mother and 2 daughters with the purpose of shopping, and couldn't have chosen a better spot. We go to Melbourne fairly often, about once a year and try and stay in a different location each time. We love the Adina Apartments because they offer the seperated spaces so people can be asleep while others are watching TV in a different room. There is plenty of space here and a fully equiped kitchen which reduces the need to go out for every meal. We had a one bedroom apartment with a rollaway bed and we could fit it in the bedroom with plenty of space, infact more space than many apartments that only have a single bed. The main bed was a King so everyone had a great bed and a great nights sleep. The receptionist cannot help you enough, she was brilliant giving advice of where to go and what to see and how to get there. We were really close to Toorak Road and Chapel Street and spent one full day walking up and down Chapel street, bagging some great bargains. It is freezing in Melbourne at night time so decided to have room service one night. It is one of those arrangements where the restaurant delivers to your room. The food was excellent and they really served a lot of food and arrived exactly when they said and tasted fresh and warm. The in-house movies are expensive, but it was so cold that we stayed in and we had a huge choice of movies. They were about $16 each, but if we had gone to the movies it would have cost more for 3 people. I would highly recommend this place. It also has a gym and a small heated pool, which my youngest took advantage of.

Went here this morning for Mothers Day breakfast. The best thing about this place is definately the location. I have been here before, last year for Fathers Day breakfast. The food is well made and a good size, as expected, but I ordered my young daughter scrambles eggs with toast and the scrambled eggs had sooooo much salt and pepper, even an adult would have had trouble eating it. Why would they do that? She said she didnt like it and I really should have tried it straight away and sent it back and asked for another one, but unfortunately, by the time I tried it it was too late and she was tired and didnt want me to ask for another. She just wanted to go home and have some toast. The coffee was good and the service was fine, but I think we stood at the entrance waiting to be shown to our table for at least 10 minutes. They pack too many tables into a small space and they are very uncomfortable, but saying that, when we first got there and it was a bit cold they did bring blankets to us to keep the girls and my mother in-law warm. So, I would go thre again, but I have learnt my lesson to tell them - no salt and pepper. My meal was salty too. Which is very surprising, as I didnt think anyone put salt on food anymore without asking first.

Most of the fruit and vegie stalls are good value, infact excellent value, but beware of a lot of the other stalls because they really are over priced. Make sure you dont get carried away by the market style and think it is cheap. Make sure you know what you would pay for this in normal shops that have much higher overheads than these stalls do. For instance, a lot of the oils, the smaller fruit shops and certainly a lot of the small goods stalls are not cheap, so dont be cheated by them. There are also other stalls, so it is a really pleasant experience to go to these markets, especially on a fine Friday morning, so go for the experience, know what is good value and what isnt, and then you should have a good time and bring home some good fresh vegie:-)

I took my parents here for an early mothers day lunch. I have been before for dinner with friends and wanted to have a lovely long lunch that I knew would have good food and great service. I wasn't dissapointed, and neither were my parents. We had the 6 course tasting menu and it was superb. Mum had the matching wines and she was pleased with every wine and said they were well matched. The restuarant overlooks the lake, which was pretty with ducks and people sailing remote controlled boats. The weather was lovely and the service fantastic. The place wasnt full but still had quite a few people for a Saturday lunch. Our 6 courses took over 3 hours to eat, but what a lovely way to spend you Saturday.

I stayed here on the weekend with 2 girl friends. It was a 3 bedroom apartment with a large verandah and then a huge rooftop BBQ and Jacuzzi area. Very tastfully decorated, not over done. Very classy. They added a lot of little extra's like tea, drip filter coffee, cold water in the fridge, and a small milk in the fridge, shampoo & conditioner, and shower gell. The cupboards are very well stocked with all sorts of serving plates, and cooking utensils, everything you would need. The Jacuzzi was huge and wonderful. You look right across at the water with uniterupted views of the park land and lake. A very short walk to to nice cafe for breakfast or lunch, and then just on a bit further to the main area of the Entrance with Saturday farmers markets and lots of cafe's and interesting shops to look at. The two bathrooms were very clean and large the main having a beautiful claw foot bath. The apartment and lobby area is very clean and fresh with lovely candles. We met the owner Deeona and she was very welcoming and very nice, telling us about good places to eat or go for walks. The apartment came with 2 very secure undercover parking spaces and a trolley to help you get your stuff up the lifts. It was a bit chilly so we didnt use the fantastic pool area but it would be wonderful in summer and especially if you bring the kids (which I intend to do in summer). There is also a games room a gym and a pool table room. Just near the apartments are some wonderful looking theme restaurants you could go to if you didn't feel like cooking but we stayed in both evenings, just relaxing with nibbles and movies and good company. I also like the fact that there is a flat cleaning fee, so you pay for the apartment by the day and then there is one cleaning fee. That makes it clear to you what you are paying for and also it means that if you stay 3 days or 7 days, you still get just the one cleaning fee. They do expect you to leave the apartment relativly clean when you leave, that is, you do have to put your dishes in the dishwasher and not leave the place in a terrible state, but, that's just manners really. They dont ask for anything that isnt covered by plain respect. They do ask you to take the garbage out, but I am starting to find that this happens everywhere now, so it's just something I have to suck up. It is inconvienient and they leave you plenty of garbage bags. Enjoyed our weekend thoroughly.

Approximate cost: $low period $830 for 2 nights including cleaning for a large 3 bedroom apartment with Jacuzzi
